Just want to start a thread,(hope to be a sticky) about the camera applications, is the stock camera the best? or is there better alternatives, for speed and quality?
Im using the 5x Pro Zoom, very quick to take a picture, but quality not too sure, and also on these froyo 2.2 roms, is that stock camera better than 2.1?

I have a problem with my camera so I try to install are the 4.2 camera on my haipad I9300 mtk 6577. No success so now I want to go back to the original ics camera and gallery.. Unfortunately I delete the original ones when I install the 4.2 camera. So I download the camera apk and Google gallery. Apk and put in system.app the gallery shows up but not the camera. The gallery crash very often. I cannot make the camera shows up. Every time I turn on the phone it appears "Android update". I don't have a recovery.
View 8 Replies View Relatedim running miui and i use swype so i deleted the stock keyboard and now the language and keyboard part of the setting menu force closes and when i long press in a text box and i select input method no options come up and i tried reinstalling it which is HTc_IME.apk and then phone reboots, and as you might know MIUI can be a little unstable but still.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I rooted 2.2 with UnrEVOked 3.21, and I'm pleased that I have Titanium Backup and Wifi Tether. The only other two things I wanted to have were uncapped FPS, and some better battery life. In another thread, I read that you may use a different kernel without using a different ROM. I downloaded KiNgxKernel's BFS #9 and installed, and while I got the frame rate I was looking for, the operating system went in to super laggy mode. It was unusable, so I booted in to recovery and restored the stock kernel from my nandroid backup.
Does anyone have any recommendation on a kernel I can use with the stock ROM?
Also, one other question, I constantly see people advise that cache clearing is vital when changing kernels. I am only aware of Dalvik cache, and the menu option in recovery to clear that cache. I also read many posts that say clearing it is unreliable and only possible with a full wipe. Can someone clarify please?

View 14 Replies View Related1. after taking a picture, and clicking on the thumbnail to view it, have the phone let you view it in portrait, not landscape only.
2. on board image resizing, the 5, 3 and 2mp options dont cut it. let us choose 640x480(all MP's), 800X600(all MPs) 1024x768, etc..
3. when in camera settings, when you click back to get back to the options it closes the whole settings slider. which is annoying.

I've just noticed that I no longer get a notification of "Charge Only" in the top bar when I plug my HTC in to my PC via the USB cable!
I've gone into the settings for "Connect to PC" and it doesn't matter what I select, I still cant connect to use "HTC Sync" or "Disk drive" and yet the orange light comes on and the battery indicator says it IS charging!
I used to have it set to charge only and if I wanted to sync or copy to the SD card, I'd just drag down the top bar that lists widget locker and my mobile internet usage and I could select it and choose what I wanted to do - only now there is nothing there to select!
I've today replaced the trial power widget with the "Widgetsoid switcher" - could that have something to do with it? - I've tried adding USB connection and USB tethering and they dont seem to work either!

I think its code is a bit itchy. any way had seen Karbonn A18 with almost same hardware but running ICS 4.0.3 with kernel version 4.0.13 have the stock camera autofocus working great .My A100 is having 3.0.8 Kernel.

First off, my X is rooted, running the original leaked 2.2. This morning, my stock camera app stopped working. I click on the app to open it, and it flashes a black screen for 1-2 seconds before returning to the home screen. It was working perfectly fine last night when I took 20+ pictures. The strange thing is that I have done absolutely nothing as far as messing with the phone. Not even a single app downloaded for the past 2 weeks (been busy on vacation!). The hardware is fine too, because I can take photos with Vignette. A battery pull and about 5 restarts has not solved the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or is my only option to do a factory reset? Also, can I restore all my apps easily with titanium backup paid edition?

I tried taking the Camera .apk file, but I just get a message saying "application not installed" when I try to install it, and "there was a problem parsing the package" if I try to install it from /root.
Yes unknown whatever installs are allowed. And I've tried a hundred and seven different installer/file manager apps, but they all direct me to the same default installer.
Other apps I'd want to take are the calculator and video player.
I upgraded to the new 2.1 leak. Noticed the stock camera app doesn't auto rotate. It stays static in landscape mode. Is this the way it supposed to be or can it auto rotate just like it did in 1.5?

I'm trying to make sure I'm not crazy. I have been sitting here at work trying to find an alternative to the photo software that comes on the Eris. I have never been happy with the stock camera app and the pictures it takes. I downloaded an app called Camera 360 from the market. I've been taking several pictures and comparing them side by side. To me, Camera 360 looks like it takes much better pictures. I have emailed myself 3 or 4 pictures so I can compare them on the PC. The stock camera seems to be very blurry when blown up onto a computer monitor. The Camera 360 pictures seem to be clearer and sharper. Granted I'm sitting here at my desk taking pictures of the wall and my feet, so it's possible the Camera 360 software will stink outside.

A couple days ago my cousin and I finally got to sit down and root his phone, he was at 2.1 and I now have him at 2.2 with BB. Yesterday he asked me about the camera quality diminishing and if it was a common effect of rooting and I didn't believe it was. So anyway, does anyone have any experience with the camera losing quality after root? Like I was saying, I've always thought mine was shitty and I just lived with it.

It's like it's instantly corrupted. It sucks cause I had some good pictures and video but now they are basically gone. I have downloaded another camera app and I get reliable pictures that aren't corrupted. But I would prefer to use the stock one cause it just seems to react quicker. What apps do you use for taking pictures?
