For example, if I have several different mp3 sound bytes of different people saying "You've got mail", is there an app that will randomly choose one of those sounds to play whenever I get mail?
(I've got a great notification mp3 right now but I could see it getting annoying to hear over and over again, so I'd love it if it was different from time to time)
Sprint HTC Hero :: GPS Notification Icon Started Popping Up At Top Of Screen At Random / Fix It?
Nov 30, 2009A few days ago the GPS notification icon started popping up at the top of my screen at random without me even running an app that requires GPS. I have tried to kill any app that potentially uses GPS with taskiller, disabling GPS all-together, and rebooting my phone to get it to go away. The only temporary solution I have found is to enter and then exit google maps. That works for a little while but then, bam, out of nowhere the little satellite icon appears again. I don't mind if it is just a little glitch and my GPS isn't actually being accessed, but if it is, that is a serious hit to my battery life. I haven't noticed a dramatic change in battery life since it started happening but I do seem to get less time out of the phone. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is it a big deal and how do you fix it?

I have the phone set up to use one of the phones own short notifications but it isn't using it and I have to restart the phone to stop the song playing. I may have the settings wrong but I can't find anything in the instructions to put it right?

Jun 16, 2010I've had my Incredible since 4/28, and everything has been working smoothly up until about last Thursday night when it just restarted out of the blue while I was listening to music. Then right after it booted up, it restarted again, then again about seven more times. I got fed up and took out the SD card and it seemed to stop after that, so I haven't put the SD card back in since then.
Just now, Wednesday, about a week later, I was browsing around on the internet and all of a sudden, it restarted, and then again, and again, and again. I've read that it is because of poor signal strength or something like that so I had just enough time to put it in airplane mode before it restarted again.
Side note, that theory about it being caused by poor signal seems to make sense because the first time it happened to me I was out of town in a city that gets very bad coverage with Verizon, and now today when it started happening again was at my house where for some reason I get very bad service with the incredible, my old phone worked perfectly fine in my house but the incredible gets terrible service, and so does my brother's Droid. In fact, about two weeks ago I got my first dropped call on Verizon in about three years, and it was in my house.
So anyways, I decided to put it in airplane mode, and just after I put it in airplane mode it restarted again. Then when it booted back up my Helix Launcher 2 home screen went back to the standard Helix Launcher 2 icons, I go into my messages and everything is gone, my contacts are all gone, everything is gone. I go to the app menu and all my apps are still there, but when I start up an app, all the custom settings are default now. I went into the settings and my accounts are all still there. I click on internet and I get a terms of service agreement, it's as if I am booting it up for the first time, but for some reason my apps and accounts are all still there.
I turn airplane mode off thinking it might have something to do with it not being connected to my google account, and I restart it again and everything is still gone. I don't know what to do, has this happened to anyone before? I feel like there should be a way for me to get this stuff back since my apps are still there and my accounts are still synced, but random things are missing like my contacts and messages etc. This is really starting to get annoying, I have insurance and everything, but I really don't want to exchange it for another one because I've read that other people who have had there phones replaced have still had the same rebooting problem, even after going through multiple replacements.

General :: Prevent Phone Locking - Not Bypass Lock Screen?
Feb 25, 2012 I've tried so many app's over the last couple of days that claim to stop the screen from locking but they have all just bypassed the lock screen... Well, they've tried to anyway. These kind of work arounds don't actually stop my phone from locking in the first place though.
My phone is a W008+ iPhone clone with Android 2.3.3. When it's charging, the screen will time out and switch off; But it doesn't lock. So I can hit any key to bring the screen back on and as it wasn't locked in the first place, I'm taken straight back to where I was.
When not charging, I get the same behaviour for ~2 or 3 seconds... Any longer and it locks forcing me to use the power key and swipe the lock screen along with any other security measures I may have in place.What I'd like is to be able to set the 'lock' timeout in the way that I can set the 'screen' timeout.How far will I have to go to get this functionality?
Is there a setting I've missed? I'm very new to Android so there's lots I don't know yet.
Are there any app's that can really do this? Maybe this would need a root app?

Feb 24, 2014I do nothing and once a day I see a new app is installed on my phone.I made a factory reset, then installed only a couple of the most important apps. After that, a month later, it began again. Is it a virus? I don't know, because I install "Avast!" - no warninds, then "Lookout" - it also says no malware is found. Dec 19, 2013Every now and then, I get this weird screen when I press the home button on my Galaxy W.The only way to exit this screen is to press the back button. Sometimes pressing the home button again will bring me back to this screen.The first few times it did this, it prompted me to run it through either Accuweather or Clock. After I deleted Accuweather, it defaulted to running through Clock, as seen in my task manager.

Jun 18, 2013I have an HTC One X and for the last day or so, it has begun to reboot itself randomly and quite often. There is no specific time of use before it reboots. It's completely random. It can just be sitting there idle, and just all of a sudden reboot itself.
The battery is not dead or dying.
The phone is not overheating.
I have no updates available and my last update was a few months ago and it was fine up until the last day or two.

General :: Spam SMS Containing Random Symbols?
Apr 8, 2012About four-five days ago I've began receiving text messages from the number "9999999999".(I'm aware it's not a real number) The texts always contain random symbols, no actual words. It's not a foreign language, it's honestly pure symbols. They had hit the 100mark as of yesterday. 100 text messages received from this nut. I receive them at all times of the day and my number is on the do not call list. (not sure if that applies to texting, but yeah..)
I did not reply to them until yesterday where I sent stop, end, #, etc in attempt to end the madness. I've also blocked the number "9999999999" using my phone providers websites. All my attempts to prevent the texts have failed. I still get them from the same 999 number.
Example of such text is

While doing a google search that contained a small portion of a text I've received, THESE are the result. Broken webpages with the same symbols I receive just in a different order. I want two things to be honest... A method to stopping this and to know what the text is written in so maybe I could decode it and find out what each text says. I want them both equally the same.

Sep 24, 2013I have just bought a Freelancer PX2 and am reluctant to tweak it until I am happy it is working properly and have accepted delivery.But it comes up with a different MAC address every time it is turned on. The first 3 bytes are always 00:08:22: but the remainder appears to be random. I know MAC addresses can be spoofed, but I have never seen one that changes on an unmodded device.
PX2, whether this happens on their tablet, or whether the MAC address is fixed (as I believe it should be)?

May 25, 2014I installed the ViperOne yesterday and so far I've been enjoying it, however I'm getting random apps installing. They won't be installed but will show as an update in the Google Play Store, they'll automatically "update" when really their just installing.
These apps include:

EDIT: Upon further looking they are actually on my phone and when they say their updating they actually are. They look like stock apps (I can't remove them from Settings -> Applications)
Some of the apps appear to be from Sony which would make sense if I had a Sony device, but I don't. It's a HTC One (M7)
General :: Lenovo A1 - Getting Random Reboots?
May 30, 2012my Lenovo A1 tablet has been really acting up lately due to a failed flash of the newest version of Cyanogenmod 7. After the failed flash, I flashed the ramdisk needed for my device which is called, "stock-at-ramdisk-2643.zip" then i restored the backup as the directions said. Now my wireless either says, "error" or it doesn't scan for networks nearby. Also I'm getting random reboots pretty much ever 1-2 minutes. I'm pretty sure i ran through the instructions correctly.

HTC EVO 4G :: Random Music Not Random
Jun 15, 2010I noticed this same issue with my HTC Hero, and then it seemed to go away. Now I've noticed it again.
The issue is this: I have around 2700 songs on my SD card, all in a folder called Music, and they are arranged, quite logically, by artist and album under that. Unfortunately, when I put the music application on random, it seems to get stuck on 4 or 5 artists (and sometimes within those artists, one particular album) and play those almost exclusively, with only an occasional diversion to some other artist. At one point it was so bad that a. it played one particular song 6 times in a 4 hour period, and b. I got so tired of one of my artists, I deleted it entirely!
So, is this a bug with the built in music player? Is it because of the amount of music I have? Is it because of where my music is stored? Has anyone else had this problem? (Or does Android OS just have an affinity for The Byrds? )
Are there any other music apps I can try? I tried Simply Music, and it did work much better on the randomization, but it hung for a few seconds several times (for no discernable reason) and it is very slow to load.
General :: N7000 - Phone Turns Off At Random?
Jan 15, 2014I have a note 1 N7000, and each time the screen began flickering and after that it shut down. This got worse after flashing a cyanogenmod rom. By plugging in the charger the battery seemed empty, but wasn't. After a while the battery indicator used to show charged 70 % or more. Put the charger cable off and the situation repeated after a short time of usage. Last night it started turning off at boot and wouldn't turn on unless on charge. I flashed a original JB rom since the problem doesn't happen when on recovery/download mode. but now it does it even when connected on charge.

General :: CM 7.2 Random Reboots - Huawei U8160
Jan 9, 2013I've been having random reboot sessions on my phone lately. When these reboot sessions occur, the battery gets hot.
I'd like to give some more information about my situation:
I've been using CM7.2 on my Huawei u8160 for almost half a year now, without any kind of problems. Lately, the phone started rebooting randomly, especially during phone calls, making the phone almost useless. The reboots also occur when the phone is idle. These reboots drain the battery extremely fast.
I've been using CM7 with the V6 supercharger, as I said, for months without problem. When these reboots started happening, I reflashed the rom, doing a full wipe (clear cache, clear dalvik, format system, format data, factory reset etc.) , but that didn't solve the problem. I reflashed CM7 several times, with / without V6 supercharger, without deleting those system apps that are safe to remove (live wallpapers, update notify etc.). I also reflashed the stock froyo rom the device came with. None of these methods worked.
It is getting more and more frustrating, since they occur randomly, and I can't make a proper phone call, since it's almost guaranteed the phone will reboot during the conversation.
I tried formatting the SD card, using another SD card, resetting the battery stats, using a program on the market and the CMW Recovery - nothing worked.
Another thing I noticed (this may sound very stupid) is that the phone reboots more often when I'm outside (it's winter here now), or when I enter in a warmer place, or when the phone is in my pocket.
I asked an assistant from a nearby Vodafone store, she said that it is a software problem ( -.- ) and that the phone needs to be sent for service. I told her I've already reflashed the software, and she said I only did an update not a full soft flash.
I have also created an error report using the device specific setting menu included in the CM7 rom, which I am attaching here.
General :: Android RAM Low - Random App Closing / Crashing?
May 14, 2013I know Android manages its RAM differently than modern computer operating systems, but I have a problem that's been happening that I think is related. Apparently, whenever I run large apps or games, or when apps increase in size significantly, Android freaks out and kills some or all apps, returning you to the home screen. When looking at the running applications list, it shows 80MB used, 22MB free, however adding what's currently running up doesn't come anywhere close to 80 MB of space!

Jan 4, 2014I just received my new tablet (Vido Mini S, BZ model) with a Rockchip 3188. Its lagging pretty often when wifi is on and crashes every 5/6minutes when idle. (Only with wifi on) already tried flashing diffrent firmwares, flashing cwm and trying formatting and then flashing but nothing works.

May 19, 2014this use to happen on my Galaxy Nexus and now happens on my Nexus 5. This random fluid sounding set of beeps comes from the phone for no apparent reason. I FINALLY managed to record it after all of these years.
Sometimes it will just do it once sometimes multiple times in succession. Then it might not do it for a week. Doesn't matter if the phone is locked or not. Completely random.....
General :: Completely Random Battery Drain?
May 11, 2013My Xperia Arc S has a really, really weird battery draining issue. The battery drains in 10 hours on standby. It seems completely random and happens as long as the battery is in the phone (even when it's off). I was rooted and had a custom rom and kernel but I've switched back to the stock firmware and guess what: the battery still drains randomly. I also bought a new battery with twice the capacity of the old one but nothing changed.
