HTC EVO 4G :: Anyone Able To View New Mobile Youtube Site?

Jul 8, 2010

I noticed the youtube news yesterday about its new mobile site, but when i log onto the stock EVO internet browser and Dolphin HD, it looks nothing like the site in the video and still asks me if I want to use HTC Flash Player or Youtube app to play the video. Also it seems to only choose HTC Flash Player now, how do I reset the defaults for this?

HTC Droid Eris :: Youtube App Vs Youtube Mobile Site

Jul 8, 2010

I just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

HTC Desire :: YouTube App & Mobile Site Error

Apr 4, 2010

just wondering if anyone is having the same issues as me with YouTube. The audio and video with the built in app is slightly off sync, with the picture moving very slightly ahead of the audio. There is an issue with subscriptions where a few selected channels show 0 videos, and going in results in all videos bringing up an error Viewing the site through the web browser is great, with subscriptions showing fine with new videos, but the flash player is not up to speed and this time the picture is quite far ahead of the video, to the point where it isn't really watchable. I don't think its just me, and I hope there might be an update soon as I can't find a workaround.

Motorola Droid :: BB - New Youtube Mobile Site - HQ - 3G And Wifi

Jul 23, 2010

HQ videos don't download fast enough on 3G or Wifi! I didn't think too much of it until my friend came over with his new Iphone 4G. I told him about the new mobile youtube site so that he can see the videos in HQ. He was on the crappy ATT 3G network and was able to play a video in HQ without any problems at all. It was downloading about twice as fast as it was playing. I was very surprised. I then tried the exact same video but it just sat there trying to download. It would play for about 2 seconds then stop. It was really bad. I then turned on my wifi, but it did the exact same thing. I restarted the phone, turned on wifi again, did a speed check so I knew that the wifi was working, then tried it again. Still wouldn't download any HQ youtube video faster than it was playing. I'm just really surprised that my overclocked droid (1.25ghz) on the verizon network (or wifi) couldn't come close to keeping up with the Iphone 4 on ATT's crappy network. I kind of feel like something is wrong here so I though I would ask if anyone else is able to play HQ videos on 3G without it stopping. In other words, is it downloading faster than its playing.

I just want to view the site in my internet browser the same way as I can on my computer but when I am on youtube and I choose the Desktop view at the bottom of the page it just reverts back to Mobile view instead. Android :: M.youtube Site - No Shortcut?

Aug 30, 2010

As some of you may already know, the mobile youtube site has been revamped to use a HTML5 browser for faster viewing. And its pretty damn good. Smacks the native youtube app in everyway, only problem is you cant seem to upload videos from it.

However, the iphone is able to add a shortcut to the mobile site to homescreen as demonstrated in this help tip. http://help.youtube.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=188124

But to my surprise, android doesnt have this option. Am I missing something here? : Im a little shocked that since youtube is owned by google they would have paid more attention to their own platform rather than their most fierce competitor. Or did they just do it out of pittance because the native iphone youtube app does not play HQ videos and they are not able to view the embedded youtube videos on the full site, due to the absence of Flash?

HTC Desire :: Having Error With Hotmail Mobile Site

Nov 29, 2010

I've been having issues lately with Hotmail Mobile, and it was working fine up until about a week ago.I have troubles deleting emails. For instance, when I go to the "junk" folder, and click the box to highlight them all and then delete them, it will only put a check box in the very top email. And if I check them all individually and click delete, it won't delete. In fact delete doesn't work at all. Also, I can't open attachments. It just says "loading", and the little "circle hourglass thingy" keeps spinning around and around. Other than these issues, I can read my emails totally fine.I know that I can just go to the pc site instead of the mobile site, but I preferred the mobile one on my phone.

Android :: Mobile Specific Site Development

May 20, 2010

I'm beginning the process of learning the ins and outs of developing sites for mobile web browsers. Are there any good resources/communities online that discuss mobile specific site development issues? My initial understanding is that to cover different phones you need to build one site that is enabled for browsers with the webkit engine (iphone, android, etc.) and another more basic site for other older browsers, is this assumption correct? Also what does developing for webkit mean exactly? How is it different than just using javascript/css/html? Is it the same except that you limit yourself to webkit specific functions and css? I looked on the webkit site, but it didn't explain it in those terms. Are there any other snafus I need to watch out for when developing for mobile browsers?

HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook In Browser (regular Version Not Mobile Site)

Dec 11, 2009

Is it possible to open the regular Facebook page in the browser? I am almost able to log in to it, but then it asks me for my birthday because I'm not browsing from a "familiar location". So I select my correct birth date from the drop-down menus, but the Login button stays grayed out for some reason and I can't go any further. Has anyone else had any success? My reason for wanting this is so I can access the actual Notifications page. The way I currently have it set up, I get an e-mail notification in Gmail. Then when I click the link in the e-mail for whatever update it's supposed to take me to, it just takes me to the homepage of Facebook Mobile. Then sometimes it won't even list the New Notifications link. This makes it very inconvenient if I want to go find where to reply to a comment or something. I have to know exactly where it is, which is difficult if it's not recent.

Android :: Dolphin Browser - Mobile Vs Regular/full HTML Site Option

Oct 21, 2010

With the Dolphin browser, is there a way to "force" a website to load as a FULL/normal/regular html website rather than as an m.site.com mobile website?

For example, when I try to navigate to eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices I am ALWAYS redirected to m.ebay.com

Is this a setting within the Dolphin Browser or is this controlled by the website itself??

I looked through the settings and could not find a preference to chose between mobile and "full html" site options

Android :: Mobile 'Web Wrapper' Framework Allowing Device Access To A Remote Site?

Jan 3, 2010

When I first ran across PhoneGap, I was excited because I envisioned simply dropping in the URL of a mobile site and simply updating the mobile site to use the devices capabilities when available.

Alas, it seems it is not that easy.

From what I understand (and I could be incorrect), any HTML/JS access to the device's hardware is limited to local 'pages'. So essentially create a HTML/JS local 'web' app to access the 'real' mobile web app by AJAX like calls. It seems a little redundant (at least to me) when the point is to simply extend the interface an existing mobile site.

Not trying to knock PhoneGap here, just wondering if there's a similar framework that allows a remote site to access the phone's hardware directly. Or if I've missed how that can be done with PhoneGap.

(Sure, I know "allows a remote site to access the phone's hardware directly" sounds scary - but the URL is hard-coded in the app, and HTTPS could provide authenticity. Of course, security is probably why this isn't supported by PhoneGap.)

I was tried for RTSP stream for a long time, finally I could success to play the RTSP stream from mobile Youtube website:

My approach is to copy the stream link and paste it in my code, then, there are sometimes success to work(play) on Android and sometimes will not. I can't figure out why? Is something wrong about Youtube server? Because my code is just the same, and only change is the stream link URL.
