i bought a new galaxy s2 and if i was browsing a video on a full site such as ( youtube on (desktop version ) or in any site with a full desktop version when i click on the flash video it freezes and crashes . tried all brwser apps in the market and it does the same thing expect firefox but it lags like hell around 5 fps, cus iv seen alot of problems with the same galaxy users

I have an HTC Inspire with Android 2.3.5. Last night my stock browser kept crashing on two particular Wikipedia pages. I cleared the cache and even went to Menu > Settings > Apps and cleared data for the browser (which also erased my bookmarks). It still crashed on those pages. Wouldn't you be surprised if you kept crashing on ordinary Wikipedia pages? No other pages crashed.
(1) I've read that anti-malware programs for Android are not very good - someone tested them and the free ones found only 10% of malware they should have found. Paid ones were slightly better. Are there any malware scanner apps that are good? I prefer ones that aren't always running.
(2) Are you supposed to update the stock browser? If so, how do you do it? It might be automatic.
(3) Do you think I should upgrade to a newer Android? When I went from 2.3.3. to 2.3.5, it took a long time and I didn't like some of the changes.
I can't get Chrome because you have to have Android 4.0 or later.Does your stock browser often crash for no apparent reason? I've had this phone for a year. Before, it only crashed on pages I rarely visited and were heavy in effects.
I can say i am a little disappointed about the phone, because a lot of app are crashing, i can't see google docs on it and so one. are there any custom Roms for this phone? or 2.2.1 ? i rooted with One click Root...also i did Un-root because i had to send it to guaranty because of the screen. another disappointing problem is the battery...its lasting around 1-1.5 days, and thats not cool

The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).

For some unapparent reason, my default internet browser keeps crashing.
It will load the Google mobile homepage (and if I change the homepage then it loads that too), but if I navigate to any page then it says I have to force close it. Also, if I try to clear history then this crashes it also.
I haven't installed any new programs so I'm really stuck here.
Is any one else having this problem? Both Xscope and stock browser both crashing.

View 14 Replies View RelatedProblem is, any page on the BBC News website containing a Flash movie crashes the stock browser . So, while this and this are OK. This, this and even the mobile help page crash the browser (links included for you to try ). No force close, the browser just vanishes and I get returns me to the phone home screen.
I've cleared the cache and cookies and even restarted the phone to no avail (and no, I'm not doing a hard reset ).
iPlayer pages are OK as is YouTube.
Is this a BBC problem? Is anyone else having the same issue or is it just me?

I haven't had a problem until tonight.
I was using the stock browser on MySpace, finished what I was doing, logged out and used the back key to get back to the home screen, which I always do. I could never get back to the home screen, the farthest back it would take me was to the original MySpace login screen and I had to hit the home key to get back to the home screen.
When I now try to open the browser, it acts like it is loading, I see the status bar, which loads all the way, but other than that, the screen is completely white and stays that way - the whole screen is white and never does anything.
Could this have been caused by MySpace or maybe a browser issue that happened to occur while I was on MySpace?
I have cleared cache, cleared all data, rebooted a few times, force stopped it, killed it with advanced task manager and everything else I could think of.

View 16 Replies View Relatedthe Android Browser is not streaming the video, it forces it to download it first to play it in the Android Player or some other video app I have on the phone (The Daily Motion website won't even play videos, it shut plays audio). On my old iPhone, I would touch a video and it would stream through the browser, Chrome, Dolphin, Safari, etc. But with Android, it always wants me to download or try to play through an app which doesn't work or it just doesn't work. I have tried, Dolphin, Boat, Chrome, Opera, Baidu... none of them just play the video with problems. I didn't have this issue with iPhone, and it's kinda upsetting that I have such powerful hardware (Galaxy Note 3) and stuff just doesn't work like it should.I thought it was just my phone, but i tried it on my friend's HTC One and got the same results, so it must be an Android issue.

I click a video from say, 9news.com. The video plays in landscape mode with the PLAY button and slider for video time progress.
BUT, when the play button and slider disappears, so does the video. There is sound, but no video.

I bought a Galaxy a long time ago, and earlier today out of nowhere it wouldn't boot! I would stay stuck on the "android" flashing and rebooting didn't help. Well, I booted into recovery and did a full restore, and now I can get into the OS, but it keeps crashing! It crashes for no reason, apparently and at different times. Very annoying, I have to keep turning the phone on all the time. No its not low batteries, I'm not that stupid. Haven't messed around with the phone at all, firmware or rooting or anything like that.
If their are other threads regarding Android crashing on a minute by minute basis can someone please link. And when I say minute by minute, sometimes it is that bad.

So Adobe no longer supports android which means u have to use the app separate from ur browser...cnt figure out how to keep audio/video from YouTube app running while switching to browser...while in youtube when i hold the home button nd select the browser, it goes to browser but video becomes paused...i checkex youtube app settings but nothing...is it a different setting im missing?
what about radio apps...can u switch from one of those to a different app nd still have music playing?
I'm using the Note2 with the TW-based Digiblur rom and am having trouble when playing HTML5 player videos in the stock web browser. Any time a video plays, instead of timing out like they are supposed to, the navigation softkeys on the device stay lit while the video is playing. If I pause or stop the video, everything goes back to normal and the keys time out like they are supposed to. The problem is not present in any video player application, including the stock YouTube client.

This occurs with random pages, it happens about once out 20 times I go to load any web page.
It does not happen on the all pages, just certain pages. (I've failed to note which pages so far) When it does happen, if I try to open that same web page again again, it crashes. If I immediately try another web page it's fine.
My Captivate is original, w/ver 2.1 Eclair, not rooted (yet) and otherwise operates very well. So far it's the only bug I've had.
My device is a Galaxy Y, and has no official support from both the CM7 or the MIUi teams. There is CM7 build by a developer here on the XDA device thread, but it isn't completely stable due to lack of closed source drivers from Qualcomm.
Since MIUi is only available on MDPI and above devices, I have resorted to taking files from other ports for LDPI devices.
I was very successful in booting a release of MIUi I had made the previous day, but the browser kept encountering FC errors. There is already a port of MIUi available on my device forum, and that has the same problem too. I have taken a logcat, but I am completely lost as to why it keeps FCing.

For whatever reason every browser I try reloads tabs when I leave the browser. It's REALLY annoying - I'm stuck on edge most of the time, and finding out that my tabs suddenly reload just because I switched to twitter for a second.
I tried to pretty much disable the LMK, and it still did this...
I tried Chrome, Browser Plus, stock ICS browser, Dolphin and Opera (which does this slightly less often) Last time I had this problem was on my old tablet with only 256 MB of RAM. (Which still did this less often than the Note on ICS)
Every time this happened, I had at least 120 MB of ram free. Seriously, the note has a full gigabyte of ram, and yet this happens.
This doesn't happen to me on GB.
Is there anything I can do to make browsing normal again? Like, exclude a browser from getting killed, or something? I'm using a Galaxy Note..
I started streaming a video on Galaxy S2. I wanted to pause it and when I touch anywhere on the screen a white lock appears. I can't do anything now. The video is playing but I can't even navigate back to the home screen, bring up Settings...anything. How it got there or how to get rid of it.

However I wasn't due for an upgrade until December, so I couldn't get an iPhone 5 as soon as it was released... as fortune would have it, I found an ad on Craigslist where a fella was trading his Galaxy S3 straight up for a "iPhone 4 or 5". So we met at the Verizon store and I gave him my iPhone 4 32gb and he gave me his Galaxy S3 16gb with a 32gb SD card. Talk about a SCORE!
Anyway, I've been learning the Android ropes for about two weeks now. Here is my question/dilemma: at the end of the month we are taking a vacation to Las Vegas and Disneyland. I anticipate recording lots of video and shooting lots of photos at Disneyland.
I would like to be able to edit my videos using iMovie on the iPad, but I'm not quite sure how I can get the video moved over. I'd rather not have to lug my MacBook Pro across the country with me.
Can I use the SD card adapter for the iPad to pull video off of my S3's Micro SD? Or will it see the correct folder?
I thought about Dropbox, but can't find a way to move the video from Dropbox into iMovie. (grr iOS)
