Jul 1, 2010I'm having severe problems with the Orange ROM on my phone, not to mention I hate how they have messed around with 2.1.
I have 1.15.61.10 BB 32.30.00.28u_4.05.00.11.
I'd like to know if anyone can tell me which is the best/most stable ROM to change to, and also and most importantly, if I change to another version, preferably unbranded HTC 2.1, what happens when Orange push OTA updates out?
Will my phone try and download the Orange updates? Or will it attach to some HTC server somewhere and download the generic version?
Id rather not have to manually update everytime a new ROM comes out, so it would be good if I didn't have to, but I would think each network would only provide their own version OTA. Is this right?

Oct 22, 2010The strange thing is, the only way for me to get this update is to re-flash the phone with the RUU WWE 2.10.405.2 file, but as soon as i do a factory reset the market will no longer update to the new version, strange to say the least.Could everyone please list the country, firmware and market version, this may help to find a reason for this strangeness.

Since I've already rooted, and can use Hboot, can I simply copy the new zipped ROM to my SD Card, and install it through Hboot, or do I have to do through the whole rooting path again?
HTC Desire :: Flashing Radio - Which Version To Use?
Nov 3, 2010I'm constantly flashing new ROM's my end to try and find one that suits. As I'm sure you're all aware, most of them say "Use this Radio for best results". I've stuck with a previously flashed radio for the last few ROM's. I'm about to flash Defrost 6.0. The literature surrounding the ROM says to use a specific Radio to get the camera to work.
My hesitation is this - I've read that trying to flash the same radio version as the one you already have flashed can brick the phone? Is this true? If so, how do I find out which radio version I have?

Jul 9, 2010I am on my second handset and I am having so many problems with the phones I'm thinking of just giving up and trying to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S. I'm on the wretched Orange network and my phone has these problems:
- Non-working FM radio - it is static on every setting, although sometimes Radio 2 works(!) regardless of what headphones are plugged in.
- Alarm not working - It just doesn't go off if left overnight, even when turned on and with 2 alarms set.
- No internet via 3G - It gives no traffic, completely dead regardless of signal strength. It works via GSM and HSDPA.
- Randomly dropping calls.
- Randomly not able to send texts.
- People ring me and it goes randomly straight to answerphone.
- Erratic bluetooth, sometimes it works ok, other times it randomly disconnects from headset or car system.
It seems like almost every problem present on this forum, my phone has at once and it's driving me mad. Are these problems likely to be due to the horrible old ROM version that Orange runs (1.15.61.10)? They won't update it because it is too much work to stuff all of their crapware onto newer versions (solely designed to make you pay for things that are already available free, e.g. maps, ringtones etc). I dread to think how long it will be for Froyo on Orange. I am scared of updating the firmware incase it doesn't fix my problems and then I may not be able to get a replacement. Has anyone else used a replacement firmware to get rid of any of the above problems, or should I bite the bullet and go for a Samsung (I know it is cheaper built and doesn't have sense but at least it works right?). Does anyone know if the new "Black" handset on Orange runs the same firmware or has any updates? Also, that awesome Clock feature on Desire, with Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer, etc. Is that Android or Desire cos I'd hate to lose it by changing from HTC.

Jul 20, 2010There's a new version of Facebook available on the Market, but because the Desire comes with the official Facebook app already installed it doesn't prompt you to update it.When you click to install the version on the Market, the phone is clever enough detect the preinstalled one and applies it as an update, so you don't end up with two Facebook apps in the phone menu or Manage Apps menu. After installing it the Manage Apps option changes from 'Clear data' to 'Uninstall updates' and the version has gone from 114 to 121. You'll also notice that the 'Take photo' tile has now been replaced with 'Inbox'. There's still no option to tag people in images.

I was going to use some sort of film protector, such as Zagg invisible shield and a Flip Case.
