Today my phone got up to the temp of 123.6 F. Is this hot enough that I should bring my phone to Verizon for them to check it out?

View 17 Replies View RelatedWe originally bought 5 for our business. Of those 5, 2 have been returned and exchanged for Blackberries. We continue to have terrible Signal Strength, and in 2 phones a very loud echo. All other little bugs aside, im looking for some answers. Since I didnt see any side by side tests, I thought I would
1. I tested the signal strength at 5 locations. All locations had great 3g speeds for all the phones. The first INC is an original phone, and the second INC is a replacement.
Droid Eris INC1 INC2
-75 -80 -98 -96
-85 -74 -101 -100...
My question is, how can i have GREAT 3g speeds with all the phones, yet have a terrible signal strength. I'm on my 2nd phone and still have the same issues. ( So its not a bad batch)
2. The first thing the other 2 users of the phones mentioned right out of the box there was a very defined echo. The echo was of their own voice, not the other person on the line. I've noticed it on and off, but nothing to bad. People also complain they can hear the echo, making us hard to hear on the phone. I really like the Incredible, but I guess unless someone from Verizon tells me to wait for an update, or someone here has a solution Im gonna have to go back to the Blackberry. Anyone else having the same problems?....
I am getting bored with my current wallpapers that came with the eris. Of The Damned posted a link a few months ago for a Picasa web album with designs and pics for android wallpapers... Oliver Erben android wallpapers... The stuff in there is great! I can only get the small icon version of the pic to bring up the "save image" option? when I hold down on the image, not the full pic. Because off this it's really grainy as a background on the phone. Anyone know how to do this, or get other free and safe (no ads or bad stuff) wallpapers on my eris?? I am concerned with some of the wallpaper apps in the market because of all of the badmouthing in the reviews. Help out an amateur! Thanks in advance for your responses!

I press the right hand power button, and see "Airplane Mode is on" and the time. Battery indicates full, time is correct. If I push the MENU button, I feel the buzz and the screen goes black with htc in the middle. Pushing the power button goes DARK, then back to Airplane Mode. All four touch points (Home, menu, back, and search) produce the buzz but do nothing. I haven't found the RESET button, and it's not in the Index. What basic, simple thing have I missed? Unfortunately, there's no 10 year old kid around to show me how to operate this #$!! thing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got the Motorola Droid last week, and I love it. But I do have one problem with it. I've noticied that, and only when I'm in sunlight, when I take or make a call the screen goes off before I bring it to my ear and will stay off even when I pull it away to hang up. I have to wait for the other person to hang up and then slide out my keyboard to get the unlock screen to pop up. Inside however, there are no problems. Anyone else having this problem, and if so what did you do to fix it.? Technical said they don't know what's wrong with it, but I'm going to call them back after the holiday. Also I noticied that my alarm occasionaly doesn't work. Is this normal? I did download a pay app alarm clock, but I don't know yet if it will work 100%.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there anything I can do to get a better signal? I have one 3G bar all the time no matter where I am. I tried a *228 option 2 and it didn't help. Any other codes or suggestions. It is my 2nd Eris and I know Verizon wont take back a "low signal" phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust updated my prl per another thread which incidently didn't change and now I have the dreaded 50% without signal bug as well as awake and up time at 100%!I am a newbie and have no clue what to do as my phone was fine until I updated the prl (which didn't change!).
View 10 Replies View RelatedReceived an update on my Eris a few days back for Google Maps (I think that was the application that was targeted). Since then, when I use the Navigator the GPS has had a problem connecting. Sometimes it searches for a GPS signal for almost 30 minutes. I'm in the heart of Denver and have not had this problem before the update. Did anyone else update and are now having connection issues?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the past two days, I've had no service. I was using xtrROM4 when it first started. So I went back to EvilEris and it worked for a little while, then yesterday stopped working again. So I re-flashed xtrROM4 and it worked all night and this morning. Now it's gone again. Can't make a call, send a text, get online, nothing.
I'm at work, and I never had the 'best' signal, but I'd go by a window and be fine. Now nothing, no matter where I go.
I notice no signal where i would usually have 2 or 3 bars. is there a fix to this? cause its draining my battery if i look at battery usage. i heard doing airplane mode or something fixes it but idk.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs this correct? Will the new 2.1 update this month bring 16 million colour support to the x10?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to the second 2.1 leak for the eris and my usually always shows that I have one or two bars of signal strength but when I go to about phone it shows that i have -89db signal strength, is that good and is there just something wong with the bar signal indicator or is that a bad signal and if so how can I increase my signal? I already tried using the *228 number thing to update my prl but that didn't help. Before the leak i would have three or for bars
View 6 Replies View RelatedNo matter where I am I NEVER get more than 2 bars and more often than not, there's only 1 bar! Really? I'm not convinced it is only cosmetic. I seem to get most of my calls, but occasionally they go through to voicemail even though I've got the phone right next to me. It is so frustrating to be in the house with no signal! I always had at least 3 signals in my house.
Has anyone contacted Verizon about this? It is the only thing bothering me from 2.1 upgrade. Other than that I find the phone is truly awesome, but it IS a phone! However, I'm afraid to call Verizon tech people who always seem to go through the basics without any real regard to your issue, and have the screw up the phone with some random setting they want to try.
I have had my Eris for a week or so and am getting concerned about it's reception. I am noticing the bars will fluctuate wildly while sitting at my desk in an area that has great Verizon coverage! I am looking at my Signal Strength and it is flipping from 89 dBm 12 asu to 0 dBm 0 asu without even moving the phone! What is going on?? Do I have a bad device, or is this normal? Thanks for any info.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm certain this is a router issue seeing as my Eris can find all other hot spots, but my phone cannot detect my Belkin Wireless N+ router, even when it's very close. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and how to maybe fix it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedCouldnt find my answer on the previous topics. But my phone on verizon hardly has full signal. Im running 2.1 on a brand new phone that i bought off a guy from craigslist. It seems my signal is only 1 to 2 bars most of the time, giving me around -86dbm. Sometimes it will be 3 bars, then it drops to one or none. Wondering if this is killing my battery too. Is there some update that fixes this? Or some test to perform if whats happeneing is normal or what?
View 20 Replies View RelatedReally interested to find out if in fact the fluctuating signal bars (and numeric value in settings) are fixed or not. I'm reading various things. Dealbreaker for me if it's not. I realize it's a UI issue only but how would I know the real signal strength if I'm say traveling and outside my usual comfort zone as to known coverage?
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot a new Eris here and am having an issue. When using wifi the signal strength is extremely low and only holds the signal for about 6 to 10 feet away. All the other phones work on this router and a friends router, so the issue is definitely the phone. is there any settings I could change that might help?
View 6 Replies View Relatedneed a cheap fix for boost at work only able to text and thats if I walk around my office to catch a signal.
some stips though: cannot hook up to our computers needs to be cheap I/T cannot find out must go through concrete and rebar no I'm not housed in a jail but work in one.
I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this, I have searched around a bit so sorry if this has been covered before but this is my second Droid X to do this. When I lock the screen, my signal strength goes from 3-4 bars down to 1 bar after a few minutes. When I quickly tap the home button, but do NOT unlock the screen I can see that there is only 1 bar, and even sometimes the 3G icon is gone, (i.e. no data is transmitting, but I am getting a cell signal). Once I unlock the screen, I immediately will see the bars jump to either 3-4, depending on my location, and/or the 3G will pop back up (if it was missing in the first place).
My conclusions about this are that this is a reason why some devices crush the battery life and others don't. And, there is an issue with the phone hardware/software radio communications. If when the screen is locked it is losing signal and constantly going back and forth between 1x/3g/no data, that would explain why some people are having their battery dead within 5-6 hours. This phenomena is occurring on my second Droid X. I have yet to notify Motorola formally, other than through Verizon, but I wanted to see if anyone else out there is experiencing the same issues. Mind you, it is sometimes sporadic and others very consistent! There are times when the phone will be very hot in my pocket, and I suspect this is the reason. I know how to back out of applications and i can confirm that I do not have any running in the background that are sucking data.
Please keep in mind, I experience this with and without task killers and I live 5 minutes from Downtown Minneapolis where coverage is excellent. I also do not use Juice Defender or any other battery management program which may cut data when the screen is locked.
Has anyone worked out if it is possible to set one of the buttons on the bottom of the Desire to bring up the lock screen rather than using the power button at the top. Only just got the phone 3 days ago but this is (sor far) the only niggle I have.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got my Eris this past week and am loving the phone. I traded someone on Craigslist for it. My only complaint is that at my house I get poor reception. My family has Verizon and they don't complain about poor signal with their phones. I could never get a signal especially in my room (the basement) on my Samsung Rogue and it's the same thing with my Eris. Half the time I get 0 bars in my room. I sometimes only get 1 or 2 bars when I am at work. I did notice that when I was driving the other day it kept going from 3 bars down to 1 and back up to 2.
My Eris is not rooted or anything. I just got the phone, I'm afraid to root it cuz I might mess something up. So if someone can help me out that would be great. I tried dialing 228 and it didn't work.
I run Wireless Tethering and able to pick up a signal from my laptop. My cousin can also pick up a signal from his iPhone but my brother can't pick it up from his Droid Eris.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that my wifi signal strength is crap. I can be in the same room about 4 ft away from my router and my signal strength is 2 bars on my wifi. Also on my 3g coverage I am at 1-2 bars max. When I 1st got my phone never had this problem. Any ideas?
View 16 Replies View RelatedSo my virgin mobile phone that I had a while ago had this same problem, but less severe. I had fluctuations in the signal strength. Cover the side of the phone and the signal will go down, uncover, signal goes up.
Basically what I found, or in this case hypothesize, is that the internal antenna may be somewhere on one of the sides of the phone. When you cover the side the signal bars seem to go down. Hold the phone on the top corner and they may go back up. I've done this in a few places around my usual usage areas and all seem to follow this trend. Im not saying that correlation leads to causation, but im just saying maybe we're overlooking something here. This usually happens on the right side. However, I am puzzled that this would mean flesh interferes with radio waves...Also, I'm not complaining or questioning why as I've read several other threads on this issue and side with those who think the bars mean nothing. I've been able to make perfectly good phone calls with 0 bars, no dropped calls, and perfect sound quality.
I would like to know. Not even rooting helped the difference in signal from 1.5 to 2.1 (nonroot or root versions)
One theory is that the 2.1 signal values are different and thus report a difference in signal in the bars and in settings.
My Eris is just no longer working as a phone. The only place I get good signal strength is at the Verizon store. I think the radio is dying because the other 3 Eris droids in my house (wife and 2 kids) all show 15 - 20 dB higher (less negative) signal strength.
I went to VZW store for some help and all they could do was #228 option 1 and *228 option 2 and recommend that I get a task killer app and use it 3 times a day.
So, anybody know how to get past the sales side and get to somebody that can determine if the phone is broke?
Data and apps all work fine, I get 3G everywhere, and it's rooted (so is the wife's) using XTRROM 4.2(me) XTRSense 4.2 (wife) - kids not rooted.
