View 1 Replieswhere I have got right now on my phone, which is:
1. I updated to stock 2.1 using the sprint update tool.
2. I followed the video tutorial to root the phone
3. then i used joey's page (http://www.joeyconway.com/sdx/custom/index.php) to install the his kernel (joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.4 (includes root)).
I have done nothing else to the phone but this and removing a couple of bloatware apps (i checked the list of permitted deletions before i removed anything.) I have not installed a new recovery..at least i dont think that I did as part of one of the other operations I performed (as an aside, i am not really sure what the custom recovery is or what it is used for, so i didnt install it...i guess i need to read up more...)
So that is where I am..but i have a couple of questions.
1) i am now having issues with my wifi connection - the signal reception is very spotty in areas where i should have atleast 2 bars of reception, and the wifi often cuts out completely....Is there any know corellation between joey's kernel and this wifi issue? I have searched the forums and have found nothing that answers this.
2) Is there an easy way to get back to the stock kernel? I have read that i can get back to stock everything by using the sprint download center where I did my original 2.1 update. But is there a way to get back to just the stock kernel without wiping the phone?
I have a mtk 6577 based phone which kernel doesnt support swap just wanna now how can i add swap support on my phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a stock N1 with terrible battery life. I have stumbled intersectRaven's mod/Kernel at: [URL] .....
I would like to ask how I can install this on my N1, is it just a matter of downloading the right file, renaming it to update.zip and then doing what I've done to update my phone as with official updates?
What do I need to pay attention to and is there a way to revert back to the original rom/Kernel if I'm having issues with this mod or if I want to sell my phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI already have my mini x10 pro U20i rooted with CWM and Busybox and I have been looking for the latest most stable ROM to run on the stock kernel.
Preferably something that can install the apps onto SDCard And Works well in low signal strength areas I use apps mainly for PC Repair.

I am trying to make a port of my phone to cm9.
But there's some problems
-I am unable to locate the kernel file in my stock rom
-The phone doesn't start bbot animation -It show the first logo, the second and keep stuck- I can't have a logcat.
Note : I haven't bricked it, i can start cwm.
I'd like to know what are the differencies between kernels for, for example, CM10 and stock manufacturer's JB. Can we use stock kernel to build something different from stock?
View 5 Replies View RelatedUnable to find my stock firmware.. every link points to the same file from hotfile.com and my ISP provider sucks causing the download to get stuck in between, tried two times at 100Kbps, failed both the times, once at 62%(552 MB)! its very hard to download it, any non hotfile link or some direct link if possible, can download it and host it as a torrent or something because i have very bad net connection and its slow also.
I am talking about Samsung Galaxy s3 19300 International/India Jelly Bean ROM, or even ICS stock might be ok. _

Does anyone have a copy of the regular stock kernel for the Dinc?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhat kernel are you guys running i have tried kings and netarchy just wondering what else. If your not using it on a stock rooted 2.2 then no need to post in here.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThey tell me this will change again when the Droid X and Samsung Galaxy get 2.2 - I wouldn't know. Until then, here's our moment in the sun. Made this using the Quadrant benchmark, free from the Market, using a the stock rooted 2.2 rom and the netarchy-toastmod 3.7.6c kernel with the 30 fps cap lifted. No over-clocking, no hair-on-fire super tweaks, no killing every process to tweak the benchmark - just downloaded and run, the number on the bar says 1165.

The Nexus One 2.2 at the top uses the exact same processor (aside from the radio-control circuit) as our EVO. I attribute its higher score to the fact that it's sleeker and not running Sense. I happen to like Sense so I don't care.
Last night I rooted 2.2 with UnrEVOked 3.21, and I'm pleased that I have Titanium Backup and Wifi Tether. The only other two things I wanted to have were uncapped FPS, and some better battery life. In another thread, I read that you may use a different kernel without using a different ROM. I downloaded KiNgxKernel's BFS #9 and installed, and while I got the frame rate I was looking for, the operating system went in to super laggy mode. It was unusable, so I booted in to recovery and restored the stock kernel from my nandroid backup.
Does anyone have any recommendation on a kernel I can use with the stock ROM?
Also, one other question, I constantly see people advise that cache clearing is vital when changing kernels. I am only aware of Dalvik cache, and the menu option in recovery to clear that cache. I also read many posts that say clearing it is unreliable and only possible with a full wipe. Can someone clarify please?
Thanks guys!
Right now Im on stock 2.1 rooted. A few little issues I had with other ROMs and overclocking are totally gone which is great. I would like to try some different kernels, however, to see if it was the ROM or just the kernels I was using.
Anyways, how do I get back to the stock kernel if I change to a different one? If I have a recent nandroid, can I just restore one of the partitions? I would like to retain all of my data throughout the process so Id like to avoid doing a full nandroid restore if possible should I have problems and just restore the kernel.
Thanks

View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know where I can find an update.zip to revert back to the stock kernel? I have suddenly found myself in a boot-loop for no apparent reason. I have been running NexBeast 0.9 for a few days without issue and today my phone ran out of battery. When I set it on my home dock it turned on, but it is just in a continuous boot loop right now. Sometimes it gets to the lock screen, other times it doesnt even get that far, before going back to the "Droid" text logo and then then red eye boot animation again.
To top it off, it looks like there is something wrong with the micro-USB port on my droid...it is VERY touchy and I cant even get it to connect to my laptop anymore so that I can get into an ADB shell
I made this video to show the difference between a stock Evo and one that has the FPS uncap via a custom kernel, in this case, netarchy-toastmod 4.1.7. See my sig for the kernel download link. I shot this at 60fps and 1080p in order to try to capture the difference in framerate before and after. 720p max on youtube. I believe it's the sharpest video out there showing off the difference. Look for two things: scrolling smoothness, and finger tracking. Tracking is the ability of the phone to keep the screen "stuck" to the finger. The better it does this, the better the tracking, and it makes the phone feel very responsive to your commands.
To many people, the difference is night and day. To some, they don't see/feel the difference. I find that hard to believe, which is why I made this video. The truth is out there.
TIP: Click on the video below and watch it from youtube. It's larger and sharper there.

Assuming I keep CPU speeds the same as stock, is a low voltage kernel going to save my battery life significantly?

I'm wondering if it's possible use the Galaxo kernel (with it's swap support and stuff) with the stock II5 firmware?
How would I go about doing it? Replacing /boot and copying the kernel modules? Is is incredibly complicated our is it doable?
Just wondering which kernel - in terms of performance and battery life would be the best to use with teppics rooted stock froyo rom.
I'm currently using this kernel with the sd card read fix and gpu+ fix but I'm wondering if theres something thats better in terms of performance and battery life.

I've heard many good things about richards v5 kernel but I don't want to OC or do anything crazy. I just need the sd card read fix... maybe the gpu+ fix and no OCing as I do want to keep my battery life as is.
