HTC EVO 4G :: After Successful 2.2 Root / PC Not Longer Recognizes Phone

I do not believe I have an issue with the physical port, because the phone automatically charges when connected to the PC. However, instead of asking me what to do when the USB is connected to the PC, the phone automatically turns on the Car Mode?I cannot get the PC to recognize the phone for the life of me, so that means I am stuck on the stock rooted rom until I can easily gain access to the SD card via the USB cable. Anyone heard of this issue yet? Can I reinstall HTC sync without disrupting root?

I just purchased this droid about a week ago and everything had been working fine. I synced with doubletwist, I added pictures to it and it charged through the computer. Until last night when I plugged the USB into my computer and a window popped up saying it didn't recognize the USb device, this device has malfunctioned yada yada yada. Motorola doesn't know why, verizon doesn't know why, I can't claim it under warranty( i bought from a friend) and insurance doesn't cover it b/c its a "malfunction".

yet another battery thread with results that back up those that have posted their tricks.i unplugged my phone today at 7am cst before heading out the door to college algebra (i hate summer school!) it is now 5:10p cst and i have 57% battery left. i have been using the phone for several calls (had a phone job interview that lasted aprox 15min and talked to progressive for aprox 10min after checking voicemail) and have also been playing on the market and browsing the web.i figured i would through a public thank you out there for those that have helped me get the most out of my EVO and battery take what you want from this thread.i am not telling you to use what i use, only simply showing others what has worked for me.

I rooted my inc back in July and received the ota.I did nothing but accept the ota. It downloaded and installed with NO problems. I did loose root, but not a problem since the only thing I used root for was the led flashlight. With the new Sense, an HTC led flashlight is installed. The new OS is faster and liking it. Another nice feature is the numeric phone lock.I also gained a WiFi hotspot and 720p video.I'm sure there is a bunch more features added.I am still exploring the new OS. Overall, I'm satisfied and not really concerned I'm not a su on the phone.

My phone is having trouble transferring my contacts from the address book to the cars Nav system. Oddly enough, it worked once and never again. For some reason, it is only able to transfer 2 random contacts off of my phone, and stops there. For reference, it worked perfectly with my Blackberry and other non-Android phones. Here is some information:
Phone: HTC Evo 4g
Software version: 1.32.651.6
Car: 2010 BMW 650i (comes with iDrive)
I have tried un-pairing and re-pairing the phone and it hasn't behaved any differently. I noticed the phone recognizes the car as a Bluetooth Headset, which I suspect may be causing a problem. I have also tried changing the phones Bluetooth name. When I look at my Blackberry, it says the BMW supports the following services: Handsfree, Object Push, AVRCP. The Blackberry recognizes the car to be different from a normal headset.

Twice now, I've successfully used AR recovery routine to install the 2.1v3 (rooted) on my Eris, (previously running the original "v1" root).Install was a breeze--tho' I had to "push" the recovery .img and the flash routine by dragging them onto the SD/into nested "system" and "bin" folders manually while mounted to my Mac, as the first command prompt instructions generated error messages.the remainder of the command prompt instructions then executed successfully on my girlfriend's Windows machine, where I could install the SDK.I restored my Apps got everything set up, widget-ed, etc.All well until I turned my phone off when going to the theatre on powering back on: got to lock screen, but when I unlocked I had a black screen with an "unexpectedly stopped. Force close and try again" message for com.htc.launcher.When I click the Force Close button, I immediately get another dialogue saying com.htc.mms has stopped and then the first, com.htc.launcher dialogue pops up over and over, with the background behind never therefore progressing beyond the black screen with silver/gray "htc" logo.

I am facing a strange problem with my xperia x10 , when i first installed PC companion it told me there is an update so i did everything the right way but when i turned on my phone nothing changed and i checked the firmware version and it's still1.6 . But i noticed some new appliations in my menu that's all . I did the update many times after that despite PC companion telling me that i am uptodate and still nothing change

I was attempting to replace inverted facebook 1.3.1 with 1.3.2. Root explorer appeared to be working (tho the apk didn't update :|) Attempted today (i was plugged in to my computer, but was not in USB mode) and RE seemed to be stuck on a bl ck screen after it got SU permissions. Pressing menu key caused it to fc. I un-/re-installed and even rebooted. Still no luck. I was planning on flashing a nightly anyways. Wonder if that will help.

In Eclipse, when I mouse hover over a built-in method, it displays a method definition including stuff like what the method does, input objects, return objects etc. If I have a yellow line (warning) under the method I'm trying to use, I can't get the mouse-over to show the definition. If I try hitting F3, I get a "The Jar of this class file belongs to container "Android 1.6" How do I show the definition of the method I am using when there is a warning?

I just ran through the Unrevoked process, which ended in the software telling me, "This was a triumph". I am, however, unconvinced.I can not boot into any other recovery than the stock HTC recovery and therefore can not perform a Nand Back up or flash Unrevoked Forever.I'm running a newer Evo with 2.2, it has hboot 2.02 and is showing S-ON. Is this the problem?

I've followed the HOW TO: Root Your Desire Easily (Method #2)guide and the app reported 'Done'the phone boots back up fine etc but how do I know it it actually worked?Not trying any customs roms yet but I have tried to install Titanium backup and that failed after I gave it super-user permissions.Is the a setting on the on the HBOOT menu that tells me I'm rooted ?

Has anyone tried returning their evo to a sprint store due to light leakage?I noticed it last night for the first time and you can see that the bottom part of the screen is raised about the bezel while the top screen is recessed.I had to exchange my wifes EVO because it went all haywire on us and even though it went haywire with the rep, it wasnt any fun at the sprint store so i'm worried about how hard its going to be to exchange mine for this problem.Are Sprint employees aware of the situation for the most part?

I have a problem with installing an apk (which includes jni libs) on the simulator. The apk is built successfully, but running as Android Application from within eclipse and executing adb install -r path/to/ apk runs also successful, but the app doesn't show up on the app- screen in the simulator. The following is the logcat during the install of the app. I don't see much evidence that there is something wrong with the apk, so I don't know whats going on there. Can someone help me with this? Are there more debugging options for adb install?

I have looked at several forum posts on several sites to find a solution to my problem, but have failed. I have a G1 that does not seem to like mp4s. The various forums all recommended this file type (some recommended ipod presets, others iphone) but I've successfully converted files to mp4 using a few different converters that will still not play on my G1. Is there some problem with my specific phone?

My Samsung Note 10.1(N8000) got stuck on boot screen at stock. No recovery only download mode. I don't know why, it was flat for about 2 weeks before I noticed.
Roms always and still flash successfully if I get the right version of odin, i think i have about 15 different odins from trying to fix this.
Things I've tried:
1.Flash stock rom
2.Flash custom recovery
3.Flash different versions of both 7+
4.Re-partition and repeat 1-3
5.Wipe the memory and repeat 4 with many many roms
why my tablet stopped the first time and why no roms are working to recover it. What is happening here? Is it corrupt memory or motherboard etc hardware? Is there a god .pit file or god rom that could work to make something happen? What should i try now?
This shows a successful flash which had no effect on the tablet afterwards

I was looking for a better browser and for my money Dolphin is the best one. But I can't download anything! I've tried pdf, mp3, and gif all from different sites and every time it just says "download unsuccessful." I've managed to download the same files using the built in browser but I can't seem to get dolphin to work.

The market place was working fine until today when I started getting multiple "download successful" messages. I've tried the following to fix it.
1. go to your settings
2. select "applications"
3. then select "manage applications"
4. press menu and select "filter" then "All"
5. scroll down to:
a) "Checkin Service" then select "clear data"
b) "Download Manager" then select "clear data"
c) "Google Apps" then "clear data"
d) "Google Talk Service" then select "clear data"
e) " Market" then select "clear cache"
However, when I try step 5c) I don't get the option to clear the data, just force stop. Does anyone know how I can get the "clear data" option? I've also deselected Autoupdate time and date.

Formatted sdcard (modded vold.fstab so CM see it as int. Mem). Work smoothly.
Going to bed, turn my phone off.
Stuck at shutdown animation (the "turning off phone" thing)
Removed the battery.
Tried powering on, none.
After a successful flash of FXP202.But imho it's unstable, many random lockups. forcing me to remove the battery every 5 min or so. and i dont realize this'll happen.
flashmode/fastboot is unaccessable.
so does Soft/Hard reset.
Combined charge time while dead is around 30h~
Longest charge time streak is 12h.
The anything that works is, when plugged in to PC, Device manager shows unknown device with HW id as (USBVID_05C6&PID_9008).

I know that you are supposed to initially let your phone charge for 8 hours, but is it a problem if you charge it longer? I should be getting mine tonight, and plan on plugging it in when i get it but just want to make sure it won't harm the battery to leave it plugged in overnight for longer than 8 hours.

I've noticed that when I'm not on wifi, my gmail is no longer pushing to my phone, but will delivery whenever I wake the phone up. I never had this problem before with gmail even with "Always On Mobile Data" disabled, but now it seems like the as soon as the 3G radio goes to sleep, I don't get anything until it wakes back up. Any one else having this problem with the latest version of the gmail.app?

Good Evening, I doing a bit of surfing this morning with the Desire and put it in down for a few hours and when I cam back to it about 4 hours later I found the battery was dead.. After charging it up and turning it back on all it will do is show the white screen with green HTC letters before rebooting again.
Very frustrating as I have just got this one setup the way I like it since being replaced. I can not even say why it has happened, I use no task killers and the only app ran was the internet via wifi.
I have called Orange and they will send a new one out tomorrow to replace it, so good for the customer services but this is my second faulty desire.
I tried loading the phone with the volume down button pressed and using fastboot / recovery but no joy there.
Before it goes back tomorrow I really want to reset the phone to factory defaults as all my data will remain in the phone and I do not trust any 3rd party to clear it down.
Does anyone know what I can do to clear the data please?

am supposed to be switching my Family Plan to Sprint come May. Right now I have an AT&T contract until 7/11/10. My plan is to sell my iPhone 3G before the new iPhone comes out and the price drops for 3Gs on Ebay (they are still going for $250-350 right now). I was going to sell my iPhone and use that money to cancel my AT&T 2 months early then buy the EVO. The problem is the EVO comes out in June, at least most likely, and I (plus my family) couldn't go without a phone plan for a month.Is there any way I could get a loner phone(like they give you when your phone is being repaired) or something from Sprint until the EVO comes out? Or any other suggestions?

Everytime I turn the screen on and unlock I get this message on my home screen with the clock/wx widget. It says, "Set new clock successful!" It dissolves after a couple seconds but it still annoys me. It only happens on the screen with that widget and not with other home screen pages. I had heard Verizon was unable to allow voice and data usage at the same time. However, when I got my DI I was able to surf the web while talking on the phone. Then this morning Verizon pushes out some update and suddenly when im on the phone 3g disappears.from the top bar and I get an error message that I can't connect to the web. What happened and is there anyway.to reverse this?
