HTC Droid Eris : Able To Go Back To 1.5 From 2.1 OTA?
May 17, 2010I have not tried this myself, but somebody at Android Central forums claims that you can install the 1.5 MR2 update over the 2.1 OTA update after upgrading from 1.5.

Apr 7, 2010So I've had it with 2.1 v2 randomly going completely silent requiring me to re-start the phone to hear people/make call/or hear notifications. I want to go back to 1.5. My question is, can a Verizon rep flash the phone back to stock software? I originally had an issue with my phone and the rep at the store flashed my phone with the stock software and I basically started from day one all over again.

Jun 20, 2010My Eris was working so much better before the 2.1 OTA update. I was just wondering if it is possible to go back to 1.5? If so, would my phone go back to working like it did before or would there be a chance it'd still be acting up? I really like some of the features of 2.1 but i'd much rather have a working phone!

Apr 30, 2010I went to Verizon on my lunch break, and got assisted by the actual store supervisor, which was pretty cool. He was a blackberry guy, and didn't seem to know much about Android. Really nice though. He basically had me do basic diagnostics, but when i explained that it must be hardware in my phone not working since my facebook contacts where not syncing correctly. I also complained about dialer lag, and that i shouldn't have to reset my phone every month to keep it fast.
Now, it's clear that I was running the 2.1 leak. When he compared my settings to the ones on the store's Eris, he goes, "Are you running any other hack or anything on the phone?" I pleaded innocent and was like, "No...I just got the OTA from you guys. I don't know why they're different." He didn't once check the phones "About" section, and seemed to care more about fixing the problem. He had a "tech" look at it, but they couldn't figure anything out.
After 45 minutes or so, he says that if I can show him Facebook syncing on the stores Eris with -my- account, he'd swap the phone as defective for a referb. I did, and he did it, no questions asked. Now, back on 1.5...I also now have a pretty brand new phone. (No scratches or anything). I will say...in the time i had the phone with me at work till getting home now....1.5 is horrible. Oh. My. God. Thank GOD I flashed the leak when I did...the phone is horrible. So, project for tonight is Root. Wish me luck.
HTC Droid Eris :: Can't Get Contacts To Back Up
Sep 10, 2010Sorry about the new post but I have been searching all day and haven't found one that's what I need. I had to get a replacement for my eris due to trackball issues. I got my replacement today and can't seem to get my contacts onto the new phone. The one thing that I have been able to find out is that I should have saved all of my contacts as Google contacts. I tried using Lookout and was able to transfer my pictures, but only 5 contacts (the only google contacts I have). I also tried MyBackUp but it is asking me for a pin number it never gave me. I downloaded vCardIO and exported my contacts to the sd card, but now when I put the sd card into the new phone it says that there is NOTHING on it, none of my documents- nothing. Is there any way I can change all my contacts to Google contacts? I don't know what else to do, so any help would be appreciated.

Jun 24, 2010Hey everybody I have a question I was hoping you fine people could help me with. I just got a warranty replacement for my eris. I had shapewriter on my old phone and I loved it. Now that I'm back to the standard keyboard its killing me. Since shapewriter is now off the market I can't redownload the app. Is there any way to get shapewriter off my old phone onto the new one? Or is there anyone that has another suggestion? Any help would be appreciated.

Jul 15, 2010This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.

Seems like every forum I find is either 9,000 posts of people talking about completely unrelated subjects or is for the Moto Droid. I would think there would be a program out there that would do this automatically by now.

It was called SlideIT keyboard and it was ugly but performed SO well I kept it. Now they have a trial and it is annoying as hell and doesnt have dictionary saving unless you buy the new version.. Jan 4, 2010Forgive me if someone else has asked this, but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.I understand that the proximity/light sensor turns off the screen when the Eris is next to your ear to prevent "face dailing", etc. And, I understand the screen comes back on when the sensor senses light. Ok, that works fine.BUT, what do you do if you are using the phone in the dark? When I pull the phone away, the screen will not come back on because it does not sense light. For example, trying to delete a voicemail if you're using the phone in the dark. I've tried every button to re-activate the screen, and the only one that will work is the "End" key. And that obviously ends the call.

May 12, 2010Been on 2.1v3 since it came out and just today I noticed in the market a couple of games are now showing in my Downloads as Purchased. I bought them back on 1.5 and haven't seen them since the 2.1v1,2,3 updates.
They are SmartPix games Tan'n'Feed and CrystalLight Defence ( and they are great to play, by the way ).
Anyway, I'm 99.9% positive they have not been in my Downloads in the Market since I started down the 2.1 path. Now they are...weird.
Wonder if the 2.1 rollout triggered something in the marketplace?
HTC Droid Eris :: Calender Erased / Get It Back?
Jan 6, 2010Just checked my agenda on my Eris and all my entries are gone. Went to Google Calender and all me events are missing as well. They were there an hour ago. All I've done in the last hour is plug the charger in. Any thoughts or ideas. Worse case I re enter the events, there were only 6 calender events
