So I see that the Eris is supposed to support MP4 format. I converted a DVD to MP4 and put it on a friends Motorola Droid and it worked great, put it on my Eris and I could see the icon but it said it could not play the video, like it was an unsupported format? I know the Droid is using Android 2.0 and the Eris is using 1.5, anyone else play MP4 movies on their Eris?

I tried a few different google searches on the subject and most of the results were about playing different video format, not recording. I'm wondering if there is a way to change the factory default video recording format to something like generic avi or mpeg formats?
View 5 Replies View RelatedEverytime I start my phone up it says the SD card is or has unsupported filesystem. When you click on it.. it asks to format... you click "format" and then the phone just freezes. If I receive a picture in a txt and I click on it, the phone freezes. When I plug my phone into the computer through the USB cable, mount, and try to format it through the computer it says windows is unable to complete the format. I've reset the phone to factory reset also, no luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSamsung Galaxy S getting "Unsupported file format" on .mp3s in AllShare (DLNA). Want to stream music from Windows 7 computer to Android device. Connected AllShare to Windows Media Player 12 over WiFi G network to "Play file from server on my phone". I can browse PC media folders from the Galaxy S. In AllShare, I click an .MP3 from my PC library, add it to the AllShare playlist, then the circle spins for about 10 seconds and I finally get the pop-up error "Unsupported file format." All .mp3's are DRM-free unprotected files. They play fine directly from the MicroSD card through the standard Android Music app. Disconnected/reconnected WiFi, same results. Read a few other posts on various forums, a few people have the same issue. Looks like fewer are even trying to use DLNA like this. Heard plenty of "hypothetical" troubleshooting steps but still searching for someone who's actually tried the steps & got it to work. Some had success with other DLNA media servers or by using different software altogether. I want to specifically stream music from a PC to my SGS using DLNA & WMP. Great for portability. Any "dittos"? Resolutions? By the way this device is AWESOME (Sprint Epic 4G) Also I realize this post is verbose; I want it to easily appear for others' search results. When I transfer it to the SD and try to watch via the Files button in Froyo it says it can't play the video.Is there an app i can use to watch the video or do I need to be converting it differently? I believe it is in MP4 format now and I think my only other option is mkv.

But, I may eventually want to play this on my computer or on my TV using a streaming media device. My current device plays a LOT of formats, but I have not tried any of my Droid videos. What format does the Droid capture video in? Is it the 3gp I have heard about? If so, I think that is one format I can't play where I want it. I heard that my wife's Incredible actually records in mp4, but then converts to 3gp, but there is something you can install which prevents that conversion and keeps it in mp4. Is there something like that for the Droid?
The Droid can only play MPEG-4s right? If not what's the best format to rip movies to? I tried MPEG4 720X480 and the phone never even saw it on the SD card. Unless I'm doing it wrong (like music, I just created a folder called videos) A certain Tarantino film just leaked and I really wanna watch it during my commute.

On all my previous stupid phones, the contact phone number automatically formated to 901-555-1212. With the Eris it is 9015551212. Anyway to change this? I have searched other threads with the same question but no one ever replies. I have search the net with no luck. Should I just take it that there is no way to automatically change this. I have gone through and put in the extra ticks between the numbers manually but that is a pain in the arse.

The company I work for produces allot of video and we want to target as many devices as possible, but the question came up of what does the Android do? I personally own an Android based phone running 2.1, but I can't seem to get the HTML 5 tag to work. So my I randomly got a notification tonight saying my SD card was corrupted. My Eris told me I had to format it, so I tried through my phone, and nothing happened. When I connected it to the computer, I tried formatting it through there and when I click on format (Using Windows 7 32-bit), it tells me there is no drive at drive F: Does anyone have any ideas? I used to have a microSD converter so I could use it in a card reader but I don't know where its gone too, and don't know if it would help anyways.

i correctly unmounted from pc (safely remove hardware) and then stopped file sharing on eris.
i took the card out and put in a different one (i don't have a card reader and was trying to transfer some stuff).
when i tried to put the original card back in, my finger slipped as i was pushing it in and it got like halfway in and then popped back out.
the eris saw this as an unsafe removal.
now, it keeps telling me "the sd card is blank or using an unsupported .." something. if i tap on the notification, it just takes to me a window to format it. i keep saying yes to format, but it never formats.
i've tried formatting from settings and tried mounting it again and formatting from the pc. when i do that, the pc says that the drive size is 1.08 TB (?!?!?). this is the 8GB sd card that comes with the eris. and it also won't let me format.
what gives? i've tried taking it out and putting it back in. it keeps saying unsafe removal but the option to unmount is grayed out and i can't choose it.
i tried taking it out, turning off the eris, putting the card in and turning back on. still nothing.
what's going on here?
In the camcorder application, I have chosen to record the video's in MP4. However, when you then side load them to the PC or what-not they appear as 3GPP or something. Is 3GPP a version of MP4 or is the camcorder telling fibs? If it's not, how do I record in plain old MP4?

I have quite a few videos recorded in .m4v which will noth play on the Incredible. I have Hand Brake and DVD Fab 7. I tried DVD Fab 7 but it errors out trying to record them in WMV. Hand Brake seems to only record them in .m4v. Anyone have a good converter to recommend? I tried syncing with Media player but it still puts it in the wrong format.

Somebody sent me a video (from new samsung fascinate) and when I tried to watch it I only got audio. I have the arcmedia app, which allows me to watch the video, but I think the audio is messed up. This video is in mp4. So why can't I watch this video with my stock media player?
