View 3 RepliesI have had my Eris for a week or so and am getting concerned about it's reception. I am noticing the bars will fluctuate wildly while sitting at my desk in an area that has great Verizon coverage! I am looking at my Signal Strength and it is flipping from 89 dBm 12 asu to 0 dBm 0 asu without even moving the phone! What is going on?? Do I have a bad device, or is this normal? Thanks for any info.

1) First and foremost, the four front screen "buttons". These are a major source of aggravation for me. I would estimate that they only work about 25% of the time. The only way to get them to register my commands is to swipe them up or down which usually results in unwanted "taps" on other on screen functios.
2) The pinch zoom function worked great for the first week. Now I can very rarely get it to work.
3) Major lag when flipping through pictures in albums. Major! It's absolutely ridiculous. They're only thumbnails!
4) HTC flash only seems to work for about ten videos. After that, it just won't open when I try to play a video. They only way to get it back is to kill browser with task killer.
5) Not really a complaint, but it would be nice if the browser had options for on screen navigation buttons like back, home, bookmarks, Windows(tabs), etc.
6) The weather and clock widget displays the wrong weather, city, and time at least 95% of the time. The clock is the worst. Not even the same time zone which is extremely uncool. I very rarely look at the small system clock so it has caused me problems on more than a few occasions.
All of this I can live with...except for the four front screen buttons. They aggravate me to the point that I've wanted to throw the phone accross the room on more than one occasion.
How can i make a dynamic flipping screen(like that of iPhone) in Android
I am parsing data through the web service. I want the flipping horizontally rather than vertically. Here is a tutorial where ViewFlipper is used but it is for static data.
Suppose we have 2 activities with their respective xml files: Splash Activity ->splash.xml Menu activity ->menu.xml Now how we can flip between these 2 activities? That is from splash to menu and vice versa.
Does anyone know if there is any way to get your home screen to flip without pulling out the keyboard, and without loading a separate home screen such as home++ ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that my notifications were sporadic, both from e-mail and messages. I think I even missed a call once and was surprised because I never heard it ring/vibrate. After some testing I think I've figured out that when the phone is in my pocket, and I'm sitting at my office desk, the phone is face down in that same, fairly flat level position, that turns the ringer off if you flip your phone over on a desk while in a meeting. Is there any way to turn this feature off?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am planning an app with a "coin flipping simulation" function(Activity) in an Android phone. I am new to 3D (OpenGL) here , and I know there will be a lot of efforts to build from scratch. So , I am looking for an existing 3D engine , which is able to simulate :
Coin flip and drop , with G-Sensor , so that users can shake/wave his phone to see the coins flipping.
Able to get which coin is up or down after the coins drop.
Able to assign how many coins are in the 'hands(or virtual table)'
Able to render different textures to the coins
The simulation must be the more realistic the better. So there should be a built-in gravity algorithm.
OpenSource is welcome , and Commercial is acceptable too.
Can someone give me some suggestions , or existing libraries , or algorithms (gravity ...)
Is there a way to keep the screen on while using the phone? Whenever I make or answer a call, during the conversation the screen goes dark. Sometimes I need to put the phone on mute or speakerphone but I'm afraid I'll disconnect the call pushing either of the hard buttons. Touching the screen doesn't seem to do anything.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a widget or shortcut that would bring up the phone options dialog that is seen when you long press the end/power button? That would solve some of the misery of not being able to easily switch the 3G on/off without using Sense and the HTC Mobile widget.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was sending a text message on my phone and after I exited out of Handcent, my home screen was completely black. I thought this might be a fluke so I powered it off and back on and it still came up black. The lock screen will show, but when I unlock the screen, it was showing nothing but black. I was using Lock 2.0 for lock screen and helix for my home. Finally, we were able to get it back working, but I can't for the life of me tell you what we did to get it working again. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know what could have caused it and how to prevent it in the future?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy boyfriend just bought a Droid Eris (literally got it maybe a month or so ago) and now, all of the sudden, it's replaying the boot screen over and over again. It goes from the "skateboarder droid" to the Verizon startup then to the HTC logo and keeps replaying that sequence. I've tried holding the volume down and power buttons at the same time and then went to "recovery" but once it gets to the Triangle-Exclamation-Point icon, I don't know what to do. I've also tried to mount it to my Mac via USB and had no luck at all.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 2.1 leaked version 3 on my Eris and have question regarding screen wake-up.I am usually using speaker phone while I am on conversation. And after 5-10 minutes, the screen goes to black.Sometimes, I want to turn off speaker phone or use phone to look up some numbers. However, pressing call button or track ball won't wake up the screen. If I press end call button, it just hung up.It seems that there is no way to wake up the screen except hanging up and call again.Anyone has same problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a factory reset on my Eris and went through the setup process. Phone rebooted after being programmed(*228).Got in and started playing around. Downloaded updates for Google Maps and Facebook. I shut my phone off,and now it just hangs at the boot screen. I have tried booting up in recovery mode. All I get is a picture of the eris with a red triangle. Is there anything else I can try before I take it back to Verizon?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Otter box Commuter for my Eris, and I love it. My one question is about the screen protector. Recently my trackball failed, and Verizon is sending me a replacement Eris. How can I take the screen protector off, and not damage it for use on the new one? Is this possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got my Eris on Wednesday and dropped it today and did I mess it up. It feel from about waste level, I'm 5'8 so it wasn't that high. I even slid my foot out to stop a direct hit to the ground which was successful. However this didn't help at all. The entire screen shattered but the phone still works. I know I should have a case for it but in the 9 years of having a cell phone this is the first one I dropped one. I was planning on getting one but haven't had the time to go out and get one yet.
Anyways I though the Eris had the gorilla glass that was basically unbreakable. It doesn't seem like a fall from waste hight, slowed down by my foot, onto the linoleum floor at the food store would destroy the screen. The cracks start at the corner and spider web through the whole screen. Everything I've read about people dropping the phone said it never broke. I am wondering if the screen might actually be defective, probably not but I'm grasping at straws to avoid the insurance deductible. Good thing I have insurance on the phone.
I have the 2.1 leak, so I can't root....yet. I was wondering if, as root, the HTCLockScreen.apk could be removed. If it could be removed, would the stock android lock screen take over?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the update when i hit the phone icon, the "favorites" icon used to be at the bottom right after the green call tab. now there is an icon for call history.
i cannot for the life of me get it back. verizon says it was lost after the upgrade. i put the "people" icon on my now when i need to call a friend who is on my "favorite" list, i hit that icon, it brings me to all contacts and at the bottom i then have to depress favorites which brings up groups, then hit favorites. like 4 steps to make a phone call?
anybody figure out how to get the favorite icon back on the phone screen?
Has anyone tried this screen protector?Amazon.com: Lexerd - HTC Droid Eris TrueVue Anti-glare Cell Phone Screen Protector: Electronics. Is there a better one? I prefer one that shows no finger prints or glare.
