Any app which allows me, to turn my N4 into a wifi-hotspot and offers the connected clients a kind of portal on which he has to login with username/password? Only after a correct authentication, he is able to use the tethered connection from the phone.

I am new to android and know very little about authentication. Ive been asked to build an rss feed app that will need to do Client side certificate authentication through SSL.
I've looked into the keychain api but how to use it and seen no tutorials of its usage.
I am a little lost as ive not done anything with authentication before. How to do mutual SSL client Authentication in android 4.0?
Lately (last 3 weeks) I've been getting those prompts to copy a word code in order to access my gmail. i get three of them actually. I'm assuming it's because i have three gmail accounts set up on my phone. i don't know if these prompts are for syncing or accessing my gmail. all i know is they're random, never at startup, and not necessarily prompted by anything specific that i do,,,like trying to get into email or something. they just pop up.
They're accompanies by an orange exclamation mark in the top notification bar. it has never occurred to me until now as i post, to pull down the notification to see what it's about.
iam using miui pepper on CM9.In my college there is a 4 MB/S wifi connectivity,unfortunately android and ios users cant access wifi but connections are available for laptop users!.while connecting in laptop wifi asks authentication, after entering username and pass lap is able to use wifi!!!.

I was able to set up the proxy server through Settings - Wireless and Network - WiFi Settings - (Options button) - Advanced.
This works well for the browser. If the proxy server requires authentication, then a dialog box pops up for that purpose.
However, all the other apps are totally useless behind a proxy server that requires authentication.
How do I work around this without rooting my phone? If rooting is absolutely necessary, what app do you recommend to use (after rooting)? My google searches turn up ProxyDroid.
I have a Samsung Note 10.1. I have a new XFinity modem that I have connected all my house phones and laptops to. On my note, when I leave the house and come back, my WiFi screen shows "Authentication Error" when I try to reconnect to the WiFi. Nothing I do-- restart Note, re-enter modem password, etc, will work to get it reconnected EXCEPT resetting the XFinity modem again...then in connects again...UNTIL I leave and come back again. Just got off the phone with Comcast/XFinity and they say everything is ok with my system.

Am I able to run both airdroid AND pdanet off the same tether to my pc? (pc has no bluetooth or wifi capabilities, so a hard line is my only option).I loved the features that airdroid gave me and would love to get them working again with my current setup.

So when I connect to my tethered connection on my phone I want to use proxy that is set up on my phone.
Is there a way for that? I found the vpn setting but nothing about proxy.
after rooting my Androidphone, USB tethering is not working anymore. This is what I do:
1) after connecting the phone to USB the mass media notfication appears. I cancel that notification,
2) and activate "USB Tethering in Settings->Wireless & networks->Tethering & portable hotspot
3) the mass media notfication appears again and disappers instantly (this never happend before),
In the "USB Tethering" field I can see then the message "USB tethering error".In netcat i found this:

It is an Alcatel991D( Android 2.3.6, Kernel 2.6.35.7) phone.It looks, like kernel options CONFIG_IP_ADVANCED_ROUTER=y CONFIG_ IP_ MULTIPLE_ TABLES =y are not compiled into this kernel.
The problem persists even after installing stock ROM by Alcatel OneTouchUpgrade.Also Wipe data/factory reset/wipe cache partition/wipe dalvik cache did not work."USB debugging" has been already tested (on or off), no change.
I only have Internet via wifi.

Has tested the USB tethering feature built into the Galaxy S3 SC-06D Docomo ROM version? The Wifi Hotspot seems to work fine (private IP addresses), but the USB tethering uses a 5.x.x.x IP address and the DHCP does not assign a DNS IP address. I have tried to manually enter DNS IP addresses but I may be using the wrong one because it might have to be local to NTT's network.
I never had this problem with USB tethering my SC-02C Galaxy S2.

The only way I want to keep this thing is if I can tether from my droid to my iPad. I don't want to pay another Internet fee. I have read other forum posts about this but can't seem to find anything about tethering using 3G instead of wifi. I have easy tether on my phone that I use for my computer and figured surely it can be used for the iPad as well. I don't wanna do all the rooting crap that everyone talks about either. Can't I somehow use the iPads cable to connect to my phone for Internet?

I want to run tor on my phone and activate wireless tethering. Since I dont have an unlimited data plan I wanted to reverse teather my phone to my PC,so my phone acts like a router for masking traffic from my ps3 to the internet. If that doesn't work,I could set up Tor on my computer to transfer traffic from Android Tool to a foreign server.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very nice 3G plan on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (P3100) with Ice Cream Sandwich and i want to use the tethering option to share my internet connection and advertise my business through it. I can successfully share my 3G over wifi but i wanna go a step further and install a proxy on my tablet (or something similar) so when someone accesses my tethering wifi connection gets redirected to a webpage of my choise before being able to access any other websites (just like most proxies work in Hotels/Airports etc but without the need of any password, maybe just pushing an "Accept" button after a few lines of info)

I recently installed a new Custom Rom "TheBrainsRom" on the SSpeed Kernel v3 on my Xperia U. All was fine until i tried to turn on the Tethering. It shows that it is tethering but then it doesnt broadcast. At times, the Status Bar also gives a force close issue.
Is this usually to do with the Kernel or ROM handles such functions independently. What could i do in order to avoid having to reflash the device.
i have recently upgrade my ace 2 to CM11 mahdirom, previously i installed the CM11 maclaw release. when i turn on the wifi tethering, the icon showed up, but i cannot detect my SSID on my laptop and my tab.

I am beating my head against a wall trying to figure out why I cannot get Authenticated on my server whilst using HttpUrlConnection. I need to post a file in a post method and it seems I cannot do so with the DefaultHttpClient and a regular HttpPost (unless I am completely missing something?). I can get DefaultHttpClient to authenticate just fine using setCredentials() but the same doesn't exist for HttpUrlConnection so I try to set through setRequestProperty: conn.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + Base64EncodedUserNamePassword); to no avail.
