I planning to buy a wifi-only 7" tablet, but the tablet support some external 3G/EVDO modem to connect to the internet. So, is there -by any chances- a way to make a call or send a sms via external modem?
I've seen this possible on "ipod to iphone conversion" with custom dialer and sms app...

I've been searching the application permissions and I see no way to make an app to enable getting notified when the user send an SMS or make a phone call. How can I accomplish this task?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes when im trying to make a call or send a text it wont go through. mostly with texting. I can see on the 3 icon that it gets stuck on sending. I have to turn the phone of and on and then wait a few secs and try again. Not a full shut off but a quick tap of the power button. It is very annoying. started happening last week. I havent done a complete reset of the phone cause i dont want to go through the whole reinstalling apps thing.

It can be invoked on the Java side from com.android.internal.telephony.Phone.invokeOemRilRequestStrings() com.android.internal.telephony.Phone.invokeOemRilRequestRaw()
But from the application side, this package is not visible (com.android.internal.telephony)
Is there anyone who bypassed this issue or is there any other way to send specific AT command to the RIL from an application?
I am having trouble connecting up my Desire to my Macbook to make use of my USB Modem via WIFI. I have the USB modem connected to laptop and on the Net. Wifi active on Laptop and phone. Set laptop for Internet sharing from Modem to Wifi. All seems good, but my Desire just keeps telling me "obtaining address" I have tried setting it to static, Removing all Key's , different channels, but my desire is just not connecting. Keep getting "Failed". Driving me insane. Does not seem very keen to work on my Windows 7 Side either.

I have downloaded and installed many games in it...but now whenever I try to download new ones , it says "INSUFFICIENT SD MEMORY"
In order to use my external SD card for installing the games and other things....
I have gone through Google search and found ""FolderMount "" software and downloaded to my tab.
I have installed also. It was successful.when I open FolderMount, it says......""serching for root "" ( with one EXIT button to cancel)....and doing nothing beyond that.
I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
When I ignore a call, it goes directly to my vm. I know there is a way to sent a text, but I have not been able to figure it out
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a problem with my new Samsung galaxy S2 that's stumping.Several times a day, for several minutes at a time, I'm unable or send or revive text messages. During this ~5 min window I am also unable to make or receive calls. Outgoing texts will time out and outgoing call just stay at "dialing" and then time out. The issue resolves itself after a few minutes.
NOTES:
• This started when I switched to an iPhone on Sprint from my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. Thinking it was the iPhone issue, I switched to a Galaxy SII... which does the exact same thing.
• I have signal bars the whole time
• my girlfriend, who shares the cell plan and my house never has this issue (she has an Evolution 4g)
• tried updating the PRL, profile and even had Sprint reset my MSID#.
• happened on stock EK02 ROM, and rooted EL29 roms.
is it possible to send data to external sources.. like a remote sql server or a remote website?example: make a pic with G1 and send it to a remote db server (via internet).is there somewhere an example of how to do it? thanks for the info.

Gallery is only showing 'No Media Found'.how can i transfer files to android emualtor and where can i find those files.

I searched and did everything (flashing another rom, factory resets, swapping SIM card, removing battery for 15 mins, etc.). Only thing that I haven't done is flashing modem, because I don't know if I can flash it on i9070.
I would like to know if there is an android app or any other methods or fixes or any ways to be able to make calls like a phone from a 3g unlocked dongle on a tablet pc that supports usb 3g dongles like there is software for pc's such as mobile partner? The 3g dongle already supports call making and sms sending features. I have scoured the net for a solution but to no avail.

Jsoup is also dependent on Apache Commons Lang library. (Together they make up a total of 385kB ). So Jsoup will be used to Download the page and parse it. My question is if the use of these simplifying libraries, instead of using Androids built-in libraries, will make my app slower? (in terms of downloading data and parsing). I was thinking that the internal libraries would be optimized for Android.

I tried PhoneStateListener but not working.
Is it possible to make a call from an activity and make sure the activity doesn't keep running while the call is in session? And, once the user is done with the call (by pressing the hangup button or whatever), the call log screen wouldn't get shown and the user would be directed to a new activity within the application. I know there's ways to detect calls and call hangups through services, but, I'm not sure if it's possible to make an activity from an app pop up as soon as a call is over.
