Jul 21, 2012I've got a Samsung Galaxy S Advance which was from China. Its stock widgets and apps all support Chinese stuff like Weibo and are useless to me since I live in UK. I can't get Google Store / Android Market either - these aren't on the phone.
It's I9070, running 2.3.6. I downloaded 2.3.6 online and used Odin 1.38 a few times but it always went "FAIL!" on me.

I have tried everything possible to root this device but running into a brick wall..
I tried most root.zip versions and the universal v25 but nothing is working..
I always get operation aborted.
I cant find this device on XDA either. its a fairly new phone and was released about 2months ago..

Jul 6, 2010Although the promise of an Android phone is still exciting to me, I have to admit my first experience is leaving me less enthused. I was finally able to do the magic 15 second driver install and got 1.6.3.3 installed without any seeming issues. Since then it's been a long road. 1. The phone overclocks at 610, but definitely is unstable at 710. 2. I get constant FC messages. In accordance with a posting I found somewhere I got MinFreeManager and changed the defaults to: Foreground 8 Visible 10 Secondary 10 Hidden 24 Content 26 Empty 24 and that seemed to help. I also am using ADW, and wiping the Launcher.apk in /system/app seemed to help. But it's still a problem. 3. Audio and Bluetooth are problematic. I wiped the default Music.apk and tried Meridian which does seem to deal with the headphone bug. But mysteriously Meridian often plays one or two songs and then just stops. And Bluetooth A2DP is erratic and full of gaps. 4. All of these would be surmountable if it actually worked consistently as a phone, and that's were things that getting bad.......

So I rooted the phone and installed recovery on it and installed the froyo JIT thingie and it seems to have sped up a little. I want to overclock to 614mhz, sweet spot, so I installed the setcpu, but it only goes up to 528mhz, and I've tried searching, and I can't seem to find an answer. So I was wondering if someone could lead me to the right path?

Sep 27, 2010OK, like most here I'm struggling a bit with battery life. Last night for example I was 100% charged when I went to sleep, woke up to the phone at 72%. So yeah, nearly 30% battery lost simply sitting there doing nothing.So, I have just now killed off the DRM service and media hub in running services in hopes that my issue is what others have experienced.
However... I routinely notice many other apps running in my task killer "Advance Task Killer Free". Just now for example I just shut everything down. I sent a text message to the wife, and now the following apps are once again running:
Voice Dialer
Media Hub
Amazon MP3
There are others that I actually want going, JuiceDefender, SysTray Monitor... but what is up with these above?? I am CONSTANTLY seeing them run. Is there a way to shut these down for good? Why are they starting up on their own? Does anyone know if this is a part of my battery issues?

Whenever I try to open the .gba game Gameboid just closes little bit after I click it. It is the right BIOs file and the Pokemon game is a custom/hacked game.

Nov 18, 2011Till some days ago, I was using mojo gba lite for playing my favorite games from Gameboy Advance (.gba format)...but after I updated my samsung galaxy fit s5670, running 2.2, to the official gingerbread update 2.3.4, the app stopped loading my .gba files...I just get a black screen, though with the onscreen controls still visible (but not usable), and my phones menu button also didn't produce any response from the app...after which the app just closes...
I tried other gba emulators, but none have worked so far on my phone (with 2.3.4)...
