HTC Droid Eris :: Youtube App Vs Youtube Mobile Site
Jul 8, 2010I just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

Jul 8, 2010I noticed the youtube news yesterday about its new mobile site, but when i log onto the stock EVO internet browser and Dolphin HD, it looks nothing like the site in the video and still asks me if I want to use HTC Flash Player or Youtube app to play the video.Also it seems to only choose HTC Flash Player now, how do I reset the defaults for this?

Apr 4, 2010just wondering if anyone is having the same issues as me with YouTube.The audio and video with the built in app is slightly off sync, with the picture moving very slightly ahead of the audio.There is an issue with subscriptions where a few selected channels show 0 videos, and going in results in all videos bringing up an error Viewing the site through the web browser is great, with subscriptions showing fine with new videos, but the flash player is not up to speed and this time the picture is quite far ahead of the video, to the point where it isn't really watchable. I don't think its just me, and I hope there might be an update soon as I can't find a workaround.

Mar 7, 2014Not that it might matter, but I have a galaxy S4. Had it for awhile and pretty much run the standard apps I always have even on my old bionic without issues. In the last few weeks I started noticing a sort of pop up ad. It only shows a few times during the day and only right after I unlock my screen.
So far I have uninstalled the last few apps I put on and no luck. Even though these apps are ones I have used in the past with no issues. All my apps are from the google play store too.
I put Avast on it and it reports no viruses. I installed Lookout Ad Network Detector and it doesn't find anything.
This is a full screen ad, not in the notification panel. Most of the time it shows a Kindle Fire ad. I just hit the back button and it goes away.
I did visit winrar.com using firefox which might be a fake site for the real rarlabs.com which make winrar. Other than that I can't really think of anything I might have done to cause this.
I have gone through most of my apps looking at settings to see if any have options for ads and no luck.

Jun 19, 2013I'm new to android phone. When I bought my phone, the mobile store gave me some apps including paid for a deal price from dealers. But I found some apps having a prefix in their file name which on googling I found they are piracy developers. But many of other apps provided by them are already free apps from google play. But some are paid apps, for example, AVG mobile antivirus pro. The file is doesn't have any prefix. Is there any way to find if its genuine or not?

Jun 4, 2010How to stop youtube displaying the page designed for Mobile phones? I just want to view the site in my internet browser the same way as I can on my computer but when I am on youtube and I choose the Desktop view at the bottom of the page it just reverts back to Mobile view instead. I've disabled all the settings in my browser that convert sites to mobile views etc etc. It only does it on youtube and I cant stand the youtube app on my phone. I don't want any other apps or anything like that I just want to view it like I do on my comp.

Jul 23, 2010HQ videos don't download fast enough on 3G or Wifi! I didn't think too much of it until my friend came over with his new Iphone 4G. I told him about the new mobile youtube site so that he can see the videos in HQ. He was on the crappy ATT 3G network and was able to play a video in HQ without any problems at all. It was downloading about twice as fast as it was playing. I was very surprised. I then tried the exact same video but it just sat there trying to download. It would play for about 2 seconds then stop. It was really bad. I then turned on my wifi, but it did the exact same thing. I restarted the phone, turned on wifi again, did a speed check so I knew that the wifi was working, then tried it again. Still wouldn't download any HQ youtube video faster than it was playing. I'm just really surprised that my overclocked droid (1.25ghz) on the verizon network (or wifi) couldn't come close to keeping up with the Iphone 4 on ATT's crappy network. I kind of feel like something is wrong here so I though I would ask if anyone else is able to play HQ videos on 3G without it stopping. In other words, is it downloading faster than its playing.

Dec 17, 2012My Verizon Galaxy Nexus has been running very very slow lately. I'm running AOKP last stable JB build and the RAM bar at the 'recent apps' screen show "665MB used - 30MB Free" most of the times. Even if I 'Kill all apps" from that screen, Free memory doesn't go higher than 42MB ever. I did google search with different keywords but all of them are returning only 'task killer' apps, which I believe don't actually do much good. In theory, Android does memory management on its own and release required memory automatically when a new app needs it. But I'm guessing there's some rouge app in my device which is always reporting "hey, I'm using this memory" and not letting Android reclaim it.
So, I'm looking for an app that can identify which app is using how much of ram at any given time. And maybe how much of CPU time etc... so that I can identify which app is bringing my device to its knees.

Jul 6, 2013we already got a battery meter in android 4.2.2, and it can tell if something is keeping the phone awake.For example, it shows that the "Android OS" is keep the system awake for 10 hours, but it can not tell me which app is holding some wake locks or wakes the phone frequently.I also installed Better BatteryStats, under Kernel Wakelock, it shows that the gps_lock is holding for 10 hours, but also not related to any app.

My approach is to copy the stream link and paste it in my code, then, there are sometimes success to work(play) on Android and sometimes will not. I can't figure out why? Is something wrong about Youtube server? Because my code is just the same, and only change is the stream link URL. I used VideoView widget and my Android platform is sdk 1.5 and under x86-based, so I really want to know why and how can I solved for this. This is the logcat when I can't work for the video stream.

I just had a thought that it might be unlocked so I tried Orange, Vodafone and O2 PAYG SIMs. All seem to work giving me phone service but not data. The box is marked HTC Desire A8181. Am I correct in thnking it is unlocked?

Jun 17, 2010Not sure whether it happens to any other user of x10 or not. I bought the x10 last week and found out there's a huge battery life problem. Thus I called SE customer service and they suggested me to do the update via SE website. I downloaded the update and followed the instruction. Unplug the battery for at least 5 sec and put it back, then put plug in the USB cable to my laptop and connect it to the x10. But then it popped a msg ' cannot identify your phone, please disconnect and try again'. I tried it for 7 times and it still has the same message.
