Jun 22, 2013I have contacts on my Droid with phone numbers that the same contact in Gmail do not have. Some history:
I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
General :: Multiple Contacts That Share Same Phone Number
Nov 14, 2012Just switched from a PalmPre+ and am still trying to learn about ICS on my Droid4 but ran into something I can not seem to find a solution for:
I have several conference call contacts that share the same access number and I keep their unique access ID as part of the contact name so that I can type it in when prompted (once the call connects and the contact name is still visible on the dialer pad).
e.g.
"Adam's conferencee call code 12345678"
Work 1-800-555-1212
"Betty's conference call code 87654321"
Work 1-800-555-1212
"Charlie's conference call code 54637281"
Work 1-800-555-1212
however when manually choosing to dial from Betty's contact list, the android dialer ends up showing "Adam's conference 12345678".
is there a way to "disable the phone# look up when picking from the contact" which ends up displaying the first contact name it encounters in the alphabetically sorted list?

May 6, 2014I just got my galaxy S5. I synced the phone with my facebook , now I have all my facebook friends in my phone contacts but I CAN NOT edit them and add their phone number !!!

Android App To Show ID Instead Of Phone Number
Apr 24, 2014I'm designing an android app. It pairs phone numbers to user IDs and allows you to dial a phone number via the ID by pulling the phone number from a web-server and dialing it with the native android phone application. However I want the native android phone app to show the ID instead of the phone number. Is this possible and how do i achieve it.
This is important because in my environment, the phone number of a contact varies often and the best way to handle this is changing the phone number attached to an ID.

Aug 10, 2010When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name.
When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!

Feb 13, 2013Running on a Droid 4 with no mods. Email is a POP3 based account.
Are there any apps out there that will show on the email icon that messages are waiting? Right now, all I am getting is the update in the top status/notification bar. If I clear that bar out, I have 0 notification without going into the actual client. BB would show a red * on the icon, and iPhones show a red circle with a number in it on the mail icon. I'm looking for something similar on the droid.

On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?

recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?

Sep 16, 2010I got my Droid 2 a couple weeks ago, and I'm having two problems with my contacts list: 1) For some contacts, the phone numbers aren't displayed when I view the contact. To see the numbers, I have to edit the contact. This is only true for some, not all. Is there a setting somewhere that this is controlled? 2) Sometime when I go into my contact list, I see a list of social media items for my contacts instead of their names (which is very frustrating). What controls this?

Aug 9, 2009I just installed fatal1ty's hero rom version 1.4 last night on my rogers magic(a version modified for 32a) and I have a couple questions about the different apps. First of all, is there any way to make it show only contacts with phone numbers? Every time I send a message with gmail, that email is automatically added to my contacts but I don't really want to see it there when I'm looking for phone contacts. It makes my list very long. I know I can do this with apps like aContacts but I want to use the HTC contacts app if possible. Second, I was playing some music and then my lock screen wallpaper suddenly decided to change to the album art. I assumed that it was supposed to do this but then after I stopped playing the music it stayed. I then changed the lock screen wallpaper but it did no good. Finally, how do I add words to my dictionary. The keyboard seems identical to the one that I had as a stock rogers magic except the "add word" button has disappeared.

Aug 26, 2010On my DROID X with 2.1, I was successful at transferring my Contacts after uploading a csv file to GMAIL made from my old phone (Samsung Omnia). What I have ended up with on my Droid X is only being able to see the contacts in "All Contacts" and none of them show up in "Phone Contacts". Also, even in "All Contacts" , all it gives is the name of the person, and no other attached information like phone number, address, etc. When I go to check the contacts online on the PC on GMAIL, when I click on an individual contact, all the missing information on the DROID is there and perfectly intact. Losing my mind over this and hoping and praying I will not have to pull up "Edit" on all 210 entries and enter the numbers and adresses by hand.

May 19, 2010I am trying to backup my contacts so I can update to 2.1. Currently, the contacts on my phone are split between Phone (people who I call) and Google (people who I email). My google contacts are really messy and disorganized because it is every single person I email. Currently, I have my phone only showing the phone contacts I had synced from my computer. But in order to export the contacts now, it seems I have to export them all together. When I sync it back after I update, they will probably not be split between phone and google. Is there any way to show only contacts that have a number assoicated with them so my phonebook isn't that messy?

Dec 7, 2012What exactly does joining contacts do?I have joined all my duplicates and contacts from different lists together so there's only one entry per person.If I go on them, they're all listed under my Google Account under my email address. however some of them I merged on my phone aren't merged on gmail contacts.
And I see all the names now of my list, but the numbers aren't saved.. just their name, sometimes their email address..I'm currently on an old T-Mobile G2 but getting N4 soon..

Feb 7, 2012When I start a new thread for sending a text, I look up the person in my contact list. The problem is that for some people I have multiple points of contact. (ie cell phone, home phone, fax, email address) Let's say that I want to text a person named Jason. If I have 6 people in my contact list named Jason, by the time I type in the 5 letters in Jason (I haven't limited it by their last name yet) I could still have 24 contacts, if every one of those Jason's had a cell, home, fax, and email in my contact list.
Is it possible to have my phone or the settings on my contact list or settings in my texting/messaging application set so that only mobile phones show up in the contact list when Im IN the texting application?
Even if there is a unique name I don't like having to select that person's cell number contact - as opposed to their email, fax, or home contact when I just want to send a quick text.

Jun 20, 2012I picked up a Zeki TB782B for my kids to use and I have been really happy with it as an entertainment tablet. I have put my daughters gmail account into it and gmail works great, but contacts app does not show up anywhere including apps. It is on the tablet as a native app, Titanium is backing it up and it seems like it should be running. I rolled back the system updates to the app and still nothing.
