At one of my jobs I am forced to leave my phone in the car for about 3 hours. The temperature usually gets down to about 30 F. Will this damage my Eris, it is primarily the screen I am worried about. I've noticed the lcd performs a bit sluggish the colder it is. I read on another site leaving cell phones plugged into the charger might be a good idea but would that really keep the phone from getting cold?

I have a new Motorola Droid w/Verizon. Below 40F, my fingers will no longer operate the screen. Last night at 21F, I got a call that went directly to voice mail and when tried to check voicemail, the phone froze completely. I tried to restart it... it came up with "call in progress" when I tried to check voicemail. After about 15 minutes inside, the phone started working again normally. Is this a problem with all Droids or do I need to get another phone?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI finally deleted Advanced Task Killer. Ever since getting my Eris, I have been dependent upon it. I have in fact been obsessed with it, making sure I clicked the ATK widget to kill all programs before ever putting my phone to sleep. I was obsessed with battery life and the Messages App issue. Now, I am giving it a shot.
My two biggest concerns are phone speed and battery life. My battery life has been fine, mostly because I shut my 3G off when I am at home or work. My phone speed has been lagging considerably, and I am hoping that deleting ATK, along with deleting some unused Apps and clearing the cache, will help keyboard lag and general app lag. I will keep you posted to see what happens. I am excited, I know that a lot of you have highly suggested not using Task Killers, and I am excited to not be bound by it. However after a week if I notice considerable battery life loss, and no considerable difference in device speed, I may reinstall it. We shall see!
So since the 2.1 OTA my weather widget will display the city, but no weather icon. if i sync it manually, it will show up. with 1.5 it would update every 3 hours, regardless if i had Background data on or off (i normally keep it off).
so now with 2.1 it wont sync unless i have BG data on, or do it manually. any way around this?
After the OTA update, just got it yesterday, now the HTC weather app isn't working! The widget isn't showing any weather data, and when I try to update it manually from within the app, it says no weather data available.

I click on the widget and bring up the settings and check the "Update Automatically" I get a "Data Warning"- This may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. Enable automatic download of weather data? and I click yes. Yet it wont save and it keeps coming unchecked after I exit the widget. I even tried hitting now and I tried a soft reset.

In the end, I just couldn't do it... I'm not even sure why, but the little voice in the back of my head kept telling me "no, don't do it." Anyone else go to a store with plans to buy, and then change their minds? FYI, someone else walked in and bought the phone right when I told the rep I was going to pass on it...

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have started having crappy signal at my work for the past week. Finally i called verizon and there are no tower outages or anything they are aware of. Yes, i am in a building, but i have been in the same building for almost 2 years and with verizon for 1 year. I have always had 3 out of 4 bars of 3g service. Now my DB will say -85 or -90 which i know is fine but i'll have 0 of 4 bars or at best 1 and it will be 1x!!!!
I'm friekin' out because having no signal at work sucks. i'm missing calls and forget about downloading an app, it takes forever if it works. So my question is, did 2.2 do this? I got the OTA and it's been happening almost as long as i've had 2.2. i got 2.2 on the 22nd like everyone else and it probably started on the 24th.
Or is this simply a case of Verizon having to release an Alltel tower or something or a roaming agreement running out and now i am just screwed? I think this may be the case since nothing else seems to make sense. Oh and i did walk a city block away from my building outside and it's the same: -88 to -96 signal but 0 bars or at best 1 bar. what happened to my poor droid x? now my battery life is sucking too because it's always searching for a signal and wearing itself out!!! Sad, sad, sad. Again, only in the last week has this happened to me. I'm rooted but i had stock 2.1 and got the official 2.2 ota. only rooted so i could rename bloatware. my phone had AMAZING reception before! I even saw a -59 once which i'd never got down to on my droid 1 (mostly low -80's).

I've tried different configurations of the HTC widget, and they don't update either. A friend of mine is having the same problem. I even did a factory reset to see if that would resolve the issue to no avail. Anyone else having this problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecent quirk - my Eris all of a sudden insists that the sun is shining at 9:30 PM, and conversely that the moon is out at 8:00 AM (times approximate). I go into the main weather screen, it updates, looks fine, I go back to the home screen, still way off. Eventually it does "match" -right now, 1:50 PM, the Eris says "intermittent clouds" and looking out the window what bits of sky I can see are mostly cloudy. But it is a bit disconcerting to be sitting at the baseball game, pull out the Eris to check the time, and have a nice happy sun staring at me when it is way past sundown.

We have been having a crappy snowstorm all day, and I keep getting the notification no matter how many times I clear it. It just keeps coming back every few minutes or so. And every time it comes back, it makes a notification sound and stays in my notification bar up top... also, it happens to be my text message sound, so it's driving me crazy.The only option in the settings is for Units of Measure.Oh and also annoying, the notification doesn't go away when you click on it to check it, like with messages or e-mails. You have to actually go back to your notifications bar and click Clear Notifications.

How do I get the weather and location to update more often? Because there was a thunder storm and my Eris told me that I was in the town next to me and that it was partly cloudy. So is there a way to get more frequent weather and location updates?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI just thought that I would share the differences with my home screen between sense and helix. The bottom bar on helix is perfect, and can be used to change the default dialer and still have it 'stuck' on the bottom. Helix gives you a lot of space to clean up, and you can add/remove screens and get rid of clutter. If your a freak about the layout of your phone, like me, you should really give helix a try.
The only thing I miss is the HTC animated weather widget, is there any way it could be ported over?
They obviously use a different source for the actual weather information, but I don't think the HTC weather widget is that integrated into sense that it wouldn't work on helix...Can anyone explain why it doesn't (or so far hasn't been ported)?
