My brother installed a new ROM on my phone and now I can't tether with my Samsung Galaxy Tab. This happened before and I had to go in and delete a program but can't remember what it was called.

I've just got my new Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone which looks awesome. I had been using a Nokia N97 Mini which had behaved OK and I've been using Joikuspot as a WIFI tether which is important because of my need for the internet during the day. I was really please to find that the Galaxy has an inbuilt tether application in the Mobile AP however I cannot get it to work and wondered if any one else had any issues? The Mobile AP kicks in ok and I can find it on my laptop however when I try to connect it just tells me that it cannot connect and goes into trying to diagnose the problem. I tried to bypass this by inputting the wireless connection manually but when I do it tells me the security option is wrong but does this for every option in the list.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 galaxy S phones from T-Mobile, and have Easy Tether installed on both.My wife's Dell Inspriron laptop uses Windows XP, and she has no problems on the tethering.internet access is great.My Dell XPS laptop has Windows 7, and when I open Easy Tether my display goes all funky and loses definition.colors get screwed up, and everything gets very tough to read etc.If I use my phone with my wife's lap top.no problem, so I assume that my laptop has something that's fighting with Easy tether.Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this?I need help!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.

There are no custom kernels or CWM for my device.
S2 i777...a friend of mine bought it for me from us and i unlocked it using the code purchased from ebay..my problem is that i rooted my device to remove bloatware from the device and accidently removed samsung stock weather app(accuweather)completely..after that i unrooted my phone to stock stage as it was at the time my friend bought it but the weather app is no where to be found on my device....i tried to find for a solution to reinstall that app..i found the apk from here but when i try to install it gives me an error "Application not installed".

I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
I keep hearing that Sprint is going to start prohibiting tetheing. First off, how do they know that we are tethering? And I guess the answer to that question will answer this one.....but then how will they prevent us from tethering???

Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
I'm trying to run the tether lite on my girl's samsung moment and can't get it to work but my htc hero was a piece of pie to work and i hate reading directions?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 4 phones for my company. 2 HTC Heroes and 2 Samsung Moments.I setup both phones on my 2 pc's and laptops.Both phones worked great.Now only the Heroes are working with Easy Tether.I have loaded and reloaded the Samsung drivers. This problem occurred in the last few days.Sometimes the Samsung are recognized as "Legacy USB's".The Moments are supposed to be backup phones.I have not upgraded to the Full Easy Tether until I can get the problems 100% resolved.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with the one click app, side loaded the wireless tether app in and it works fine for tethering. The problem is when I choose to stop tethering the app says it's in an unknown state and to restart my phone.
Tethering still works fine but when I click stop tethering I can still see the beacon name on my client device. Also when I try and force stop it, I can't, it's still running. The only way to really kill it is to reboot the phone.
If I am not giving enough info I apologize and will give more if needed.
I am rooted and can't get my computer to connect to the androidtether network... any idea how to get it to connect.

I turn it on and it says that its been granted superuser permissions but then no data moves up or down(or it'll say .4 down and .2 up) and no devices find it! View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
