May 5, 2010If you have an original unedited APN for the Incredible, please post it. I believe the app Quick Settings added the [disabled] to the APN file when I attempted to use the Mobile Data Switch. See below. Now Quick Settings Says "No APN Configured". I've emailed the dev. If so, I will remove the [disabled] to restore the file to its original state. Everything seemed to be working fine despite the [disabled] setting though, but I didn't test MMS. Current (modified by Quick Settings?) APN File from my Verizon HTC Droid Incredible:

I used APN Backup & Restore to save the file to the SDCard so I could view and edit the file using a text editor (such as notepad) in windows. You can get APN Backup & Restore on the market for free.
HTC Desire :: Looking For A Quick Way To Set Profiles
Apr 20, 2010Im looking for a quick way to set pre-set profiles. When I am working I like to turn of my ring tone (leave on vibrate) but leave my message tone as normal. at the moment the only way I can see to do this is to manually turn the ring volume down.Now thats pretty simple and only takes a second but I was wondering if there is a way to create profiles instead? On my Nokia E71 for example I have a work profile and a normal profile which I just switch between when I need to.

Apr 10, 2010I'm pretty confused about the Network Mode settings in my Tattoo so perhaps one of you fine folks could help me?My phone is currently set for Network mode: GSM / WCDMA auto which seems to be the only options I can find. In the status bar my connection speed switches from G to 3G automatically, which is fine.My question is whether this is still ok for the 3.5G areas. I think it should change from '3G' to 'H' but I've never been in a covered area to see if this happens. I cannot see an HSDPA option which is what I was expecting but I have a feeling that the WCDMA covers this. Is this right?I suppose it basically boils down to why the network mode is "GSM / WCDMA" and not "GSM / WCDMA / HSDPA"?I know the Tattoo supports HSDPA but I cant find it anywhere among the options.I'm probably making this far more confusing than it should be.

Sep 8, 2013I've bought a THL W8S cell phone. The problem is, this cell doesn't support WCDMA 900 band. Only 850 and 2100. The phone operator (Wind) in my zone only support WCDMA900, so if I switch it in 3G the phone lost signal. If I keep it in 2G, it works fine but data navigation is slow.
I need to know if there's any way to force THL W8S to receive WCDMA900, or I will be forced to resend cell to China.

Apr 18, 2010I'm writing an app to monitor detailed radio data coming off the phone that I'm sending back to my own server that is collecting this information from a number of different devices. The purpose is to analyze the data from all devices, and generate a kind of "real-time network coverage" pattern.
The data I'm looking for is "Eb/No". From what I understand this is interchangeable with the term "Ec/Io". My first approach lead me to the new Signal Strength (http://developer.android.com/reference/ android/telephony/SignalStrength.html) support in Android 2.1. This is great, however you can only get Ec/Io values for "CDMA" and "EVDO" networks. My problem is that I'm on ATT, where I'm "WCDMA".
I was hoping Android would give me the "CDMA" values from Signal Strength changes (since "WCDMA" is somewhat similiar to "CDMA"), however the update has the gsm flag set to true, and it's giving me values for the gsm signal strength and gsm bit error rate instead.

May 29, 2010I just got my Milestone from Vivo (Brazil), but since Vivo is legally bound to unlock it upon request, I use it on TIM. It already came with android 2.1.I am used to TIM's coverage in my region and I am noticing that Milestone hardly ever gets 3G signal on areas with good coverage on my old N95, except when I set it to WCDMA only, when it works great with 3g.However, since there are areas where 3g coverage is not available, I try to set it to WCDMA Preferred option with no success.As soon as I leave the screen settings go back to default (GSM Auto PRL) and 3G picks up for like 5 minutes in a whole day.Anyone's got the same issue? Know how to make the option stick? Is this a network restriction?

Jul 20, 2010Tried a bit of a buggy ROM and not happy with the outcome.Now, I followed the very helpful guide for one-click rooting to add the new ROM but I wanna switch to the LeeDroid 1.4 release now so what do I need to do? Does anyone know how to go about doing that?One way i think it would work is to unroot my phone and then re-root it with the new sd card, but i just don't know what version of rom to download in order to unroot the phone.I'd rather do it without going through unrooting process, but if that's then only way i could get my new sd card to work, it's ok.

I want to use the 16gb sd card from my E71 in my Desire but what do I have to do to keep from losing info, and app info that's already on my Desire sd card? Is there a program that backs it up completely? I've heard that some people have switched just by copying onto PC and then back onto the new card, but have had problems with application data etc. Also, is the 16gb card going to run really slowly? Slowed down my E71 a bit but I'm assuming the Desire could cope much better?

I have a friend who has an older android phone, I think it is a vodaphone branded phone, he has the ability to turn on bluetooth and if a connection is not made within a short time bluetooth automatically turns off and it also turns off if it is not connected for a short period. Sounds ideal if you want to connect to a head unit (bluetooth enabled car radio).I have seen such an app for android but it was only for Andriod 1.5 (or 1.6) and not any version newer than that - is there such a thing for 2.1 and 2.2 in the future?

May 10, 2010I really like the default browser with the HTC desire. It seems fast and intuitive, and above all I love the way it zooms - formatting text to fit the window, and especially the way it seems to 'snap' to the edges of tables - great for reading news sites where the content is sandwiched in between loads of junk.
But I've never used a different browser on a smartphone, and I wondered how others compared. It's not perfect - swtiching between windows is cumbersome and there doesn't seem to be tabs - which means that sometimes pages can be doing stuff in the background and you'll never even know. And the menus and controls aren't ideal - it's all there but it's annoying having to hit menu then more before you can hit the 'home' key.
So are there any other browsers that have the speed, perfect layout, and intuitive feel of the default browser but better controls and other features? Would appreciate some recommendations of others to try
