The tablet is an allwinner a23 not in some peoples opinion worth a lot of effort to fix. We have an identical tablet with the same firmware. If I root and install a custom recovery on the unbricked tablet can that zip be flashed without a custom recovery? I have looked about a bit and there seems to be conflicting opinions on this. The only prob I can see is the stock recovery may not have the option to wipe the dalvik cache.

So I've been looking into flashing custom kernels, and I can't seem to find an answer to this question. Basically, I'm wondering if the kernel remains after installing a new nightly, or do I have to reflash the kernel every time the ROM updates?

When I attempt to flash it tells me there is an error in the .zip file and displays (status 0). I am guessing I have done something wrong when building the ROM in dsixda's kitchen.

(this appeared before when phone was in stock state).Is it possible to do it without re-flashing to stock?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am on twrp recovery version 2.1.3 and to upgrade to 2.5.0.0 I used the Google .im app but even after the message showing that recovery was flashed successfully, when I reboot into recovery I still see the 2.1.3 twrp only..So I tried flashing it with terminal emulator but it didn't work.This error shows up every time failed scanning partitions failed with error : - 1

So I was having a problem with my Optimus V (Virginmobile) and I couldn't send or receive texts. I did a factory restart thinking it would work but then found myself at the recovery menu. My Samsung Galaxy Reverb has nobody willing to build CM10 for it, so I decided to take on the task. It built without error - processed the kernel and all the CyanogenMod 10 files just fine and generated the .zip. However, after flashing the .zip I end up with a Samsung logo, then a black screen.
The compile went through without error, so I'm a little lost as to what I should check next. From doing a little searching it seems the kernel is at fault, but what to do about that. Am I supposed to flash the kernel separate from the .zip that the CM builder outputs?

I realized, searched and found flash_image ... come to find out custom compile of recovery was fine, fastboot did not like my device and wasn't flashing it properly.
So flash_image got the custom recovery working as suppose to, able to backup/restore ... Flash roms.. however there are no roms.. best i could do was try roms from devices close to this one, with no luck!

This is the first (and only) time that I have try to root my phone (with the AAHK). After alot of reading I managed to ROOT my Desire HD and it says S-OFF.
The problem is that I am not able to install a costum ROM. I have tried the following roms:
1. Android_Revolution_HD-4G_6.3.3
2. TrickDroid_v2.0.0_C2
And I allways get the same error. It says status 0. I found in some other threads on XDA-devoloppers that the problem is: "Wrong update-binary".

So I have looked around xda etc. Cant find a simple answer (hoping there is). So long story I am on a rooted Evo. I was trying to flash cm6 via rom manager. I kept getting error 7's. So I found the PC36IMG.zip followed the directions. I am now in bootloader. Tried (many times) to run nandroid. But it gives me the error while flashing boot image for all 3 backups.

Followed the instructions as said and now I have the choice to boot to recovery or if I let the boot go all the way through it gets stuck after the verizon logo. When I try to flash a different ROM, I hit install from SD card and everytime, no matter which ROM I pick, it starts updating but says opening file, then like 2 more lines saying opening, then it stops the install.

Make sure you put in the components correctly. After md5 check has completed, you can flash and take a little break. Once you're in the standby screen on the phone, you can turn it off and reset the Odin and select the ROM and .ops file along with the ROM.
I rooted my stock 2.2 Evo a few days ago and have been loving CM6 on it. I had Clockwork Recovery 2.5.0.1 installed and finally got used to using it. I read that ROM manager was a nice graphical interface to CWR so I went to check it out. Unfortunately I couldn't do anything at all in it. Every time I tried to do anything it said I needed Clockwork Recovery installed. This confused me because it already was installed.
I would try to install it anyways, I would select "Evo CDMA" and then it would fail every time. I decided I would try to install Amon-Ra instead, and then just flash back. ROM Manager was able to flash Amon-Ra easily, but now still gives me an error every time I try to install Clockwork. I'm still new to the whole rooting scene and this is the first problem I've run into. Also, I already tried Fixing User Permissions.
Sometimes when I try to install custom roms with odin3 I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error. It always says: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information". Right now, I am trying to flash a custom rom and it is giving me this. Do I need to change something in the data.img or something?
