General :: Huawei 8650 - Link2SD Won't Mount SD Card Partition?
Jun 9, 2014I have a Huawei 8650. I had updated my phone to Android 4.4.2 and i still have root access and all that good stuff but when i try to give root access to something like Link2SD or Root Explorer it will only give it partial permissions. Link2SD wont mount my sd card partition and root explorer wont gain root access at all. Both apps have the error "char* ttyname(int)(3) is not implemented on Android char* ttyname(int)(3) is not implemented on Android mount: Invalid argument". Idk what this is or how to fix it. how to fix it so i can use my sd card partition and fix my wifi.

Oct 8, 2013I am running rooted stock Android 2.3 on LG E405 (no working 4.x ROMs exist for the device)
I have two questions:
1) What is the shell command to manually make android allow the PC to mount androids' (internal) partition as USB-drive? (I cannot think of right keywords to google this one up - )
2) How does android determine which partition is which (i.e. which one to remount for the PC when connecting in "USB storage" mode), beside vold.fstab and init.rc? On android 2.3 that info is not in "framework-res.apk", so where is it? In the partition table itself?
I had switched data partition with internal sdcard partition.
Here's how: Phone had a very small "/data" partition on /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 and large internal "/sdcard" partition on mmcblk0p20
So I reformatted mmcblk0p20 (ex-sdcard partition) into EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 (ex-data partition) into FAT32
Then I changed init.rc to mount mmcblk0p20 as /data type EXT4 and mmcblk0p21 as /sdcard type VFAT (mounting /sdcard was commented out in stock init.rc for some reason). This required modifying my boot image.
I have also set correct partition number in vold.fstab:
[#]dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host[/#]
So basicly I now have a large /data partition and small internal /sdcard. I'm able install up to a gigabyte of APKs and it works fine.
However, when I connect to my PC via USB into "USB Storage" mode, the phone seems to still try to unmount what was previously sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p20), instead of what is NOW an sdcard partition (/dev/block/mmcblk0p21) I can still send files to the phone via wi-fi and ADB, but the ability to mount it directly would be nice.
If I accidentally select "erase internal sdcard" from storage menu, that will also most likely erase what is now my /data partition, softbricking the phone. The "factory reset" option will probably only corrupt the sdcard.
General :: Link2SD Can't Auto Mount
Oct 1, 2013I have a problem on my device, every time I rerun Link2sd always to Re-Mount my 2nd SD but if I choose OK (not Restart) my 2nd SD mounted, and when I restart my device and running link2sd again, this application take it back to re-Mount again. I want to ask for that problem. What should I do to make that application become automount.
Note:
1. I use Samsung Galaxy Grand, OS JB4.2
2. I have been format my 2nd SD in ext2,ext3,ext4,fat32 and Now, I use ext4 but no change.

Apr 25, 2014I've got a 3TB external drive drive hooked up to my Ouya running CM11 (Android 4.4)
I run Nzbget and Transmission in optware, and use CM primarily as a vehicle for XBMC so I need the space.
I had it in 2 ext4 partitions which needed a init script to mount under the stock OS.
I was hopping to get it working in a less hacky manner under CM.
I tried with the two parts, and no go so i redid it with one big partition with root as the UID and sdcard_rw as the GID.
Still no dice. I can access it in File Manager with elevated permissions, but no go in XBMC or other apps.
Also tried one big exFAT partioning with no luck.
I plugged in an 8g ntfs drive I had and it automounted it no problem.
What is the right way to configure the drive? We're a Linux household so sticking with ext2/3/4 would be ideal. NTFS I would like to avoid.

May 9, 2010I recently purchased an 8gb sdmicro card for my samsung moment, which i put in my phone, then got home tried to hook it up to my pc with the usb cable...nothning happened, but i got this error warning or so talking about usb malfunction or something, heres a screen shot of what i saw popped up. do i need to install new usb drivers for the phone? also i can hear the pc making that dun dun,... dun dun sound when u plug in a usb device, but it keeps doing it over and over... while the phones charing thru it.

Oct 19, 2012I'm have been trying to create a second partition on my sd card using miniTool Partition Wizard.But in the end I never get a 2nd partition but just a smaller first one.My approach is as follows:
insert empty SD card (FAT32, 4GB)
open miniTool Partition Wizard
right click on SD card - "Move/Resize"
choose 1gb for unallocated space after - click ok
right click on 2nd partition and choose "create"
create 2nd partition with FAT32/Ext2/Ext3 (tried all options already) and "primary" and Cluster 4KB - click ok
Apply
Afterwards my SD card is still shown as one partition, but this has just 1gb less capacity then before.Neither the Wizard nor the phone detects the 2nd partition then.

I have an i9000, with 8Gb of flash. Some are system reserved. Available is around 6Gb.
When i run CWM, i can partition my sdcard, but i don't see what means the possible values (for 256 to 4096).
This is obviously not ruling the space left on /sdcard mountpoint (i partition to 2048, i still have nearly 6Gb available)... So what exactly means partition sdcard from CWM ??
i can't find an answer, and i dislike, when flashing rom, following commands i don't really master (generally a partition SD 2048 / SWAP 256 or SWAP 0).

Jan 14, 2013I have bought a cheap chinese phone that had a 4g rom. 512mb is mapped to data as p3 and p4 is mapped to internal storage which is 2g.
I have managed to work out how to delete partition4 and extend partition3 as they follow on from each other.
However how do I remove all links to it in the system as it still tries to mount it on boot even though it isn't there.
I have removed the line from vold.fstab and that just crashed the external and internal sdcards and the storage section inside the system settings.

Apr 1, 2013When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).

Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

Jul 29, 2013I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Victory LTE and I'm having trouble with Link2SD. I've got a 32GB SD card with a 1.5GB partition, and a 30 GB (or thereabouts) partition. I've verified in SuperSU that Link2SD has root access. But when I start up Link2SD, first I get this toast:
"Link2sd has been granted superuser permissions for an interactive shell." ...ok, that sounds good ...
Then a dialog:
"Select the file system of your sd card's second partition", where I select the Fat32/Fat16 option.
Then I get this dialog:
"Link2SD could not obtain root access.
If you have root access make sure you respond 'Allow' or 'Grant' to the superuser request ."
So what's up with this?

Jan 7, 2012I have a Acer Liquid Metal on 2.3.6. I have a custom ROM T&L. It came preinstalled with Link2SD. I like to try lots of apps and this problem seems to be haunting me. I reset my phone on the 26th Dec as it was so annoying. I think I have set up Link2SD correctly. I have a 4gb SD with 1gb as ext2.
If I have Link2SD, why do I still have a problem with low internal storage?? I have had to remove some app's but the internal storage always gets lower.
Have I set Link2SD up correctly?

I can write to the system partition in recovery mode, so what are the scripts link2sd tries to create? If I know that I can create them manually while in recovery.
Specifically, what is the content of the scripts link2sd creates?
General :: Moving From Link2SD To Another Apps2SD Script
Sep 14, 2012Currently I have an HTC Explorer on the stock ROM with stock kernel, and it is rooted and I use link2SD to move all my apps to my SD card. However, this method does not move the application data. I would like to install a new apps2SD script that will move app data as well as apps, as I am running out of space due to the data.
The problem I am facing is that with link2SD, I am using a FAT32 partition (my current stock kernel does not support ext partitions). Almost all my apps are on this FAT32 partition. I believe if I switch to a different script, I must use an ext partition. I think I will need to install a custom kernel that supports ext partitions (and init.d scripts?) and create a new ext partition.
My questions are these:
1. Will installing a new kernel be enough without installing a new ROM? (If so, any Explorer that adds ext & init.d support? Preferably as few other features as possible, I'd like to stick reasonably close to stock).
2. How can I move all my existing apps from the FAT32 partition to the ext partition, and also move all the data currently on internal storage to the ext partition, without losing anything? (If I back everything up with Titanium Backup, make the switch, and then restore the backup once the script is installed, will that work? If so, do I need to do a wipe at any point?).
3. Which apps2SD script should I use? I have read about several, and have no idea which is best.
4. How do I actually make the switch? Do I uninstall link2SD, remove the FAT32 partition and replace it with an ext2 partition, install the new script in recovery, then boot up? Or would that cause problems with the remnant symlinks made by link2SD? Do I need to do a wipe at some point?

HTC EVO 4G :: USB Sync - Disk Mount Not Working
Nov 7, 2010When I connect my Evo to my PC, I get no option asking if I want to mount the SD card as a disk drive. I get no notification at all that my phone is plugged into a PC. Do I need to install HTC Sync before I can do this? The manual does not mention it if so. I have tried changing the default setting from "Charge Only" to "disk drive" but no change. The "Ask Me" option is also enabled.
