General :: Galaxy S GT-I9003 Boot Error?
Mar 11, 2014Crashed my WP8 and after a lot of hunting, found an old Galaxy S GT-I9003, running Froyo. Installed Kies and updated to Gingerbread. Phone worked fine for the first 5 hours (my first time with an android, fell in love with the UI and the apps) However, phone suddenly hanged and shut down on its own. Been stuck in a boot loop since then: between the Galaxy screen and the Samsung logo screen, which goes back to the Galaxy screen. I can boot into recovery and download. Already tried reset/cache wipe. No avail. Tried the emergency firmware thing in Kies. It sort of went halfway and then suddenly blacked out, and after that even that wont work, Kies refuses to recognize the phone.

Sep 29, 2012i'm currently making a custom ROM for the Galaxy SL i9003 based on CM10 (its a HDPI device), and i'd like to know where the png of the statusbar is. Additionally I would also like to know where the png of the background is in the status bar drawer. I know it is either in framework-res.apk or systemui.apk but I don't have enough time to look through folders.

General :: Unable To Wipe Data From Samsung Galaxy I9003
Jan 21, 2012Samsung Galaxy i9003. The phone was on stock firmware 2.2.1 but it was having a lot of FCs and sudden restarts. Also, my friend wanted to upgrade it to Gingerbread.
I managed to flash a stock firmware 2.3.4 Arabic into the phone through Odin. I selected re-partition, then in 3e recovery mode I wiped both partition cache and user data.
However, when the phone booted, it was upgraded to 2.3.4 as it should but all the data and apps were kept as they are! I tried a factory reset from setting and still all the data remain intact.
I booted into recovery again and wiped all data but all remain the same! I flashed the stock firmware again using Odin and still no data were wiped! I even formatted the internal storage with no luck...The phone wasn't rooted, how this is possible?

I've tried more than 10 call recorders for my phone, but it didn't work. I found an application on Google Play which says "the application might not work with Samsung GT-I9003 due to lack of support". any working call recorder for my mobile? keeping in view the point that I'm new to android.

May 18, 2012 I upgraded my Galaxy 551 to Gingerbread 2.3.6. All went well. Unfortunately it seems to be a common side effect that the Z and Y keys (and some others) get swapped. The fix is apparently to modify the file /system/usr/keychars/sec_keypad.kcm.bin. The ideal thing is to put the old file from before the FW update back in, but of course I don't have that anymore! But the existing one can apparently be altered. If I can copy it to the SD card I can alter it in a hex editor and put it back.
So, I rooted my phone with that one click application, and that went OK too. I installed root explorer and found the file. There were also some others in the same folder I may be able to use. But, I cant make the folder R/W (pressing the button does nothing) so cant do anything with the file. I also tried Super Manager with no luck.

Feb 9, 2012I flashed my i9003 with the xxkph rom. Everything works fine except the wifi. When I want to turn it off, it will stay 'turning off'. I tried factory reset and wipe cache, and even reflash the rom, but none of them works! And whats more, I used to use the xxkpe rom and the issue also exists!

Oct 31, 2011I got my Samsung GT-I9003 4GB a month ago, and everything was working perfectly until 3 days ago. It starts showing an "Internal SD card unexpectedly removed" error whenever the phone goes standby, then it forces me to terminate processes one after another, and finally it shuts down. I hadn't done any kind of ROM flashing nor rooting the device until the problems arose, so I don't know where the problem comes from.
I've tried to re-flash froyo 2.2.1 in my device, but the problem keeps showing up.
I found in this forums this thread [URL] .... covering the possibility of swapping both internal memory and external SD. It works great, but I still had problems with the "external SD card" being "unexpectedly removed"...
It crossed my mind if it was possible to modify the vold.fstab file further to only detect the external SD card as the internal memory and ignore the internal memory, as if it wasn't even on the phone. I don't know if that's even possible (since I don't know much about file systems nor Android).

Jun 30, 2012I'd like to modify the Gallery3D application , which is already included in my current rom (CM7 nightly), using eclipse and adb. However when trying to install the version I compiled, it fails.
There are two conflicts at least : the package name, and the providers.
I tried to freeze the ROM version with titanium backup, but it doesn't change anything.
The package name, I could change it in the source code (using sed utility, since eclipse was generating an exception with the Android tool to rename the package -_-)
But the providers, this is really annoying to have to change their names as well, it's a much more complicated operation, and I'd prefer to be able to use the source code as is.
I suppose I could try to remove Gallery3D from the ROM, but not sure how to do that. Or other possibilities ?

PS I have more music than what would fit on the the phones storage so moving songs from micro SD to the phones internal storage would not be an option.

Apr 24, 2014I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, GT-8190.
The first symptom was that my phone reboots itself constantly. My phone is rooted. I have TWRP installed.
I tried to flash a stock rom with Odin, it seemed to go well, but when the phone rebooted it was the same as before. I tried wiping the data with TWRP but when it reboots, everything is there again. I tried uninstalling the apps manually, but when I reboot the phone, they appear again. It's like I can't change anything in the internal memory. I can't do a factory reset, it reboots exactly the same as before.
It is like the internal memory is completely frozen. If I uninstall a program, it reappears on reboot, If I install an app, it disappears, If I turn off the wifi, it appears ON when reboot...

It's supposed that with the RootTools.copyFile I can make that operation, but It doesn't make anything. I see that in cat /proc/mount doesn't appear etc folder. I'm tried too with the Apache transfer file copy, FileUtils.copyFile(source, destination) but it seems that it have problem with the mount system, who seems to be in RO. I try too with RootTools.remount("/etc", "RW") but fails too.
I want to know how I can edit, create, delete, modify files in /etc /data... etc.
I'm testing this on a Samsung Galaxy S3 with an stock rom 4.1.2.
