I have google sky map on my desire ,was working fine , however now when i open it the horizon is miles out and wanders about when i move the phone , so the stars must be out too, is there a recallibration that needs resetting, have uninstalled and it is the same after new install.

I'm having trouble developing an app, while it works in API level 10, it does not in API level 7. I wondery why and I've been looking for a site that summarizes the differences, or the new features from one API level to another and cannot find it.

There seems to be a problem with an uncaught exception and reflection, although....why does it work on API level 10?
Is there any word on a hardware keyboard similar to the Pre or Blackberries on the horizon? I hate the horizontal keyboards which aren't as easy to type and also take more time going from portrait to landscape just to answer the tons of emails I get. The Pre/Pixi is very good as is the Curve/Bold which is rumored to have touchscreen some time soon. Anything on the horizon in Android?

Forums suggest that you can do this by going to Settings -> Accounts, however for me I only have the option to add a "corporate" account, i.e. an Exchange account, not a Google Account. I wish to add this Google Account to test c2dm from the emulator. Does anyone know how to associate a Google account with the emulator in this build?

It's annoying because sometimes you'll start the day with only 89% charge instead of 100%. My friend also has a Desire but is not experiencing this problem - the only difference between them is the version of kernel. View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since Google started allowing offline maps (both in the old Google Maps incarnation, and in the current one), I have found that when I download a map section for offline viewing, often there are many details missing (small street names, for example).
Any way to make Google maps download map tiles to their maximum level of detail (the level you could get if you zoomed in all the way), including all street names? You'd think this would be a given, but it seems not to be.
Searching around for discussions of this, most articles and forum threads are just about tile caching in general, not level of detailed cached.
I was just wandering if there is a shortcut to find the exact battery level on my Desire? I know you can go the 4636 route but thats slightly long winded, and most battery widgets/notification bar icons actually seem to use battery (i have properly tested this!). I know you can go into 'about phone' and do it that way but that just shows it as a series of bars, not as an actual figure.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a Desire partly because once the 32GB comes out (on pre-order) I'll be using it as an mp3 player as well as a phone. Managed to find a good program to sync my music with it (MediaMonkey) and now the only other hurdle to this seems to be the volume levels which are too low for my liking. Will simply getting headphones with a volume control push the volume up further? I'm planning on buying some headphones for it that'll include a mic, volume control and maybe a couple of buttons to control the music, but is there anything that has all these? I'm not keen on bluetooth devices in the slightest, so just want some super-duper in-ear headphones really.

When I hear calls using phone's default speaker, the sound comes okay till one volume level. If I move up, the sound distorts.
If I use speaker-phone, things are worse. After a certain level, sound crackles a lot.
For music via phone's loud speaker, the sound doesn't crackle. But as identified by many, I can hear music with no bass & lots of treble.
Is this normal for Desire?
Comparing it with my wife's N95 (which has stereo speakers) was a nightmare for me.
I have push my first App to the market : it's a widget that unlock the restriction that limit the level the sound when you use a headset. It's take the form of a widget with a on/off switch. The apps is at 1� (I need the money to set a humanity project in Madagascar, so, it's will probably became free later). It's work on HTC Desire 2.2, and maybe on others devices. View 4 Replies View RelatedI was using satnav at the weekend; the battery level indicator on my Desire went from green to orange (20%) and the existent data connection dropped off straightaway. I was unable to re-establish a data connection even after switching the phone off and on again. I was in an area of reasonable/good network signal strength. The GPS continued to function however so I could still see my progress on the map but a data connection message appeared.
When I got home the phone continued to function on WiFi (with GPS on too) for nearly another two hours before it turned itself off, so there was plenty of "juice" left. My question is as to whether there is anything I can adjust to ensure that the battery continues to function fully (ie maintain a data connection) until it runs out? Or whether at 20% the phone is somehow set up to end a data connection? I have now got myself an HTC car charger to make sure the battery will not drop that low again when I am using satnav.
Just a few questions about the brightness on the Desire. What is the default brightness? What brightness setting do you use? Do you use auto brightness?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have updated my tools to revision 7 and now I can't do a build as it says the API level is obsolete. I can understand warning but it won't build at all. I am using android.bat to generate a build.xml for release versions. So the build.xml gets made from scratch each time. If I switch to --target 8 it builds but I have already released it on the Android Market with 6. Won't this mean that some people that have Android 2.0.1 won't be able to run it?

It may be a low to mid level phone, but can anyone explain how that makes a difference on whether someone should buy the phone or not. Is there really anything that intensive that people would be running on their Android phone (except 3D games)?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some way in Android to play in-memory audio in a manner analogous to the waveOutOpen family of methods in Windows programming. The waveOut... methods essentially let an application create arrays of sample values (like in-memory WAV files without the headers) and dump them into a queue for sequential playback. Windows transitions seamlessly from one array to the next, so as long as the application keeps dumping arrays into the queue ahead of playback, the program can create and play continuous audio of any arbitrary length. The Windows API also incorporates a callback mechanism that the application can use to indicate progress and load additional buffers.
As far as I can tell, the Android audio API lets an application play a file from local storage or a URL, or from a memory stream. Is there any way to get Android to "queue up" MediaPlayer.start() calls so that one player transitions (without glitches) into the next upon play completion? It appears that Jet does something like this, but only with its own internal synthesis engine. Is there any other way of accessing Android audio in a waveOutOpen way?
