HTC Droid Eris :: Now Contacts Can't Sync With Facebook

Before I upgraded to 2.1 OTA, my contacts had no problem syncing with Facebook (both manual and automatic). Here is what happens: I go to a contact, find the bar that says "Link to Facebook" or whatever it says, click it, then type in the name of the person to search Facebook friends, but no matter what I do it says that there are no matches. No one else has reported this problem, so I'm guessing it isn't a problem inherent to 2.1. Could you guys provide some input as to what I need to do to fix this?

So in early May, I got the Android update thing for my Droid Eris. I started it, and it took forever. Ever since then, I can't link my Facebook account to my phone. I've seen a lot of similar situations but nothing exactly the same. I can't link any of my phone contacts to my Facebook contacts. I have the Facebook for HTC Sense and the Facebook app. I can log on and view my Facebook accout, etc but when I go to People my contacts don't have pictures. I've tried to go to menu > settings > account & sync and remove my Facebook for HTC Sense account and manually sync or whatever. Still didn't work. A "force close" message appears every time I try to sync, yet my Google accounts will sync. I've tried going to each contact and manually link them to their Facebook profile but nothing even loads, as in it will say I have no friends to choose from (whomp whomp). I finally gave in and installed that Sync My Pix app but I'm not satisfied. Mainly, because that app saves all the contacts pictures in my photo albums and it doesn't do their status updates, etc. Really, I just don't want an app to make my phone do something it's already suppose to do.

I have done what most of you have done, 2.2 root, blah blah blah!!! Thx to all the hard working, talented devs!

I removed some bloatware using TB and removed the apk responsible for updating my facebook contacts profile pics. I notice this yesterday as my wife had changed her profile pic and status they have not updated in my contacts. This has been going on since the night I 2.2 it and rooted and removed the bloatware. Does any body know the apk (system app) that needs to be re-installed. I have downloaded the system apps.rar file and have all of them, I just don't know which one it is.

Sync my pix apk sucks. removed some bloat ware using titbck up. I backed all apps b4 removing. But titbck up won't let me restore them. They have a strike through line on them. I need the social networking.apk and motoblur contacts sync apk. Can somebody up loaf or let me know how to restore them. I'm thinking about sbf'or will a factory data reset be ok?

I have facebook synced up to my contacts so that their fb pics can also be their contact photo, except they only show up half the time. is anyone else having this problem? it was sorta annoying before but now it's really bothering me because I just DL'd the handcent update and now they have the contact pics next to the chat bubble. Is there anyway to keep the pics on there at all times or any reason they go away?

Just wondering if there is an app or a procedure to get your facebook contacts to automatically sync with your phones contacts as well as your google contacts. For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. On my Droid there was a setting to only sync Facebook data for contacts who also were Google contacts. On the X, there doesn't seem to be that option anymore. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?

Apologies if there is a thread about this already (couldn't find it)... I used to be able to upload a mobile pic directly to Facebook and it would show on my wall/in my friends' feeds. Lately, my pics go directly to my "Mobile Pics" album, and do not show on my wall unless I publish the entire album again. I've checked my Facebook settings, and everything is set to 'Publish Content to my Wall", but my mobile pics continue to get uploaded directly to the album and do not publish. Anyone else having trouble with this? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the phone, the FB app, or my Facebook settings.

I logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.

I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".

All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.

Does anybody know what system apk is responsible for syncing and updating contacts profile pictures and statuses from face book.I am 2.2 rooted, bloatware removed and I removed a couple others my self. my contacts have doubled since syncing with Facebook. There are some FB contacts I'd like to keep, and others I would like to delete. I plan on deleting those but don't want them to re-appear at a later date. Is there a way to turn off FB syncing after just the initial sync? I think that's my best option at this point.New here so thanks for the info in advance and I hope to get enough knowledge to help out on the forums soon.
