I heard that your sms texts are stored on your phone's internal memory and not the sd card. Are there anyways you can back it up to the sd card? or set sms automatically to be stored on the sd card?
btw, does anyone know how to browse the files on the sd card? does eris let you do that? ive tried looking but couldn't figure it out.

I have a bunch of photos that I took with the phone. I stored them on the phone until I discovered they were not going to my SD card. Is there any way to move those photos from phone storage to the sd card ?

I looked at the system setting and her internal storage is completely maxed out, but the SD card is 90% available. I've mounted her phone to my laptop and tried moving files around, but nothing is moving. She only has pictures on her phone, not a single song, movie, video, etc. How do I get the data moved to the SD card?

If I click on the SD card tab under 'manage applications' and look at a certain app (Astro, eg.), it only shows that 1.5mb is stored on the SD card. I know for certain that Astro is around 3.5mb. I've experienced this with every FroYo ROM I've had.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have been quite perplexed as to how my SD card was filling up so quickly. I would try out a ROM for a while, make a Nand backup, have about three of those on the phone at a time, always making a copy onto my computer. And yet it seemed like every time I deleted old Nands and ROM from my phone, my space continued to get smaller and smaller, until today I was down to 900 and some odd megabytes. I don't have that much music or other media stuff on my phone, so I plugged my phone in, went through and deleted more music, videos, etc. off of my phone. Turns out, while I had my phone mounted (I use a Mac), and I dragged files from the phone into the trash can in the dock-- it wasn't actually deleting the files from my phone, but merely putting them in the "Trash" folder on my SD card. So I went through using Astro and deleted everything in there. AND I'm back up to fish gigs. not sure if anyone else might have made the same mistake, or if I completely outed myself as a NEW B, Whew, what a relief though.

At time, after rebooting, the apps are available as they should be. Also, I can download apps when the SD card apps are not available, but they will not install. Running UD8. Anyone have any help? View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, the moron at the Verizon store who was activating my replacement Droid decided to import or retrieve contact data from my broken droid / SD card....he didn't know that it handled all the contacts from the cloud. As soon as I entered my gmail login it imported all my contacts and so, now I have contacts with duplicate data and some contacts that are now just phone numbers. I tried deleting the contact data and resyncing but it appears to be grabbing this duplicate data from somewhere. All my contacts are CLEAN in gmail when viewed online. But if I look on the phone, when go to edit them each person has 1 contact with multiple google contacts merged together. The problem is, any time I go to search contacts or enter a contact in email or create a contact shortcut, all of them are appearing twice in the selection list.
I went through each contact and split the merges, essentially deleting the dupes, but they are still appearing multiple times in the search/selection lists....and when I resync the dupes come back. I don't see anything that looks like contact data/backup on the SD card and don't know if that is something that can be deleted from the phone's memory or not?
[I know I can deleted all the dupes, but my concern is that I did this already and they came back. Is this data stored anywhere else that it might be pulling it from again when I sync?]
Please direct me to a description of the techniques that the ContentProvider employs to access data. I am trying to understand how it works as well as what is tunable or even if its meant to be tunable. It the memory management tiered, cached, virtual, flat? Is it file based, shmem based, stream based? Can there be a combination thereof?
Any information, suggestions, or references are welcome. The android fundamentals page says: "The data can be stored in the file system, in an SQLite database, or in any other manner that makes sense;" but the android ContenProvider page barely skins the onion.
I just installed Astro File Manager, and I can't find where the Eris stores photos taken with the camera. I have a folder called 'Photos' on my SD card, but that only has photos I copied to it from my PC. (so I could use them as wallpaper). When I use the Albums app, it lets me choose the Photos folder on my SD card, or a folder called 'Camera shots' with 29 photos in it (that I took with the Eris camera), but I don't see that folder anywhere with Astro , even when trying a file search.

I've been playing around with some of them basically just looking @ command syntax for the different programs. Some of them seem promising, and some of them look like they can make ur eris into a stylish paperweight. One app i actviated was $ Toolbox, the only thing this did was echo back Toolbox! in the termina editor lol. Ive seen posts where ppl used dmesg to find out how the internal memory was partitioned. I'll admit i'm a total linux shell newb, but playing around with it is fun for me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was able to move a few files to my X from my computer earlier tonight, but I unplugged it from my computer to do something on the phone, and when I plugged it in later, the computer showed the phone storage (drive F) and SD card (drive G). However, I can't open the SD card, and when I go into the SD Card settings on the phone, it keeps going back and forth between Mount and Unmount. The stuff on the card is there and everything works fine when I'm not connected to the computer. But I can't move anything to my phone via USB since I can't get the computer to recognize the SD card. I also noticed that there's no option to format the SD card (well, it's there, but grayed out).

I spent an hour of useless troubleshooting with him having to turn my phone off and on a bunch and doing a factory reset. After that didn't fix it (surprise surprise, all that inconvenience for nothing) he tells me I'll have to have it replaced with a refurb. I told him that I don't consider a refurbished phone to be an equal replacement and I'm happy to pay a fee of some kind to get a new Eris, just like I would if I went through the insurance (cause those are new, right? if they're refurbs I'll be pissed...). He LAUGHED at me, and said "Every time a phone comes to the end of its term people call in with excuses to get the new model. This is why we don't make exceptions, or else more people like you would be calling in."
