I am trying to port a 4.2.2 rom but my phone currently only has a 4.2.1 rom. When I port the rom I get lots of force close errors such as SystemUI has stopped what should I do to fix this.

I have a Chinese clone of Galaxy S4 called No.1 S6 with MTK6589 Cpu and Android 4.2.1 (Odexed Rom), well, I tried to replace some system app like contacts, phone and mms with the same apps taken from the Slim bean 4.2.2 Rom for the Google Nexus 4 that has the same screen resolution.
I odexed the slim bean apks with dexopt-wrapper as explained here [URL] ...., I signed them with auto-sign software, so I put them into system/app folder with right permissions, deleting old apks first, rebooted the phone, wiped cache in recovery and when the phone booted the apk I replaced was gone, so I think there's a compatibility problem between my system apps and nexus 4 ported apps, maybe I have to take the slim bean (or other ROMS, whatever) sources and edit the apks and make them compatible with my phone...
How to port system apps from other devices with different software?
I am working on a app that will eventually need to communicate with an external device over the phone USB port. Are there any USB drivers and hooks in the Android OS for such applications.

I noticed when I plug in the usb cord to my computer, no matter what I set it at (charge only, mount hard drive, etc....) the computer makes the noise like i've unplugged something from the usb even though everythings still plugged in. once it does that the phone is no longer charging and I cant see the hard drive anymore until I unplug and replug it back in. then it does it again within a minute or two.

Bourne to Blog: Negotiating with your Mobile Phone Carrier. I wanted to upgrade to an Android phone, but this would require a "data plan". Some time ago, I was told that since I wanted to keep my plan, I could add unlimited data for an additional $30/month and keep the plan. However, about a month ago, I emailed customer service wanting to do this with the Android phone. They told me can't do this with the Android phone, you'll have to switch to data plan (essentially losing my plan).
So, here's what I did: My dad got me an Android on his "Family Plan" along with my step-mom and step-sister. To add me onto his plan is just an additional $20 per month. So, this made the most economical sense (since I wasn't about to give up my old phone and plan).
My phone charging port is broken. I have been unable to charge the phone and connect it to the pc. Can anyone advise if it is possible to still get the update. I have taken the phone to a few places to see if the port can be fixed but no one is guranteeing they can fix the com port.

View 9 Replies View Relatedthe small usb port cover separate from the phone. Mine did yesterday. It's held in place by a small plastic tab which has a barbed end which should keep it attached. I guess with all the charging that this phone requires this little cover gets moved and twisted alot. It will still go back in place but I'm afraid that at some point it will separate and I'll lose it. My old HTS had a much more rubbery cover that always stayed attached to the phone.

I'd like to start porting a ICS rom from a Motorola Pro ( aka Droid Pro ) to the Motorola Pro Plus ( aka MB623 ).
My following question is this: Is this forum ->http:[url]...good for a tutorial on porting, or do i need to search for another one? ( I'm thinking that since the Pro Plus is the Pro's predecessor, it might be close enough so that the porting would not be so hard )
I've just started looking into porting ROMs (more specifically, ICS themes to Gingerbread), and I found a few tools that port the ROM for you. If it were really that easy, isn't it possible to port any ROM to any device?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a AllWinner A31S tablet with 4.2.2 but the manufacturer (portuguese brand called Growing) dont have any updates. The Telclast P88s has the exact same specs and i tried the official 4.4 of P88s on my tablet but i got a black screen on boot.
Its possible to port the 4.4 Teclast rom to my 4.2.2 tablet ?
