General :: Can't Record Full Screen Videos
Dec 4, 2012I just noticed that all the videos i recorded on my phone are centered instead of being full screen.
My first video was full screen on the internal memory and then i somehow changed it to save to external SD card the recording problem started (i don't know how to change the save settings).

Apr 4, 2011I was told that i should be using services in a new .java file in order to invoke and extend to do background video recording, but i don't seems to know how to do it despite reading tons of sites related to services, , i have read tons of it.. I tried using AsyncTask but my lecturer told me cannot. whether is it using AsyncTask or services to perform background recording?
This is what tried for my mainactivity where it performs previewing of the captured image, but how should i convert the startRecording() method to service method in my new startRecording.java file?

May 30, 2012I just got my new galaxy note (i717) on friday (immediately flashing it with OnlyOne beta 2 (ics)) and I would like to use it for a bit of podcasting using the front camera to record myself while I read text from some teleprompter software.
I can record video from the front camera just fine, and it actually comes out a bit higher quality than I expected even, but for the life of me, when i hit the record button and then switch away from the camera app to the prompter app, it gives me an audio notification that the camera has stopped recording.
is there prompter software that has an integrated video recorder? (that'd be pretty sweet imho) or better, some way to record video while another app (that's not particularly resource intensive) is in use? - I don't mind trimming and cutting the video together (there are actually some pretty decent editing tools for android i've found) but I can't figure out a way to record and prompt at the same time...

I want to write an app, which records a video. This should be implementet via the MediaRecorder (not via Intents). On the Google-Developers site I found a "tutorial" [URL]
My problem:
I followed the whole tutorial. When I'm starting my application on my test device it throws an exception ("start failed") at recorder.start() if I set the quality to high (CamcorderProfile.QUALITY_HIGH). If I change the setting to QUALITY_LOW the app starts recording for 1-2 seconds. After that the screen freezes and my LogCat tracks the following errors:
media server died!
camera server died
ICamera died
I also get ERROR 100

When i used MonkeyRunner which by default comes with Android SDK, it records the actions only with co-ordinates.
I am trying to understand how tools like Ranorex or Squish works? They identify all the UI elements with their ID's and other properties of object repositories. How they are obtaining that?
I also tried to pull all the events of /dev/eventX folder which is hex vaules and i could convert them to decimals but how can i get the readable format of them or the object properties.
There are couple of other tools like Testdroid and Seetest which does the same too.

To be a bit more specific, I am looking for a screen-recording solution so that I can get a video of the user's interaction with the app interface. Connecting the phone to any device such as a computer to do the recording is not an option.
Here is a sample gif that I created using a Mac screen recorder to record the iOS simulator interface. Jun 23, 2013I am looking for a free and easy way to record my screen on my Galaxy S3. I looked in Google Play and found a couple good apps, but all of them required root. The others that didn't were really crappy.
When I googled it, I only found results for iPhone and older versions of android, I have android 4.1.1 jelly bean.
Is there any way to do this without spending any money and not rooting?

Nov 17, 2010I'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...

Aug 14, 2013I've downloaded some short videos and i want to add it on my phone so i can watch it, but how do i add it to my phone? I went to search and it says to look for the folder named "Videos" after you connect your phone to the computer , but i cant find that folder anywhere !!
And sometimes when i connect my phone to the computer , it shows up but when i try to view my folders it remains like that (added a picture of it)
