General :: Is The Path / SDCard Standard On All Android ROMs?
Feb 11, 2013
Background: I am writing some scripts that are used to bypass root detection for an application and I need these scripts to be compatible across devices/ROMs. I am looking to push log files from the scripts automatically incase they need to be reviewed later and am looking for a consistent place to push them to that does not require root to read or write.
Question: I have owned more than a few android devices and all the devices that I have owned have a path of /sdcard to the primary sdcard in the system. MY question is simple, is this a standard location for all android ROMs? or is it only consistent with a % of the android ROMs out there?

I am developing on a Mac with Eclipse and have the skeleton for an app that implements the standard framework callbacks (onCreate, onDestroy, onPause, etc.). When I set breakpoints in the callbacks the debugger stops and displays a tab that says
"ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread $ActivityRecord,Intent)line:2477" and in the tab page body there is some red text that says "Source not found" and a button that says
"Edit Source Lookup Path...". I have tried adding several paths via "Edit Source Lookup Path..." but can't see to find the one Eclipse is looking for.

So, I installed a couple emulators, put some roms on my SD card (yes they are definitely on the SD card and not the onboard flash), ejected my devices from my PC, and disconnected my USB cable.
Now when I open up the emulators, they are not able to see any directories on the SD card.
It's almost as if the SD card is acting as if it's still mounted. Not sure what to do here...

I'm running basic Sprint 2.1 rooted. I've removed all the bloatware, and wireless tether is working great. Pretty much everything is working great, actually, aside from the standard dialer and contact lag many people have reported, plus occasional lag in other areas.
So here's my question: Is there a custom ROM out there that solves the lagginess problem while leaving everything else basically functional and intact? I've been reading the threads around all the various ROMs, and while it seems that some offer real advantages in various areas, it also appears that each introduces its own new set of problems and dysfunctions. While I'd love a snappier phone, I don't want a bunch of new bugs, worse battery life, whatever. I mean, based on the threads here, the average custom ROM user's experience would seem to be slightly worse than my experience with the standard Sprint release.

Is there a way to read the points created when drawing a path? It seems silly to me that a path cannot be readable.Or is it just better to manually write the current finger position to an array?

I replaced my original sdcard with a sandisk 16gb card. Everything went well until I started getting these blasted read on errors. Earlymon suggested a fix from another board but I don't have a stand alone card reader so I couldn't do it that way.
I was wondering if I just backed up all my stuff from my sdcard to my iMac and then just reformatted my sdcard via the phone, would that solve my problems?

I cannot play my mp3s without one or two songs repeating over and over, before going to a new song, then the player goes back to the same repeated ones. I noticed that extra files are being created continuously in the mp3 folder. Even if I make a play list the player still manages to go back to these invader files. Is that a micro sd card or android issue. I first notice it after I install ics on my SGS I9000. Now I am JB (I9300OXADLI8).

I needed a tun.ko module for my kernel, so I tried compiling my own kernel.
The kernel did build OK, and also boots OK, the only problem is that I cannot load any modules.
It seemes, that the module tools (insmod, modprobe etc) looks for the modules in /lib/modules, and I have them in /system/lib/modules, so my wifi does not work, as I cannot load the module.
Where I can specify the kernel module load path in the .config file?
Example:
# cd /system/lib/modules
# ls -l
-rw-r--r-- root root 315403 2008-08-01 14:00 bcm4329.ko
-rw-r--r-- root root 211573 2008-08-01 14:00 tun.ko
# modprobe bcm4329.ko
[Code] .....

I have a quick question: what's the default path for the wallpaper picker in the Google car home app? When I go to settings > wallpaper > select from gallery, it's blank because there's no pictures in that directory and I can't use any of my other gallery apps to choose (I tried clearing defaults already). I just need the path so I can move the backgrounds into that specific folder.

I'm trying to backup Angry Birds settings and hi-scores using Android Debugging Bridge. The command:
Code:
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files/highscores.lua C:ab_highscores.lua
works perfectly for Angry Birds original. It is also pretty obvious how to get savegames from Rio and Seasons. Now, what is the path for Space? The most obvious one, "angrybirdsspace" is giving me error "Remote object not found". Alternatively, how can I list content of /data/data folder? I think it's not possible with ADB.

Today android phones are coming with an internal storage which is called the internal sdcard. Because of this the need for external sdcards is vanishing day by day. But when your phone is factory reset you lost all the data stored in it while in case of external sdcard you have an option to save your data. If you accidently lost all the data stored in your phone then don't worry I have a solution to get it back. This trick will work on phones having mass storage mode support, if you are running android 4.1 jellybean and above then root your phone to get mass storage( the tutorial is different for different phones),
If you have accidently lost all your files, photos and videos from your phone then after this do not copy new files to the phone. This also include clicking photos and capturing videos. If you copy new files to the phone then you are actually reducing your chances to get back your deleted photos and videos and other files. In short just don't download anything to your phone, do not use the internet on your phone till the time when you get back your lost files back.
This trick will only work on android phones having mass storage mode and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) options. If your device is rooted then you can enable mass storage mode on your android phone. After enabling mass storage mode you can get back deleted photos, videos and all files from the internal storage of any android phone.
Requirements
1. Recuva for Windows 7, Windows 8
2. A USB data cable.
Now Follow The Steps Below
-Download and install recuva. While installation do not uncheck any option.
-Now connect your android phone in mass storage mode. Connect it to pc a notification will appear in the phone, tap it to enable mass storage.
-Now open My computer and you will see Removable disk.
-Open recuva and click Next, on the next step All Files will auto selected. Again click Next. Then choose In a specified location and click Browse.Choose the removable disk or MTP disk here and click Next.
-In next step put a check mark in Enable Deep Scan and click Start.
-After scan is finished you will see the list of all deleted files. Green circles is means that file can be recovered while red circle means unrecoverable file.
-Now check the box next to Filename to select all files. Click Recover on the bottom right and choose Desktop .Your deleted files will be recovered.

How I can stick to the standard launcher but have a transparent dock?

I'm running a custom ROM (4.2.2) on an HTC Vivid. When I connect to my PC via usb, Windows only sees the internal storage, not the external sd card, and there's no way to navigate to the System partition to access.
When I was running the stock HTC ICS, Windows would mount the external card as a separate drive. I know the file system hierarchy is different with JB. Is this why it only sees the internal storage now?

i've got a little problem with my new SD-Card.
Actually i'm using an ICS ROM for HTC Desire with reverse mount. With my old SD-Card the whole system got really slow and laggy although i tried several settings in the ROM. So i bought a new one (Sandisk Ultra Mobile Class 6 - 16 GB).
My old card has a FAT32 partition and a little EXT-3 partition for the reverse mount option. I've read that EXT-4 is maybe a bit better and faster and more reliable so i decided to format the new one as followed:
14 GB FAT32 primary partition
1.4 GB EXT-4 primary partition
I've formatted the new SD-Card in my PC with "Mini tools partition wizard". Everything went fine until then.
Then i made a NANDROID backup of my old system onto my old SD-Card and copied alle the files from the old to the new card (FAT32 only). Then i put the new card into the phone and tried to restore the system. It worked but the system acted really strange (i think because of the change from EXT-3 to EXT-4 file system).
So i wiped and cleaned everything and made a new install of the ROM with reverse mount activated. Everything seemed to be ok but when i started to install Titanium backup to get my apps back the phone reboots at the beginning of the installation progress (after download). I made three installs of the ROM but it's always behaving the same way. Is the new SD-Card broken or did i mess things up when formatting the card?

Background:I have a Nook Tablet (NT) that I have installed CM10 on to the emmc successfully. So I understand that process.
Details:I'm trying to install CM10 to my new Nook HD which only has an SD card install, per this thread:
[URL]
I followed the instructions exactly and CM10 installed and "worked":
InstructionsDownload the compressed image file cm10-sdcard-installer.img. Posted: 12/28 Unpack and write the image to your sdcard. For more info on how to do it, see this post.(optional) To install CM10.1 instead of CM10, replace 'CM-10-hummingbird.zip' of the SD card boot folder with any CM10.1 image file you can download here in this page (you need to rename the file exactly as above).
Insert into the device and boot (cold)/reboot (warm).
Wait for it to finish installation.
Enjoy your HD with CM10 (CM10.1)
CM10 installed properly, but it didn't install CWM or gapps. The boot menu does not have a "boot to recovery" option.
How do I install CWM and gapps to the SD card?
I assume that I'll need to make another SD card just to boot CWM. With that I should be able to install gapps, but:
QuestionsHow do I install gapps to one SD card when CWM is on a separate SD card?
Can I install CWM to the emmc on a Nook HD so it just comes up every time?
Is CWM supposed to boot from emmc or SD card?
