The trackpad in my desire is a bit "leggy". I don't know if this is normal but in menus it only moves 1 tile at a time even if I drag all my finger over it. I have seen blackberry trackpads and they are supper smooth Sometimes when editing text I have to move it 3-5 times to get to the right position.

Does anyone have problems using the optical trackpad to edit text? If I'm (for example) writing a SMS and then want to navigate back though the text to correct a typo, I find it very difficult to get the cursor to the required position. Sometimes it seems too sensitive and jumps more lines / positions than I want; and sometimes it seems not sensitive enough! Is it just me, or do others have problems using the trackpad?

On my existing very old touch scree phone this is a big issue as i can never get the cursor exactly where i want Another trackpad question - what purpose does it have when browsing, does it highlight links allowing quick navigation without using the pinch and zoom?
Final track pad question- do you use it? The battery- with moderate to heavy use will it ALWAYS last a long day 7-11 for example? Hows the froyo update, is sense still as smooth as ever?

I searched about nexus since it is similar and saw a few things about the app LOCKBOT, i recommend you atleast try the free version and see, it gives you unlock with the trackpad button and the ability to do custom lockscreen with different styles like Iphone, and different android locks. THis was one grip i didnt like about sense. Stock Android has the ability to swipe to unlock or swipe the other way to mute sounds, which is a nice feature, although i prefer my iphones switch the best
The bad...Ive read stuff about it crashing and being laggy, now i havnt experiended this on the INC, it runs super smooth. But i have been having a few times where the front button will not unlock the phone, maybe an update will fix this or something, but its worth a shot to look at.
When i run my finger over the optical sensor from left to right it seems like the button is dipped to the right a little. Anyone else?

Is this correct or should that illuminate as well ? Switching on my phone in the dark I can see all buttons except for the trackpad (not that I use it that much), just want confirmation that this is correct?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have used my HTC desire for a month now and I am very pleased with this ultimate android phone.I have only one issue with the phone/system though. The optical trackball is hyper sensitive. Whenever I use the phone ouside and the sun is shining, then the track ball activates due to the light and the phone/system uses the input to always scroll to the right. This is pretty annoying because this means that I cannot use the phone outside. Resently I also discovered that a small lamp next to my couch can activate the trackball as well.Does anyone know if its possible to disable the optical trackball or am I the only one who has this problem? If so then maybe it's a hardware error and I will try to return the phone.As a temporarily solution I have placed a sticker on top of the track ball.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay so I know you can turn the screen ON with the Track Pad. Using a custom ROM. I have my phone set up this way, but is there an app out there that allows you to turn it OFF again, again using the track pad?
It seems weird that you can do one, but not the other, and I'd rather just press the button facing me, than have to pick my phone up to use the power button. Just to kill the screen.
1) Recently i have noticed that the optical track pad is not working although i can press it.
2) It has also decided that it wants to turn itself off at random times possibly twice a day.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix these??
Had my desire on charge last night as usual, woke up in middle of the night, hit the button on the top of the desire so i could see the time, but rather than the screen lock appearing my homepage appeared but it was rapidly flashing between that and a white screen and was unresponsive. I have the spinning earth and moon live wallpaper for weeks now and the moon was moving back and forth a tiny amount much like when you press pause on an old VCR.
After a few seconds swiping with my finger it eventually responded and the flickering went but came back when i swiped screens once more. i unplugged it from the charger and it did it again.
I then took the battery out and put it back in and since then it seems to be working normally. I also noted that the clock had been frozen at 00.15, when i resolved the prob it jumped to the true time of 03.30. 00.15 was probably about the time i put it on charge so has plugging it in caused it to lock up?
I have spent the better part of a day with this and still am without functioning wi-fi. Let me summarise:decided to flash my Orange branded Desire with the stock Froyo RUU on Friday eve. created goldcard, downloaded RUU, all went well and very quickly. Noticeable battery life improvement with Froyo, even smoother when scrolling etc etc. All good Stupidly this morning, I decide to check for an update, without my goldcard inserted. Installed update to 2.10.405.20. Wifi dies I tried instructions to revert back to stock 2.1, using same goldcard. I had issues with this so had to create new goldcard on a new sdcard.after numerous attempts I finally was able to start the update only for the bootloader screen to display CID error: update fail!I know this has been answered on various forums (including here) but the info is now so disjointed and has not been update in about 3 weeks, that I feel a little lost now. Software spec:

I have a desire with slcd and I installed an old ROM for AMOLED screens. It resulted in my phones screen being unresponsive. I bought the phone from someone who rooted it and don't quite understand how to do this procedure. Also if there's anyone from Southern Ontario (golden horseshoe area) that could do it for me that would be great as well.
View 10 Replies View Relatedjust got my desire HD on friday and i've noticed a massive problem already. a part of the screen is unresponsive or just doesn't work properly. its a massive pain to try and type on and sometimes a button to press is in that gap on the screen so essentially you cant select it? a friend of mine has got an experia phone and he said he had the same issue but, when he did a 'manual update on his computer using software on phone?' it fixed it. so i'm hoping this could be a software fix and hopefully not have to wait to send it back.i hope you guys have heard of a problem like this and could really help me
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince about 10pm last night my dhd has become unbelievably slow. every key press (whether it's accessing a menu or typing a word) has a delay and even loading my inbox takes several seconds. the circular sync logo is displaying itself most of the time on the top right of the screen, so it could be something to do with that? i've tried rebooting the phone, going offline etc. but nothing seems to be able to fix it.anyone else had this problem with a desire or desire hd before? it worries me a little. i hate stuff like this...
View 7 Replies View RelatedMY SITUATION: My phone was rooted with unrevoked3. I tried to install one of the modaco ROMS and did not realize that it was incompatible with my phone because my Desire has a newer type of screen (not amoled) but SLCD. This caused the phone screen to go black on start up and be unresponsive. It was frightening because at first the HTC bootscreen (green HTC on white) had black streaks through it , then goes black. But don't worry it is easily redeemed in below instructions. You need the latest ROM in zip form, put onto your phone and run recovery. Sweet as suzi, you will be debranded (if you were in the process of doing this , remember to make your gold card).
ISSUE:
1. Desire screen not switching on at all even though phone switches on.
2. Phone boots but doesn't go beyond bootloader/recovery/fastboot
3. Can get into recovery even though nothing comes on screen (test: press volume down and power. Wait for 10 seconds. Press volume down. Press power. Phone should vibrate. Wait 20 seconds. Phone should now be in recovery mode.)
4. Can get into fastboot (back+power)
5. No goldcard
CAUSE of ORIGINAL AUTHOR'S ISSUE:
I had Aura Sense7.9+AlphaRev S-Off. Cause::Ran a very old RUU just because I wanted to bring things back to stock. The RUU overwrote my HBOOT from 0.93 to god knows what. Turned out, the RUU was for amoled screens and not for SLCD screen. So even though the phone turned on, the screen never did......
So, are there a lot of people out there using the optical trackpad? I've had the phone for a while and....I don't think I've ever actually used it except to mess around. Are there some things that it makes easier? Better? Faster?
View 32 Replies View RelatedDon't know if this was ever posted, never saw it. If you want to be able to wake your phone with the trackpad, go to the market and get "No Lock". Its an app to disable the slide down to unlock. Well I found out that the trackpad will now wake the phone. Just click the trackpad. No need for the top button. Also the side buttons will wake the phone. So if you keep your phone in your pocket be careful.
