View 4 RepliesI have google voice and use it for every phone call I make. I heard that there were issues with several gvoice updates, so I haven't updated google voice since 0.2.8 and it is working just fine- every call connects, no problems. Is it worth updating to the newest version of google voice with push? For those of you with 2.1 on your Eris- does google voice work for you?
View 12 Replies View RelatedHow does the voicemail work the phone? It says i have to call this number to configure my phone but everytime i call it, the number never works. Also, why do i get a text back in my regular inbox when a person responds to my google voice text?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to set my voicemail to Google Voice, it says that "Call Setting Error" and wont switch. Whenever someone calls my phone and it goes to voicemail, it goes to the google voice inbox, but wont send me a notification and wont let me check it on my phone.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIt doesnt work every time i try to change the voicemail service it fails to forward my number....so what do i do?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've tried using it to send a text, but all that happens is it does a Google web search for whatever I said. I have my language set for US English, not sure what else to do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had the Nexus One on T-Mobile and used Google Voice as my primary voicemail service.
But now it won't work. The native "visual voicemail" app keeps recieving my voicemails. I have Google voice set as my primary but still won't work.
For my work voicemail, I have to call in.
I have it programmed in my contacts (or I did on my old BB) with the pauses and password pre-entered
However, with Google Voice, this doesn't work; when I have it programmed in, GV just calls my GV voicemail...
I can turn google voice off, or change it to 'ask every time', but really don't want to.....
So I noticed Vlingo is in the market now. It looks like they added a lot of features from the beta. Have anyone tested it out? Also, does it work with google voice for sms? On a side note, does any one have a list of all commands as well as examples for the built it Voice to Text feature?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI can not seem to get Google Voice and Dialer One to work together. I currently have my Google Voice settings to *always* use Google Voice, however when I call someone my actual number shows up. If you are unfamiliar with Google Voice, the Google Voice number should show up. This problems seems to be limited to my ROM which has the HTC dialer replaced by Dialer One.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI haven't tried yet but I'm just curious if Handcent SMS works with Google Voice? Are there any issues with using these programs together? ChompSMS?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am planning an app using the android speech input api (Speech Input | Android Developers). How the learning occurs? So for example initially my phone could not recognize proper nouns, local locations, uncommon names of my friends, etc, but now it recognizes all of these things so clearly it has learned. But are all of these words now available to other users?
I am envisioning an app when each of my users would be contributing to a database constructed by other users, so that a proper noun that someone else entered is now available to be recognized by someone who has never used my app, is this something I can count on happening automatically?
I have set up the Google Voice App to link to my Google voice account and I select the "ask to use google voice for each call" and the "always use google voice" options and neither work. There is no way to place calls within the app, and when I use the phone app nothing happens. I have no idea what to do. Figured out you can only do that using your contacts. Seems pretty limited, even the generic iphone app could dial direct. Oh well, maybe they will update in the future.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm looking to get a Droid X or 2 but I have recently been hitting over 500 texts per month.
I just read about the new Google Voice and how it is able to send and receive text messages. I dont seem to understand how it works can someone explain this to me?
As far as I know, when you install GV you signup and then get a #, from there I give that # to everyone to text me (not my cell phone #) and GV just stays on in the back ground all the time waiting for texts?
And, does this use the data connection to do all of this or use the phone miniutes?
I've never quite understood the connection. If you have a Google Voice phone number set to forward those calls to your cell phone, do you need to have the app running on your cell phone for this to work or can it be manually turned off?
I would imagine that the call forwarding would work regardless, but what about the app keeping track of those calls in a call list, or keeping track of the voicemails, etc.? Can you just open the app manually and all of this information will be there, or does it need to be running at all times in order to record the phone calls/voicemail as they come in?
With the google voice android app (i'm hoping someone here uses it and knows about it)
How does it work with SMS/texts?
Will i have to go INSIDE the app in order to send and receive texts? or will it literally replace the built in text functionality on the android phone itself?
If i have to go inside of an app, then this is not for me, i mainly am a huge texter.. and i would like to resume using normal texting procedures not have to go inside of an app.
Since I don't have google contacts I can't get voice dialing to work.. Does anyone know if Voice Dialing works with Froyo? I think its kind of crazy that my Motorola Razor had voice dialing stock and this does not.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.3, rooted. I like to use Google Now voice control in the car, but I can never get the command "navigate to work" to work.
I have my work address saved in Google Maps as "work," just like I have my home address saved under "home." The "navigate to home" voice action works perfectly: it always pulls up directions to my home. The "navigate to work" voice action NEVER works, it always pulls up Google search for the phrase "navigate to work."
I need the functionality because I require directions to work often.
PS I can search "work" in Google Maps and it does pull up my work address.
I'm thinking of getting the aria as a "weekend" phone in addition to my blackberry that I use mainly for work. Would everything work fine if I just take the sim out of my BB and put into the aria?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI fully charged the phone over night and unplugged it at 10 am. 4hrs of pandora streaming (3hrs on 3G and 1hr on WiFi). 30 mins of web surfing, 30 mins playing with maps and checking traffic.
Downloaded 2 dozen games and apps. Finally got low battery warning around 9:30 pm. so 11.5 hrs of use. but i was sweating the last hour while coming back from work. It'd be nice if seido sells some extended 1750 MaH battery.
Well I got my Aria yesterday and I have a question. I've tried loading Google Earth onto my phone, but it says its not compatible with my phone. I thought Google Earth worked on any Android phone with 2.1? Am I mistaken? Also, I can't for the life of me figure out how to manually update the Firmware, PRL, etc... like you can on the other Android phones.
View 23 Replies View RelatedWhen i use the phone function, I see duplicates of many names because it displays both my SIM contacts and Google contacts (my phone contacts are zero). How can i just set it to google contacts when using "Phone"? BTW - this whole multiple contact lists thing does not seem to be the best sorted out arrangement (Phone, SIM, Google). Can anyone confirm the the SIM list can't handle email addresses?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how much data Google Maps & Navigation uses? Obviously this can change depending on how far you are going and what type of map detail you are using, but I was just wondering. Is it hundreds of MBs for each trip around the block, or something much smaller? With AT&T's tiered data plans, this is important to know.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there an alternative app for the stock home screen clock+weather widget? I just dont like the stock one and has not been able to find one which will give both time and weather..
Thanks...
I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for the question I'm about to ask and didn't find any threads so here it goes. Can someone post the steps to setting up Google Voice as visual voice mail for the Captivate? I know it's probably something very simple but I just can't figure it out ( yes, I'm a bit slow ).
