I am cancelling my personal contract as I have a company supplied win 7 phone but would like to continue to use the apps on my android at home using the WiFi. I have tried it without the sim but I cannot get past the 'no sim detected' screen after turning it on. The only options are shut down or restart.
Is there any modification, setting or app I can use to bypass the requirement for an active sim card?
How to build a free android app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI see that there are so many APK backup app in the Play Store. I am curious to know what is the good and free one to use for non rooted Gingerbread phone.
preferably able to upload to google drive, but if not, if I can save apk to micro SD card is ok as well.
I'm looking for an app that will navigate while I'm driving, and take traffic into account. Kind of like the at&t navigator, but without having to pay a subscription fee.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've done some research, but haven't found what I'm looking for. To cope with the memory limitation of my phone, I move some apps to Rom with titanium explorer. Does the rom use the rom partition free space for something? Writting cache, and so on? I have a Xperia J and a X10 mini pro, and they both have around 20 Mb of free space on the ROM. Is it ok? Is there a "safe threshold"?

I uninstalled many less-used apps from the task manager yet the "free-memory" shown is not as much as it should be on the device !!
I also move many apps to SD using app2sd but still the device memory has not been freed as per my expectation ! out of the 1.97 GB available i have hardly 0.94 GB left as free memory on device !!
how to legally get free digital magazines to your Android device (or iPhone, or computers).
- First you need to download the Zinio app
- Then look up your local public library. See if they have agreement with Zinio for digital magazines. I did with my local library through their website and they did!
-go to your library and open a library card.
- go back to the library's website and click on link for Zinio magazines. You'll need to then type in the library card #
- you'll also need to register for Zinio which is totally free. Use the same email you used to get your library card
- Then browse what magazines are available and download away. The magazines download to your device and it's yours forever.
- again this is totally Free and Legal.
My library has alot of magazines but only one car magazine, Car and Driver, but alot of others like Newsweek, US weekly, National Geographic.

I've also however heard that sometimes it still gets back to the carrier and they cancel your service. I've been using my tethering in very small doses because I'm not sure if big red is monitoring me. If they aren't I want to take full advantage of the tethering feature.

View 9 Replies View Relatedis there any keylogger app for android that is free and offline? next week im going to give my wife a smartphone as a birthday present.
i just need an offline keylogger that saves the logs in .txt file hidden somewhere in the phone since i can borrow that phone for a while. i don't need the one that use a gps or internet..
I just recently picked up an HTC Rezound from my local Verizon and I love it.
The only thing I feel that is missing is movies (Because of its stunning HD 1080p playback)
So I was wondering if there was any possible way to get free up-to-date movies on this thing.
I was wondering if there's any free browser that "does" flash and html5 "equally" well...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI read epub on both my phone and tablet (htc sensation, soon replace by S3, and my asus TFP). It's pretty hard to find a good app for reading epub.I want to sync all my book, bookmarks, notes between my devide.I've tried:
moon reader (lot of lag when turning pages, and don't like to use dropbox, i don't have an account)
aldiko (no turning pages effect, no sync)
kobo (needs a account)
fbreader (no shelf, no syncing)
mantano (no turning pages effect, no sync)
google books (not available in France, can't import epub file)
go books (no sync)
Mantano had a service for syncing but It's really lame to having me paid just for that. So, at the end, I'm looking for an app with:
shelf
turning pages effect (optionnal)
free syncing
Smooth (lag driving me crazy)

When I go to the Play website I have to log in before I can do anything. However, from my phone or tablet I can install as many free apps as they want with no password required.
My kids are getting tablets but I don't want them to be able to install anything on their own, including free apps.
It is illegal to modify a free app then upload it to playstore?
For example I want to Mod instagram in different colors then upload it to playstore for free?
Now the XT532 (taiwan version) can be rooted, I am interested to know what can be removed. On the internal memory, it states is has 160Mb available of which 95 is already used by the applications on the ROM. So I only have 65Mb available for new programs. I try to move as much as possible to the SD-card, but still i run into the limits very fast. But how do I know what can be removed safely? Also, a total of 160Mb seems quite low for a phone which is listed as 500Mb ROM/ 500Mb RAM. How is that calculated? Is the other 340 all occupied by Android?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tested two Voice to SMS Apps (Text By Voice, and Voice Text). The latter uses Google Voice Search for speech recognition. When I have a hands free bluetooth kit in my car connected, both apps listen through the microphone in the phone, not the hands free mic. This leads me to believe this may be an O/S limitation with Android 4.1.1 (I'm running on a Samsung S3). Can confirm that only the Phone app can use the hands free mic. Otherwise, it seems very odd/coincidental BOTH of these apps fail to use the hands free mic like the Phone app does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYou know that Google+ Instant Upload photos don't count against your storage, but do you want that free storage for any photo at all? Here is a little workaround
Simple, but effective: just hook your phone up to your computer and drag and drop any photos you want into your phone's camera folder and, viola, they are treated like newly taken photos and uploaded to G+. (or use a file manager right on your phone to copy and paste there). Then, just delete those photos from the camera folder afterwards.
Now, keep in mind that they will be reduced to the "free upload" pixel limit of 2048, just like any other instant uploads, but for many of us, our camera phone pictures are not much bigger anyway.
Extra pro-tip: videos are also "free storage" and they don't reduce their quality at all. You can really maximize your free G+ storage with video.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, though I've seen people post about the problem with other devices, so I think this is an "Android" problem.
I just got the tablet about a week ago, but this is by no means my first tablet, or Android device. I don't want to root or anything -- I'm happy with the stock device, along with the apps I install and the files I download to it. I've got a 64GB microSD card (also Samsung brand), formatted as FAT32, and it works just fine.
So, I was filling the tablet up with media files, and I was downloading video files to it. It has 16GB of internal memory, and I figured I would fill up a bit more than half of that with some of my bigger video files. I downloaded a few files, then figured I could download a bit more, and downloaded a couple more. Then I looked at the free memory, and it was down to 3GB free -- "whoops, too much." So, I deleted the two files, which were about 3GB together. AND THE FREE MEMORY DIDN'T INCREASE ONE BIT.
And I've been trying to "get my memory back," ever since. So, here are a couple of screen shots I can show you:
First up is the usual Storage view:
OK, so what the heck is that 3.36GB in "Miscellaneous files?" That's roughly the size of the two files I deleted, so let's go in and take a closer look:
So, it's in the "System memory" up at the top. So, what is "System memory," and what could be taking up that kind of space? Some kind of "cache" that kept the two files I deleted in memory, perhaps?
So, from here, it's pretty simple: What is in that "System memory," and how do I clear it out?
It's NOT any "application cache" -- I've used apps that clean out the application cache, but they didn't touch this "System memory."
I've tried the "Wipe cache partition" from the recovery menu, and that didn't touch this "System memory."
I sure haven't seen any apps that can do it.
Or, is having a big wad of whatever in the "System memory" pretty typical, and thus it doesn't have anything to do with the fact I deleted those files and the free memory didn't increase? I doubt that, because I've seen quite a few screen shots of the Miscellaneous files screens that other folks have posted, and I have NEVER seen a "System memory" item at the top like I have.
At this point, I'm expecting that I'm going to have to do a full reset to the factory build, just to free up this big wad of unused memory. Of course, I would rather not do that, but if I'm going to do it, it would be "better sooner than later."
I'm looking for a way to download some FREE apps from google play without having the market installed. To make a long story short: I don't like the market to know what my phone runs. So is there any software I could download there free app "My Callya" with? Have looked everywhere on the interwebs, but can't find it. I'd be more than happy about a download link to it though.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought iball andi 5li android smart phone a few days back. The configuration of the phone is:
512mb ram
4gb internal
1.2ghz cortex a9 processor
android 4.1.2
Although my device runs almost every app out there (including temple run, subway surfers etc.) but occasionally im facing problems.
Problem occurs after 3-4 days of restarting the phone. When i restart and check the ram usage it says 350 mb (approx) as used and 150mb(approx) as free ram every app runs smoothly but as days pass by gradually the free ram starts decreasing down to 30 mb where all the apps (games and browsers) start crashing with a low memory message. then the conditions get worse after approx 2 hrs free ram is now 0.0 bytes and even the launcher, settings etc crash with a low memory message. The only solution out is to restart the phone.
[used androids before and is quite aware of closing or killing apps but none is working]
Already Tried:
# removing apps from recent list
# stopping apps from Setting>apps>running apps & cached apps as well
# restoring to factory defaults
# used ram freeing apps (no change on ram)
I have a Galaxy S3, and I noticed that my thumbnails cache was absolutely massive. It grew to 9.6 GB in size. Using Root Explorer, I deleted the .thumbdata3 file and replaced it with a blank file. I noticed that my free space remained 550 MB. I rebooted the device, and it was still reporting only 550 MB free, but there is no sign of the 9.6 GB file anymore. The new .thumbdata3 file reports that it is 0 kb. Next, I tried deleting the .thumbnails folder entirely, thinking maybe the old file was still there someplace. I created a new .thumbnails folder, and created a new .thumbdata3 folder inside of it. After deleting the 9.6 GB thumb file, and the approximately 750 MB worth of photos that were in .thumbnails, my device still shows that only 550 MB is free.
How can this be? I searched the entire device using Root Explorer for any files or folders containing ".thumb," and the 9.6 GB file is definitely gone.
My device details:
Model: SCH-I535
Android version: 4.0.4
Build number: SynergyROM 1.7
