You can not turn off the twitter update on the eris. You can turn off facebook and flickr updates all together. Anyone know how to address this of if HTC is aware of this bug. I use Seesmic for twitter because peep is ok but kind of lacking on any usefull features and peep is always running in the background no matter if you even kill it.

I received my wife's Eris last night and was setting it up for her. For some reason it wouldn't let me log into her facebook under the social network settings. She wanted to do this so she can see birthdays and have contacts connected with their fbook profiles. It would not let me log her in. It says that the service is currently unavailable. I can log her into the android facebook widget and the mobile site but not this. I started messing around with my Eris to see if I could figure out what is wrong. I logged myself out and now I am getting the same message. I have been using this setting since day one with no problems. My wife has the update and I do not yet. Has anyone else ran into this issue.

What is the efficient way to quickly lookup my local phone contacts database and "match" them based on their name. Since there are firstname, lastname and displayname this can vary.
What do you think, how can the best match be achieved?

These are the three options I can check...the first one is checked right now.if I check the second one will it update the weather automatically or is the first one all that is required and it says the battery will be drained in the third option but what about the 2nd option.
I'm having an issue with my wifi not connecting. I have to AP's in my house, on different channels. They work perfectly fine. I have the wifi toggle setting on the home screen that I usually press to toggle the wifi on/off. Recently, it hasn't been working after I disconnect from 3G and connect to wifi. It says the wifi is turned on, but it won't connect to either of the remembered APs. The only way to get it to automatically connect is to go to settings and view the list of APs. Only then will it connect to one of the two APs. This is really annoying, as it seemed to only start this recently and nothing has changed. My wifi sleep policy is never to turn off. It's a droid eris with 2.1 OTA. Ran a virus scan, nothing. Any ideas?

I don't remember having this issue prior to the update but I can't say for sure that it was something that started immediately after receiving the update. Whenever I turn on WiFi, it says "Scanning" for about 5 seconds, then an "Unable to Scan for Networks" window pops up. Sometimes it scans just once, other times it scans 2 or 3 times, but eventually it automatically turns off the wireless. At first, I thought the problem was caused by a WiFi toggle widget, so I tried factory resetting the phone to remove all of my downloaded apps, but I had no luck.

I've had an ongoing struggle with my X's battery life, from day 1 with 2 different standard batteries to try until now with the extended battery.
I've tried it all and thensome and nothing has majorly improved my battery life. I won't go into number of hours I get or usage details or anything, but I have a question I cannot seem to find any solution to.
I noticed after I updated to leaked 2.2 Froyo that very often the 3g up and download arrows are both lit up and basically never turn off. After a few days of trying to figure out what it was (and using Juice Defender in the meantime to shut data off except for 15 min intervals), I think I've figured out what is causing the 3g data to often constantly be transmitting.
I went into the Battery History screen, left it set to "Since last unplugged" and went to "Network usage". In here, the bar for "UID 10012" is very high, almost all blue. Every time I exit the menu and go back into to re-check those data numbers, they are always increased after only seconds while the 3g data symbol is active.
Inside of the details for that are several built-in system app names. I tried stopping a few of these through the Applications menu of the phone where you can stop services/apps.
I finally have force stopped one (has worked several times now) that has stopped the 3g data instantly every time.
This one is "Social Messaging Service".
Every time I click the "Force stop" button within that app's info page in the Application settings of the phone, the 3g data arrows stop lighting up instantly.
Is this app related only to the Social Networking built-in app (which I don't use/need)? Is it tied to other things? Is there a downside to me stopping this?
I can't seem to keep it stopped and it seems to cause this 3g data issue every day at some time (multiple times usually - seems to happen again a few hours after I've stopped it). I think it is attributing to my sometimes bad battery life.
How can I stop this ongoing Social Messaging "bug" battery drain?

I have tried to switch the WI-FI network off, and I have tried to apply the airplane mode (as suggested here: Mobile Network Disabled?? - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum). Nothing helps. Actually, I have never seen the mobile network (3G/H) working on my Milestone since I got it.
I have a SIM card of my local operator, and that same SIM card is working fine on my HTC Hero. So there I can use 3G/H normally. It is also sad that there is no manual switch (I mean an option) in Droid/Milestone to switch the mobile network on/off manually just like in HTC Hero.
