View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an evo 4G and I did step 1 of the android rooting instructions. I want to install Fresh 0.2 but I am not sure how to do that. all the instructions I can find say "download and install" I tried downloading Rom Manager from the marketplace, after installing that I installed Flash ClockworkMod recovery inside of Rom manager. freom there I tried both installing the Rom from the SD card option and downloading the Rom inside the program. a window opens a windo giving me an option to backup my current rom and wipe data and cache and then tell me to press ok to reboot into clockmod recovery and continue installation. that is as far as I get. after I press ok absolutely nothing happens, no reboot, no progress bar telling me its going to reboot, absolutely nothing. what am I doing wrong?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was trying to root the phone and get a Custom ROM installed. As I was reading through several forums, I found few rooting softwares and steps. I did all those, but seemed like the phone was not getting rooted. Then I read that I need to have an Unlocked Bootloader. I went to the Sony Site and got the Unlocking code. But what I did was I unlocked it after I had tried the other steps of rooting. It doesn't seem to have any recovery stuff installed as I am not able to boot in recovery. When it starts, the SONY display will come and a blank screen then again the same stuff repeats as if it is trying to start but cannot find an OS to boot into.
I know that I should have done the Unlocking first and then the root installation and stuff, but now I want to know if I can get an OS installed in this. Now I am not able to install the stock ROM using Sony Update Service as it shows the message: "The Phone contains modified software that cannot be updated".
installing a custom ROM.
I have read and searched everywhere on how to install custom kernels.I follow each step: download the file, change the name of the file to update.zip, copy file onto root of SD card, boot into recovery, go to install, select "Allow update.zip Installation", install. When it starts to install it pops up "no such file or directory" installation aborted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a new member here, just joined a few days ago. I've had my HTC Incredible (Verizon) for about 2-3 weeks and so far I love it. I've been reading these forums every day, multiple times a day ever since I joined here a few days ago, but haven't posted anything yet. I remember the first day I joined here I saw a thread that was discussing a custom Froyo ROM that you could install on your phone that would NOT root your phone. However, I also saw one that allowed free hotspot tethering, that didn't accrue any charges from Verizon Wireless, unless I am mistaken, but I beleive I did read that someone where on here. I'm not looking for someone to walk me through how to install, or root the phone or anything like that, I understand all the inns and outs of doing that.....I provide PC technical support for a living, working on my B.S. degree in Computer Science, so I'm pretty fluent in the technical aspects of working the phone and rooting and all of that, I was just trying to have someone point me in the right direction to the Foryo update.zip/rom that you could install on your phone that would do the following two options:1. I would prefer the version that doesn't root the phone, but instead just installs, if I have to end up rooting the phone that's fine, I would just prefer not to only because of possibly voiding the warranty, not because I'm afraid of screwing it up haha, I feel perfectly comfortable doing it if I must.2. I read one of these allowed free hotspot tethering and also got rid of Verizon's bloatware as well, I don't know if all of these are found all in one custom rom, but if they are that would be great if you could point me in the direction where I can download it at.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have seen many threads & posts from confused Hero owners. The forum is cluttered full of them. So I thought it would be good for all the information to reside in one thread and if people are still having problems then they should make a new thread. I understand that it is sometimes difficult to find the right instructions as there are conflicting posts / thread everywhere.
There are so many guides out there. Each more confusing than the last. So many unnecessary steps. This way is quick and easy.
Note: I have to the best of my knowledge checked and performed the following guides myself and confirm that they work. If my spelling or grammar is wrong, my methods are wrong, you'd like to add something or whatever please Private Message me with the URL of the post and please specify what is wrong. I will try and change / update it ASAP.

Is there any word when a method to root and install custom firmwares on the Arc (such like Cyagonmod or something)?
I've tried just about most of the common methods I've found so far, and I've gotten nothing.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that the Arc is suspiciously similar to the Nexus 7, so can look into root and see if a port can be made for the Arc.
I've been using a galaxy Y S5360 for almost 18 months and I have been using custom ROMs for around 15 months. First I tried Creed 3.5 and loved it. A few months moved to Jellyblast 3 which was again fine. Two days ago I tried installing Hyperion and my phone got bricked I managed to flash stock ROM using odin . But now my phone gets bricked everytime I try installing a custom ROM ( tried Creed 3.5, Jellyblast 3 and Hyperion 8) and Im stuck with the stock ROM .
