HTC Desire :: Flashing Rom And A2sd
Nov 4, 2010I am roooted and currently running CM6.1, loving the speed and the extra battery life. I now however want to get my apps to run on my SD card, I am think of using darktremor to do the job but wonder if someone could help with some questions.
Will the partitioning of the card and formatting it wipe the Goldcard section of the SD card?
Do I need to put all the stuff I take off the SD card back onto it, I want the music and photos back on but there is a lot of stuff hung over from when I installed every app on the market?
Reading through everything I can find it seems like a 512mb partition seems about right, I believe there is a swap and cache part involved, any ideas on what to make these?
HTC Desire :: A2sd - Or Ability To Send MMS
Nov 2, 2010Currently on my Desire I'm using LeeDroid 2.2d, which is very nice. Partitioned my SD card for a2sd+ so I've got over 100mb free of internal memory, and can install as many apps as I want, which is great. The caveat - I can't send people pictures, and their pictures won't come through either, though I don't have this issue with people who have iPhones. Other people with Desires cannot MMS me and I cannot MMS them back, nor can my wife with her Samsung Slyde (we're with Telus in Canada). Basically on either end we get a message that says "Generic network failure" whenever an MMS attempts to download. It repeats this message over and over for a few hours, which is extremely annoying, especially when I'm the recipient.
I assume, as it did with my stock Telus 2.1 before I rooted, that MMS will work fine if I use the very-recently-released Froyo from Telus. I know that to some degree I will be able to move apps to SD with this, but not to the extent that a2sd+ does, where using a 512mb partition on your SD card to imitate phone memory, it saves an enormous amount of precious internal space.
What would you do? Is there a way to get a2sd+ for this new Telus? Or even better, is there a way to make MMS work properly under LeeDroid?

Oct 18, 2010I've setup the ext3 partition and it does show the symbolic link to the sd card. Also using quickinfo to check the space of the partitions and internal memory. I tested by installing google earth (20meg) and it seems like it does take space from the a2sd partition but also reduces my internal memory space as well. What or why does it do this? I only have about 110 megabytes left.

May 11, 2010Just a little heads up out there for people like me who flash roms ten times a day. If you haven't already experienced this issue, you are likely to come across it in the future.
It is probably a good idea to make a backup of the contents of your sd card to keep when flashing from an a2sd enable rom to a non a2sd enabled rom. If your partitioned for a2sd and flash a non a2sd rom it will hold you phone at the boot screen or send you into an endless boot cycle.
I had to take everything off my sd card, re format the card, then flash the rom before I could load everthing back onto the card.
I may be a total noob, and for all you smart people this is probably a no brainer. But if I can keep anyone else from having this headache I thought it best to post it.
HTC EVO 4G :: Current System Back Up And Installing Custom ROM
Jul 25, 2010I've read through the step-by-step here, and while I've found it to be the clearest set of instructions I've encountered, I still have a couple points of confusion. It sounds like by the time I get to the end of Section 2 (version 1) I will have a custom ROM installed (2Q). Now I've used Titanium Backup (I used the pre-OTA Unrevoked for su) to back up apps/data/settings. But I'm not sure what that gets me. What if I want to revert the phone to exactly how it is now? A Titanium Restore would restore apps/data/settings into the custom ROM loaded in 2Q correct?
It appears my answer is in Section 3, item 3D (NAND backup). But at what point do I do Section 3? If I've already gone through Section 2, my current ROM is overwritten by the custom ROM loaded in 2Q, so it's too late to back it up, right? Perhaps I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be, and I'm usually not a complete idiot about technology! But I'm having trouble getting my arms around some of these concepts. I see a lot of instructions saying "do this, do this, do this", but very little explanation what's actually happening when I do these things, and why I'm doing them, so I'm failing to grasp how the various pieces and actions are fitting together.

Oct 13, 2010I have a toolbar view set for most of my activities.
The toolbar has several buttons which all trigger certain intents. Now, the problem is: how can I close current activity before starting another one ?
Problem 1) Activity cones For instance one of the buttons ('A') starts activity A. Activity A also has toolbar. If you press on the 'A' button, a new A activity will be started. I suppose I can look at Activity.getInstanceCount(), right ?
Problem 2) Unnecessary activities The activity X is not needed any more if the opts for A. I just want A then. How can I remove X from toolbar which only has access to context ?
I, of course could find toolbar view inside activity X and override the onClicks, but in general this would mean doing so for all my activities !? Am I on the right track ?
HTC Eris :: Reverse A2sd
Jul 17, 2010I had my sd card partitioned for a2sd and just installed the new froyo v23. I've read that froyo doesn't work with an a2sd partitioned card. So i'm wondering how i reverse my a2sd card and get it back to normal. I have my card backed up on my computer and ready to go back to it.

Jun 21, 2010I have an evo 4G and I did step 1 of the android rooting instructions. I want to install Fresh 0.2 but I am not sure how to do that. all the instructions I can find say "download and install" I tried downloading Rom Manager from the marketplace, after installing that I installed Flash ClockworkMod recovery inside of Rom manager. freom there I tried both installing the Rom from the SD card option and downloading the Rom inside the program. a window opens a windo giving me an option to backup my current rom and wipe data and cache and then tell me to press ok to reboot into clockmod recovery and continue installation. that is as far as I get. after I press ok absolutely nothing happens, no reboot, no progress bar telling me its going to reboot, absolutely nothing. what am I doing wrong?

Jul 27, 2010Trying to get a2sd working and tried multiple times and can't seem to get it to work. Here are the steps I took. If anyone has the correct way or steps to get this working i'd love to get a2sd working on evil eris 3.0.
1. flash evil eris 3.0 to my phone (EvilEris3.0 zip)
2. flash kernel update (ee3kernel-signed zip)
3. after doing kernel update w/o rebooting; partitioned the sd card; then clicked select sd:ext2 to ext3
3. downloaded a2sd and placed it onto the sd card (dtapps2sd-2.7.5-pf4a signed zip folder)
4. flashed a2sd (dtapps2sd-2.7.5-pf4a-signed zip folder)
5. rebooted
6. waited for the phone to turn on but it just stays black. for 20+ minutes and nothing happens. Today, I recently flashed evil eris 3.0 rom back onto the phone and would like to start out from scratch and have someone post up a guide that works since the one on xda doesn't work and every other page i've found in google can not get a2sd working on my evil eris 3.0. Please help me find a solution to get a2sd working on evil eris 3.0.

Nov 3, 2010So I can't install custom rom. I have rooted phone. Every time when i try to enter Hboot I get this error : Searching HEROIMG.zip ,HEROIMG1.zip and it doesn't finds it and returns back.
