When that contact makes a call to me or I call them, the contact photo comes up on the phone app and is very low quality and almost pixelated. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I couldn't find a spot to change the resolution or quality.

My live wallpaper turns darker and darker from the top every 2 hours Its became normally when I reboot it But it will come again in next 2 hours.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've attached camera pics, downloads and upload to the SD card. The problem is that when these contacts call/I call them the quality is sometimes awful. Others look perfect. Any idea why?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was setting up some photos for the Photo Caller ID function for incoming calls and was rather disappointed at the quality of the image that comes up. I either add an image to the contact in the People app or I go to the gallery and chose to "Set as" a contact icon. The picture pops up and you are given a little square crop/zoom tool to chose the portion of the picture that you want as you icon/photo caller ID. When I stretch the square OUT as big as possible to crop and then set the image with the contact, the caller ID image that comes up is good. However, any cropping/zooming is significantly Degrades/Pixelates the image that is chosen.
I'm not using the FULL 8MB resolution (set to 5MP) for the camera and I know if you crop and zoom any image, the more you zoom the worse the quality of the picture, But the 5MP shots I have should be MORE THAN sufficient to produce a little square of a photo caller ID. I had photo caller ID that popped up on my Palm Centro with photos was cropped to 320 x 320 and saved with LOW resolution and those photos were very clear. Even with the crop and zoom that is required to produce the contact/photo caller ID image, the 5MP photos I am using should be more than sufficient to produce a clear image. Is there a fix/trick for the quality to improve? Here we have this big beautiful screen and you crop a nice-sized 5MP picture for a tiny square caller ID photo and the quality is horrible.
I now understand that the strange red-eye housing over my camera lens, which looks so much like an android (or maybe an HTC engineer) after a long night of drinking, is purported as protection for the actual lens. Why HTC didn't just settle for a sliding blackout cover instead of this bulky lesion is anybody's guess. I know that it's relative permanence over my lense will certainly not protect my photos from any dirt and scratches which this protector picks up, so I have been extremely careful to keep it clean and un-scratched. What I suspect is that this lens cover may be responsible for some of my camera quality issues, such as high noise, a reddish tint which tends to flicker on and off, some periodic jerking of the autofocus (flashing out of focus) when you are hardly moving, and indoor shots which are much, much darker than life without the flash. Hey, I get that this camera, no matter how many megapixels they can list, doesn't come with a world-class sensor, but I would like to know from anyone with a background in photography what they think of my concern that even a clean, transparent cap can reduce the amount of light entering the actual lens, while adding its own reflective noise. The same with the opaque cylinder which surrounds the lens (the red eye housing), from a photo-quality standpoint is looks to me like it's only good for cutting the light. If removing this cover would make a significant difference, then it may still not be the best solution as it leaves the lens at risk, but I am still interested in any qualified opinions on how much this red-eye housing causes, if any. It may be good for the future of smart phone design if they see that they have educated consumers, who are paying attention to such possible problems.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'll keep this one short - I just want to know if anyone has tried some of the available camera apps, and actually noticed better Incredible photos with less noise, brighter indoor photos without flash, color rendering, or better focus. If you could explain any theoreticals on how software interacts with the hardware to produce such improvements, that would be appreciated too.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHave had my EVO for a month now and started taking photos with it and emailing them. Photo resolution (Camera/Settings/Resolution) is set set at 1280x768 and Quality (Camera/Settings/Quality) is set to High. All other camera settings are at default values.
The photos I have taken in daylight without flash, when viewed on a couple of different PC laptops (one an HP, the other a Dell) show a marked pink tint in the photos, which is especially noticeable in skin tones. This occurs throughout the photo and not at the fringes. Similar photos taken concurrently by a companion on her iPhone3 show natural colors and skin tones when viewed on the same PC laptops.
Anyone else notice the same? Is this a hardware/software/firmware defect specific to my unit, a general model-wide defect, or a function of camera settings?
How do I access previously viewed downloads?
I know how to do it initially, but if I want to access that file again where is it?
I need specifics as I am new to the smartphone scene.
When using Google Maps Navigation, how do you get it so as you're following the directions the maps is viewed at and angle so you can see further ahead on the map. Also how do you have the screen/map turn as the car turns?
Right now it's just looking down and with no angle/tilt on the arrow and the orientation stays "north up" all the time. It used to do this.
I don't get it. I actually really like the stock camera app that comes with the phone. But if I take a picture or video, I can't view it. It's like it's instantly corrupted. It sucks cause I had some good pictures and video but now they are basically gone. I have downloaded another camera app and I get reliable pictures that aren't corrupted. But I would prefer to use the stock one cause it just seems to react quicker. What apps do you use for taking pictures?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo last night my wife was looking at a picture off of a website on my phone, and accidentally hit the home button. This normally should not be a problem, but the display started acting up. The display is darker than normal, it flashes, and it has white lines that run the length of the screen. After playing with it a few minutes it goes back to normal. It is acting like it should right now, but it did this last night but started acting up again. I did a hard reset last night and it did not help. If it starts up again it is going back to wally world.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow and why sound can differ so much between different Roms on the same phone. I primarily use my phone to push music through my head unit in my car. I compare the different rom's sound quality by putting my phone on full volume level and controlling music with my car's volume knob.
I'm on an Evo 3D so,
2.17 based roms sound the best for some reason with the ICS leaks coming in at a near 2nd. All AOSP roms sound like trash for some reason. MeanROM and FreEVO roms with Beats Audio enabled sound the best, but I've had a few 2.17 roms that didn't sound too good.
Right now I'm on Newt's One S and I'm really digging the rom except for the sound. An example being... On MeanROM and FreEVO, volume level 35 is a nice listening level, 40 is loud and at 45 my speakers start to distort. Now on Newt's One S (and AOSP roms), 35 is way low, 40 is low, 45 it starts to distort but is still low compared to 35 on MeanROM even though beats audio is supposedly enabled.
I guess I'd like to know where the difference lies whether it be with the rom or kernel and is there anything I can flash or tweak to get the same sound quality from all roms that I put to my phone.
Camera app or organizer app that actually moves pictures instead of just displays them differently via a viewing app?
For example it would be great to have photos automatically go into pre-set albums or quickly and easily reorganize them afterwards etc. I know I can manually move them via file managers but looking for a dedicated app with different options/filters etc.
best way to print nice quality photos from your phone? It could be the best printer, or the best place to take your photos to have them printed, either would be fine. Some of my photos were taken in 4:3 and some in 16:9. When I try to print on a friends printer, it has a lot of trouble with the 16:9 photos.

Yesterday I took a picture and wanted to send it to my brother. I wanted to send him a URL to an uploaded file so I could then share that URL with others in the future. I did not want to email a picture because, frankly, it's not as easy as pasting a URL in a GTalk window.
I spent about 10 minutes thinking of all the ways I could do this using Google services and couldn't find any way to do it on my phone. Here are the options I considered:
Option 1) Upload to Google Plus - but viewing the photo in G+ app doesn't provide a public link. SHaring option only presents your standard email, mms, etc. options. Option 2) Upload to Picasa - but I get the same sharing options as G+ - no option to grab a link. Option 3) Google Drive. This was the last option, but of course it only presents the same options as before. Now, I can create a public link when I'm at a computer, but not on my Android device.
So I ended up having to upload via the imgur app and just sending that link. I'm okay with that for now, but I'm already uploading to G+ automatically; why can't I just get a public url through the app?
That whole process was very disappointing. I wish Google would give us some way, any way, to share a file via URL through a Google App - specifically, Drive.
Trying to figure out what happened today... I was out riding in the car, and ended up looking up the website for Mini Cooper (miniusa.com). Everything worked just fine on the site, though I was a little intrigued by the presence of some loading animations because I haven't (to my knowledge!) done the required degrees of hacking to get Flash working. I thought that was part of Froyo only, and that 2.1 couldn't play Flash.
Imagine my shock when said website was revealed, when I got home, to be flash-based. What the heck happened here?
My phone is rooted and running a Hydra kernel underneath the stock ROM, confirmed by checking my About Phone just now. I definitely haven't installed any app that I'm aware of that would explicitly enable Flash. So how did I do what I did?
why is it that youtube blocks so many videos from being viewed on mobile? does not compute. is this at google's discretion, or carriers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm writing an application consisting of several activities and, on restarts, I'd like the application to initially display the application's activity that was the last to display in the application's previous session.
I save information about the last activity in SharedPreferences and I'm trying to start that last activity with a call to startActivity(intent) from my Application's onCreate handler.
The problem is that if I don't set the intent's FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK, the result is a run-time exception message in logcat suggesting that I should set the flag. And if I set that intent flag, the correct activity gets started but doesn't fully initialize resulting in null pointer exceptions (which don't occur when I don't attempt to start the activity from my Application class).
CODE:...........
Calling startActivity() from outside of an Activity context requires the FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK flag. Is this really what you want?
How to correctly start a particular activity from the Application class's onCreate handler?
