I upgraded to 4.4 last night. Overall, it seems fine to me but one thing that annoys me is that the menus have slowed down. I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm referring to the menu that you can drag from the top of the screen (I'm using a Galaxy S3) by swiping your finger from the very top of the screen downwards. Has notifications and all the enable/disable icons for the various services. Used to be fast when I would swipe my finger down rapidly, now it lags. Wonder if there is any way to fix that, or if it's just part of 4.4?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S4 to 4.4.2 I haven't been able to connect to any WiFi networks. When I pull down the notification bar and tap the WiFi icon to turn the WiFi on it turns a dull green and stays like that for a few seconds, then goes back to being the colour before I tapped it. Other times, it turns the usual green but it doesn't connect to any WiFi networks and says "not in range" to those WiFi networks that I connected to before the update. It shows it scanning but nothing comes up. Another member of my family has the Samsung Galaxy S4 and they haven't updated there phone to 4.4.2 yet and they haven't got this problem.
I have no clue how to sort this out. I've turned my phone off and waited a bit then turned it back on many times, to no avail.
My brother in law has an original Nexus 7. He got the OTA today and after alowing it to install his Yahoo mail stopped working. They tried to clear cache, ppower on and off... I told them to uninstall from the Apps in settings, but the uninstall button and the force stop button aren't highlighted.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friend is after a new mobile and I pointed him towards the Desire HD & Desire (there's the only relevance). He is quite adamant about having a Dual Sim mobile. Anybody know anything about them? Benefits? Ones to look out for? I don't know anything about them, but he's come to me for geeky knowledge. He's having a look at these android ones:
Reach Tech (Xiamen) Co., LTD amongst a few others.
Can anyone recommend a dual SIM adapter for the desire? I have took out a new SIM only contract but I also need to use my existing SIM for the next few weeks also.

I downloaded the files needed [from thepiratebay] for HTC HD2 <Magnet Link> and the app RunDroid. I installed RunDroid on internal memory and the android rom on the sd card [sdhc 4gb]. Can you recommand me an Android Rom that would work on my device [specifications] ?

ICS users to have a port of JB 4.2 dual status bar. I mean that one notification status bar and then again sliding quick settings bar thing really looks great.
View 7 Replies View RelatedTwo weeks ago, after upgrading to 2.2 on my HTC Desire I lost the Market app - clicking on the short-cut produced an error and the market app has disappeared from the list of software.
Also, I don't seem to be able to install new programmes via app marketplace websites any more. I guess this is linked to the missing market app. How can I get it back?
has anyone else had trouble geting the update (Version 1.25.841.5)on to their phone!i have downloaded it but it just saves into my downloads not my phone!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just arrived to the Android world as the Desire is my first Android device. I would be grateful if someone could answer my question. I *did* search the forum for the answer before posting, but being completely new to Android, I couldn't find the one that would satisfy me - so if it is out there, please forgive me for asking it here.Anyway, coming from the N900 I was used to OTA OS updates without restrictions. Now, I'm looking forward to the 2.2 version of the Android (mostly for Flash 10.1 and apps installable on the SD card). However, I got the impression (hopefully a wrong one) that in order to install 2.2 on your Desire (unlocked), it must be pushed by your phone service provider/carrier (as opposed to the N900 where you could just download it and flash your device with it or upgrade over-the-air). This is a problem for me, since the carriers in my country don't seem to be interested in sending any OS upgrades (to any device) and the upgrade must be done manually. As I mentioned, the device is not locked to any carrier (if by that it means that you can put any SIM card in it and it works). Now, I know you could root your Desire and do it, but I'm wondering if there will be a way to upgrade to 2.2 (or just replace by flashing) without rooting? Also, if rooting is my only option - how dangerous is it? The N900 came rooted out-of-the-box (you just download the app to gain superuser privileges) so I have no idea what are the possible risks of doing it on your Desire. Can it permanently damage the phone?
