Is there a way to have backups made manually and scheduled backups displayed in separate lists? I would like to have my manual backups in a list(with max history) and backups scheduled weekly and daily in a different list with a different max backup history(3 for daily, 2 for weekly).

View 9 Replies View Related4.2 of Jelly Bean update could be imminent for my Nexus 7, and I'm wondering about what and how to backup before the update. The question I think is a general android one though... which is why I'm posting it here.
This was going to be a question about factory reset... but reading other posts I think I now understand that factory reset just deletes data/cache, so I think any time you do that it's just gonna return the device to a clean ROM state without changing the ROM. (whatever flavour/version ROM is)
When a ROM update is applied (either official or manually flashed), I guess it wipes everything, is it like a disk format or something like that? I have installed CWM recovery and rooted my device, I think the update will unroot it, but will the CWM recovery still be loaded?
And then, what backup should I take before the update... I think a Titanium Backup is a must, I understand how that works. But a Nandroid backup too? Or is that more like taking a disk image, would that be useless to restore after the ROM has been updated? And if so, does that mean any old Nandroid backups should be discarded?
Once the new update to 4.2 is installed, is it advisable to take a Nandroid backup immediately, or better to download the stock 4.2 image and keeping it as a starting point? (does this amount to the same thing?) I guess this is where a factory reset would return it to stock (providing I haven't moved anything to the system apps)?
Or is it possible/better to use a Nandroid backup as a point in time image of everything that's been installed on the device after adding back all the apps etc? I guess that leads me to wonder if the Nandroid backup is needed at all if I'm going with the Titanium Backups...
Is there a way to import contacts from one or more Nandroid Backups without restoring all old roms?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI flashed + rooted (strangely in that order, which means I must have rooted my phone ages ago.. and then locked my bootloader after flashing..?)...
I do have Rom manager installed... but I don't quite recall how I ended up flashing the stock rom onto the phone..
Anyways, as I did seem to reset my phone, I upgraded all the apk packs and I'm pretty happy with the speed upgrade + ext2 internal space expansion.
As I now want to create a nandroid backup, so I can always come back to my current status, when I want a clean reinstall..!
My main question is that as I seem to have skipped creating a CWM recovery... if I do so now, will I loose all my data and go back to the basic stock rom?
The problem I'm facing right now is that I'm unable to boot into the recovery mode using either "adb reboot recovery" or the power on + vol buttons / menu button. (which means that I don't have the recovery mode installed.....)
So.... will I loose my current upgrades + phone settings (reset into factory mode), if I flash the recovery mode?
In preparation for an upcoming firmware update to my Eris, I processed an app backup to my device's sdcard. In doing this, Estrong's File Manager notified me that only 3 of my total applications failed to backup.Can anybody tell me why these apk files failed to backup to my sdcard? Is there anything that can be done about this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a question about restoring nandroid backups. I have quite a few ROMs saved as backups, for switching if I want to try something else. I have White Widow 4.4 installed right now, and am apparently stuck with it since when trying to roll back to Aloysius or anything else. When I go to restore a back up, after wiping dalvik/data, I get this error. Error : run 'nandroid-mobile.shrestore' via adb! What the heck are they talking about? I hope this isn't something simple and stupid, but I am out to sea right now with no access to my computer. Please assist! Thanks guys! Also, WW4.4 rules.

2. Is using the recovery method with AMON the best way to make nandroid backups?
3. is restoring a nandroid backup like going back in time to the exact same state i had my phone prior to making the backup?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Android LG Optimus Q (through Straight Talk). Because I wanted a screenshot app and to be able to have more "internal" memory, I rooted my device today and did a couple of other things.
1) I first rooted my device (and therefore installed SuperUser)
3) I installed Terminal Emulator
2) I downloaded CWM
3) I made a back-up (it said Done...)
4) I installed ROM Manager
5) I created (or at least I think so, since I went through all the steps) a second partition in my SD so I could create more "memory" destined to be used by programs.
6) I downloaded Link2SD and moved a couple of things to (I think...) the second partition in the SD
Everything was going ok, even though I wasn't sure if the partition had been created or not because I couldn't find a way to check it... until I went to check my 800 pictures and... they were all gone!!! I decided not to freak out at first because I remembered that I had made a backup directly through CWM... so I tried retrieving it through there... and nothing - nothing found... WTF?!
So I tried checking for the backup through ROM Manager, and... NOTHING! There must be a way to at least recover the files... You know, like when you accidentally delete stuff in your camera you can still recover it with a program... is there anything like that? or steps I should follow to recover the backup? I had pictures of my kid there and I just REALLY don't want to count them as lost.
I was using WildChild custom rom for my WildfireS and created a SMS backup before flashing and moving to m1ndh4x8 ROM. In this ROM there is no backup/restore function though.
How do I restore my messages? Can I upgrade the stock message app? Or is there any B&R app that can read the backup file? so far I tried many but non of them worked.
Forgive me if this has been answered already, I didn't really know how to search for this... But today I tried to do a Nandroid Backup and when I did it said "error: Run 'nandroid-mobile.sh' via adb!" But I've previously been able to just click Nandroid Backup and it will backup my phone..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.1. A couple of hours ago, I made a NANDroid backup before flashin a new ROM. When I attempted to use NANDroid backup manager to restore my apps and data, the app said I had no apps in the backup. Upon reviewing the files CWM created, I discovered that it created several data.ext4.tar files. Is there a way to combine these so I can use the Nandroid backup manager to restore my apps. I've managed to restore call logs, text messages and wifi data but my apps are important too.
I do realize I could probably use CWM for restoring but I want to restore specific apps and not the data. (I.e the recently updated hotmail app) Plus, restoring with CWM flashes data that is incompatible with the new ROM.
i have an ATT galaxy S3, and I just finished a nandroid backup. However, CWM Recovery is now giving me the option to restore the ROM I just backed up (which is a stock ROM, its my first time) or just reboot. All I want is to return to my Stock Rom and continue using my phone.

Im guessing the reason is that nandroid cant find the dalvik because it is not symbollically linked by S2e since we arent booted into the actaul OS. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've never made a rom now do I know how. I'm just broke and have a horrible computer its so bad I haven't used it since I got my evo 4G. Anyway I'm not new to flashing, modding or anything to do with my evo. What I like to do is flash a rom as a base then find other tweaks and mods and flash them. remove things the developer put in and maybe replace them with other thing I find from other roms. Eventually I have a custom "rom" mostly unrecognizable from my original base. My question is, is it possible to nand my "rom" and turn it into a flashable rom to share with the community?
