HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen
Oct 29, 2010I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
General :: After Turn On Mobile Data / WiFi Phone Screen Starts To Blink And Turns Off
Jan 10, 2014Mobile phone. I bought it year and a half ago, and have changed operating systems few times (custom roms). Now I have Pristine JB Slim custom ROM, i have installed it 1-2 months ago (cant remember exactly), and everything was okay for first half period, but then it started to crush after mobile data/wifi was turned on.
When I turn on MD/WIFi, its usually okay till 76% of battery, but then screen starts to blink for few seconds and turns off immediately after. When I turn it on again, it turns off again after 1-2 minutes, and sometimes even warns me that i have to charge it cause battery has only few % left (most of time just 1). And I have to charge it again to work normally (well, until it starts to go crazy again )
Before i start to install other roms again. So. Is it faulty battery, bad ROM or something else?

Jul 18, 2010Is there any way to change when these 3 things happen separately? Can I make it so my screen fades earlier but still takes just as long to go completely black? Is there a way to extend the time between total blackout and locking? Is there a way to turn off auto screen lock all together but keep the auto fade out and auto black out? I am always able to remember to manually lock the screen and the auto lock is annoying but I still like the power saving of the screen fade and black out.

May 3, 2010For the past 30 minutes, my Incredible has had zero bars...no 3G and no 1X. I tried to open the web browser and it said no data service could be found and that I needed to enable wifi or the mobile network. I checked the settings for the mobile network and it says "turning on" and it's greyed out. What's going on here? I've already tried turning it off/on again 3 times now.

Dec 31, 2009I don't know if it was a settings app (Quick Settings by Sergey) from the android market that caused it, but after uninstalling that app (the only other one i use right now is the lock screen widget - which i just uninstalled), i can't turn the mobile network on. i've tried the airplane mode trick, gone into settings, soft reset, etc. any ideas in the manage applications? i'd rather not do another hard reset (had to for the google account). i called htc and they were useless - with no trouble shooting, they recommended a hard reset and to not download apps! btw, i'm on a non-rooted phone.

Feb 25, 2012 I've tried so many app's over the last couple of days that claim to stop the screen from locking but they have all just bypassed the lock screen... Well, they've tried to anyway. These kind of work arounds don't actually stop my phone from locking in the first place though.
My phone is a W008+ iPhone clone with Android 2.3.3. When it's charging, the screen will time out and switch off; But it doesn't lock. So I can hit any key to bring the screen back on and as it wasn't locked in the first place, I'm taken straight back to where I was.
When not charging, I get the same behaviour for ~2 or 3 seconds... Any longer and it locks forcing me to use the power key and swipe the lock screen along with any other security measures I may have in place.What I'd like is to be able to set the 'lock' timeout in the way that I can set the 'screen' timeout.How far will I have to go to get this functionality?
Is there a setting I've missed? I'm very new to Android so there's lots I don't know yet.
Are there any app's that can really do this? Maybe this would need a root app?

Mar 30, 2010In order to conserve battery life, I am in the habit of turning off my mobile network whenever I'm not using it. At home, I have mobile network off, and wi-fi enabled. Over the past several days, I notice that when I try to toggle mobile network to on, it doesn't work. After going in to settings, for mobile network, it says Turning on... After restarting my phone, mobile network always turn on successfully.

Aug 30, 2009All I want to do is from time to time check my mails. For this, I want to activate the mobile network connection (3G) manually for a short period of time, and then de-activate it again.
The problem is that enabling the "mobile network" checkbox after my phone has been idle for some time, doesn't actually activate the 3G connection. (no "H" or "G" icon in the notification bar)
So when I open the mail app it complains with a "connection failed" message.
Even better would be if I could find a way to have my mails automatically checked whenever the connection is activated ...
Other than that I'm very happy with the phone.

General :: T-Mobile Galaxy Vibrant - No Network Phone Connection?
May 31, 2013I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Vibrant that was running Android 2.1. I rooted the phone (successfully), and installed Slim Bean 4.2.2 plus Google apps. Everything was going smoothly and I was reinstalling apps and data when I noticed that I had no network phone connection. Slim Beam did not seem to recognize the sim, and I came up empty searching for networks. I removed the sim and put it in another phone, and everything was fine.
I decided to restore the previous android 2.1 (which I had backed up) using ClockWorkMod Recovery. I did restore, then reboot. Now the only thing I get is the initial screen ... Vibrant and Samsung in bold white letters. I have tried repeatedly to launch CWM Recovery, without success.
General :: Use Power Button To Turn Phone Off Without Getting Unlock Pattern Every Time
Feb 22, 2012Got a question regarding the lock screen. I'm on 2.3.5 on a Skyrocket. If I let the screen timeout and come back to it in a few minutes, when I power on, no screen lock (just a wallpaper to swipe away). If I use the power button to put it to sleep (not physically power down), the next time I use the power button to turn it on, I'm presented with the pattern unlock screen. Is there a way to use the power button to turn the phone off without being presented with the unlock pattern every time (I'd like it to do this after maybe 15-30 minutes, but not immediately as it seems to be doing it now).

One of the "features" of my Curve that I'm having trouble duplicating on the Incredible is this: I was able to set a timeout to lock the phone and a separate timeout to blacken the screen. That is, if the screen went black after 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen wouldn't necessarily lock until 30 minutes of inactivity. I have increased the screen timeout on my Incredible, but the screen doesn't dim at all. I tried installing the No Lock application, but now I can't find a way to manually lock the phone if necessary.

And it is the best OS I've had on a phone to date. (my first CM) it's really nice. but unfortunately I have the problem with (like manny other) "Mobile network not available" so I'm forced to go back to the original ROM.

Aug 27, 2010I ALWAYS have my carrier 3g network and blu-tooth turned off at all times using the power control widget that came with my HTC Desire. but when i turn on my phone, my carrier network and blu-tooth are turnred on, and my mail and some other things get refreshed, using up data.
Is there a good widget or app that permanently stops the network and blu-tooth from turning on unless i do it manually? i cant find one on the market! i only set my refreshes of my mail to just once a day, and is there a way to set these refreshes to none a day, just manually?

Jul 5, 2010I seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?

May 29, 2010My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

I could have sworn there was option either associated with that or somewhere in the settings where it asked you how long it would take for the phone to lock the screen after it went to sleep.

Dec 13, 2013I have been struggling to make phone calls/send texts/go online without turning on WiFi. My phone rarely connects to the 4G network that I know is strong , because my dad's identical Galaxy S3 is quick to connect to it. My phone rarely connects to Edge either now. When I go into the "Search Mobile Networks" tab my phone just keeps searching and searching... and searching. I thought I had the solution a moment ago when I turned on and off Airplane Mode. My phone connected to 4G for a moment and I was able to send one text, but then it dropped back into nothingness. In addition, it takes nearly 30 seconds to switch into airplane mode after I select it.It's not the sim card because I tried it on a different phone and it works fine. My dad's a cynic when it comes to rooting and he's saying it might be because I rooted my phone, but this issue started two to three weeks after I rooted... is rooting a potential cause?
