where I have got right now on my phone, which is:
1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?
I'm playing with my u8180 stock rom .. I've rooted it and Soo on but only kernel can be over clocked to 600 mHZ and Min 122 .. how can i change it ?! or how can i copy a kernel from other rom to my rom ?! I'm usind Disxda kitchen

I would like to ask how I can install this on my N1, is it just a matter of downloading the right file, renaming it to update.zip and then doing what I've done to update my phone as with official updates?
What do I need to pay attention to and is there a way to revert back to the original rom/Kernel if I'm having issues with this mod or if I want to sell my phone?

i have this HTC V9899 from china, i think this is not real htc, but don't know this is cloning from which model, it looks like rezound but the rear camera is in center.you can search in google "htc v9899 cdma gsm".there is two model of v9899, the cdma-gsm and gsm 4g.the 4g version is clone to rezound, very same.i have the cdma-gsm version.
the phone specification: dual on dual standby cdma evdo rev A and gsm 2g, 1 ghz processor, 512 ram and 512 rom, adreno 200, 4.3" screen, 960x540 resolution, amoled screen, 8mp rear camera with auto focus and flashlight, front camera, ics 4.0.4
i got this phone already root, and i want to learn how to cock rom, so to backup the rom, i learn from threads that i need clockworkmod to backup and install rom, and the easieast way is to install rom manager.
so i install rom manager, and need to install cwmr, some phone list show up, i try to flash it but none work, i try many model and so far the recovery screen just show logo and hanging.
i have novo7 tool that can flash recovery.img from sdcard, i have try many recovery.img and none work too.the bad thing is i didn't backup stock recovery.img cause i don't know how.the stock revocery is e3 system recovery.the phone work fine and rooted.just when i go to recovery by pressing power with vol up button, the phone just show verizon logo and hanging.
i still can access adb with my computer and my phone with power button and vol down.how can i install clockworkmod recovery for this phone? and if can't, how can i restore stock recovery.
There are only multiupload links I can find on the internet but it is a broken link.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a way to restore the Samsung Exhibit II 4G to the stock 2.3.6 ROM. NOT 2.3.5. I have found a way to get 2.3.5 on and I did but did not find a way to upgrade to 2.3.6, as Samsung's Kies software said my phone was not support in Kies 2.0. I flashed Peach Sunrise on it and am using it now but for future reference or errors would like to find a way to go back to stock 2.3.6. Any way or have the stock 2.3.6 rom that I could flash?
I used this thread originally (before I installed Peach Sunrise) to get back to 2.3.5:

How to restore the stock bootloader on a HTC phone?
I explain: after the root process, made with the Revolutionary tool, the bootloader isn't the same as before: now there are some lines i don't like (especially the one that allows to format the phone only by pressing two or three buttons).
Is there a way to change the bootloader, and back it up, or if i lose the phone, the "volume down-power button trick" could make a new phone?
I tried everything, including a method of mine to set the s-on and using the ruu, but nothing changed.
I was erasing some stuff with titanium backup and I delete intentionally the people app, because I didn't want my phone list on the google account; however deleting people app has broken somehow the dialer too and now I can't use it anymore.
I tryed to delete totally the stock dialer and installing a new one downloaded from google play store but it still doesn't work (I couldn't see while calling).
I tryed to download and use the .apk files from kitkat but none of them works.
My phone is a Moto G and it's rooted.

I am trying to make a port of my phone to cm9.
But there's some problems
-I am unable to locate the kernel file in my stock rom
-The phone doesn't start bbot animation -It show the first logo, the second and keep stuck- I can't have a logcat.
Note : I haven't bricked it, i can start cwm.
I'd like to know what are the differencies between kernels for, for example, CM10 and stock manufacturer's JB. Can we use stock kernel to build something different from stock?

How do I restore my messages? Can I upgrade the stock message app? Or is there any B&R app that can read the backup file? so far I tried many but non of them worked.
I have a rooted LG Optimus L1 ii, running the stock 4.1 ROM that came with it, from which I uninstalled the stock messaging app after installing Hangouts. As you might have guessed I was unaware that the stock messaging app contains the basic messaging capabilities and all other apps rely on this, so now I'm trying to somehow regain the ability to send and receive SMS.
I have tried installing Handcent, GoSMS, and an app called "Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS", which claims to be the stock messaging app for JellyBean, all of it to no avail.
Therefore my question is, on a very fundamental level, what are the parts of the Android OS that are required for SMS and that I evidently destroyed? Can I get "generic" stock versions of the necessary apks or do they have to be specific to my phone model?
I have a problem with my camera so I try to install are the 4.2 camera on my haipad I9300 mtk 6577. No success so now I want to go back to the original ics camera and gallery.. Unfortunately I delete the original ones when I install the 4.2 camera. So I download the camera apk and Google gallery. Apk and put in system.app the gallery shows up but not the camera. Unable to find my stock firmware.. every link points to the same file from hotfile.com and my ISP provider sucks causing the download to get stuck in between, tried two times at 100Kbps, failed both the times, once at 62%(552 MB)! its very hard to download it, any non hotfile link or some direct link if possible, can download it and host it as a torrent or something because i have very bad net connection and its slow also.
I am talking about Samsung Galaxy s3 19300 International/India Jelly Bean ROM, or even ICS stock might be ok. _
right now i have the stock ROM and Siyah Kernel and i want to clean instal everything and remove root.
I'm looking for an backup application which will allow me to backup my apps and system data on roms based on stock ICS and restore to JB and vice versa.
Titanium backup does the job but after restoring on a new rom I get a lot of fc's and none of the apps works. I cannot restore call log and text messages, accounts, etc.
There's a lot of backup apps, I know. But I would like to be sure that they work as they should. Any app which will do the job?
