HTC Desire :: Need Password Manager App?
Jul 4, 2010
Can anyone recommend a good password manager app for the HTC Desire? I'm looking for an app that will allow entry of custom fields, back-up/synch to somewhere securely, and can export the records to a non-encrypted format (in case i ever change phones).I've had a good look around the Market be can't see anything suitable.

Any suggestions? Would like something that I can use both on my phone and on my computer that will sync together easily. I came across KeePass and SplashId. Anyone have any experience with either of these? Or any other option for that matter?

I have designed an app that logs into a web service by using a WebView instance. Each time the login form is submitted, the WebView asks whether the password should be stored now, later, or never (the typical dialog when logging in with the Android Browser). Is it possible to override this behaviour? I would like to suppress the notice, because the user data is handled by my app.

I know, there are already threads out there but I think my question is different...I am looking for a simple password manager just to show the usernames and passwords for about 30 frigging passwords for work...I downloaded KeePassDroid, but when you enter your stuff, it hides the passwords when you look them up...unless I am doing something wrong? I had a Blackberry before this (I'm never going back) and the password vault they had on theirs work t.It listed the usernames and passwords out in the open so you can get at them quickly. It was protected by a password to get into it, but then everything was open to plain view. Any suggestions?

I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

I have searched on AppBrain for an app that can add a password to a folder when opened (but found nothing more than screen_locks and apps that store passwords you use).

I've tried googling and searching for applications, but ironically, all I've found is people with the opposite problem - who are lucky enough to be asked for a password, but don't want it? Just got my HTC Desire, it is really amazing, but I HATE the stupid lock screen 'pattern' - I am amazed there doesn't seem to be any actually secure option considering the amount of important data the phone may hold (access to email in 2 clicks from home screen + no password = epic fail), especially as when I had a quick go to see what would happen, the pattern seems to allow unlimited attempts - just have to wait 30 seconds between every 5 .Turning my phone off whenever it has to be unattended is just ridiculous, even though I doubt I'll ever let there be a need to, I still want to make sure things are secure. Is there any way to replace the pattern with a PIN or password? Preferably free but I won't mind paying for an application if it's the only way.

I don't like the way my phone is automatically connected to my google account. It means anyone getting hold of my phone could access my email and my checkout. Is there a way to have it not remember the password so that every time it wants to connect for any reason it prompts first?

Right I just had my account hacked, so had to change my password asap. Now I cannot login on my desire and have no idea how to log out and log back in with the new password. Anyway of improving the security? I've had my hotmail account for ages and am slightly worried it was hacked due to it being always logged in on my phone?

I recieved my HTC Desire 3 days ago, and I really like it, but I have 1 problem. Where I work we got a open wireless network with password protection when you open your web browser. I got no problems connecting to the network, but I dont get the pop-up box where I have to write in the password. Tried with the built in browser and opera mini, but neither of em work. Anyone else got a problem like that, or any idea how I can get this working?

I love being able to check e-mails from different accounts on my phone (never had one that did that before!) but, one of them is a work account that I would really like to protect. Is there a way I can force the phone to ask for my account password every time I access this particular account - or is there something I can set internally on the phone to protect the e-mail app?

I have tried manual settings as well with no success. never had this problem with HTC Touch HD which was runnig on Windows mobile unlike Desire which has an Androd platform. Can anyone tell me how to set up yahoo mail on HTC Desire.

Since rooting my Desire using Unrevoked 3.21 yesterday I've downloaded the rom manager from the market.
Having successfully flashed the leedroid 2.1a rom to my phone I then found I needed to partition the sd card for A2SD+
When trying to use rom manager to partition my sd card in preperation for A2SD+, I get a white triangle with an explanation mark in it and the android icon beneath.
With the text,
E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
Then when trying to reboot, the phone was stuck in a boot loop and with a wiped sd card
Managed to get my nandroid backup back on the sdcard and reflash to stock, then when trying to partition again get the same error....thankfully reboot on stock rom works
Any ideas on why my rom manger isn't working?
(I also had a similar error when trying to use the "backup current rom" option)

I have just swapped from an iPhone 3G to the Desire and am getting stuck whilst familiarising myself with the phone (and making it similar to my iPhone). I have put an unlock password on the phone but it is a pain as it requires alpha and numeric so I want to go back to using the visual password. Problem is I cannot find how to get the phone to swap back to using a visual p/w. Anyone able to help Whilst here is there an app out there to wake up the phone when you press any key and/or have the iPhone keypad pop up to unblock the phone? Other than that it is an impressive bit of kit and better than the iPhone in many ways but flawed in some basic areas such as the pathetic speaker. It nearly went back when I first heard it and seems a surprising oversight given it is obviously aimed at the social end of the market.

Can anyone recommend a good task manager to get from the market.
Been using the super security app which has slowed my phone down and the task manager on it isnt the best
Few people saying a 'task killer' is bad for androids. Again anyone got an opinion on this?

Do you know if ATK uses much cpu/memory and battery when running in background, when using the autokill-feature when going to standby because it than needs to refresh the running app-list always.

I hope that this is an easy one for the root masters on here.Firstly i have successfully rooted my Desire by using the unrevoked3 app so now went though without a hitch and root was successful as i have installed ROM Manger from the Market.ive clicked on the ClockworkMod Recover and that has installed fine.Ive done the Backup Current Rom and its created a folder on my SD card with the back up.Now i want to simply add A2SD or even A2SD+ as they both appear to do the same to me?Ive manually backed up my SD card as i know it needs to partition it but is it simply a case of going through that option or do i need to flash a custom ROM to it?LeeDROID looks like a good option as i like the standard set up pretty much just with launcher pro rather than Sense which i could add after?Lastly, if it all goes wrong how do i restore the backup ive created?

I was on the modaco rom but decided to try a different rom from xda. I used ROM manager but the screen was stuck on the HTC screen so i decided to cancel it. I did the follwing but its still stuck on the HTC screen. Turn off, hold vol down and press power. Boot into HBOOT. Use vol up and down to move through the menu and power to select. From here, Select recovery. At the screen with the desire and red triangle, press vol up and power. Select Wipe data/factory reset.

Which will allow me to revert to an 'as is' state if I decide to try a custom rom (both...if so - which is better?)
My only gripe now is battery life on the Desire....I'm thinking of trying one of the roms that extend battery life....

I'm new to android but just used the guides at this forum to root my LG Optimus V. I was wondering if now that I have root there is a way to install a boot password similar to the one I have on my computer. Before it loads the operating system, the BIOS asks for a password. Is there any similar functionality for android?
Also, is this possible on other devices even if it is not on mine? It's one of my favorite laymen security measures.

Just plucked up the courage to root my Desire. And now want to have a go at installing Froyo and looking for the easiest way. I've looked at ROM Manager and was wondering if its worth getting the paid version as it says you can get all the popular ROMs downloaded to your phone. Was wondering how good this app is and if anyone has had problems with getting the ROMs.
