Today I got a notification that I have an update for my Linux based android phone. The problem is that I have to use a the PCCompanion software that only runs on Windows. I have several computers but I only have Mac OSX and Linux (Ubuntu) as operating systems. How can I upgrade my Linux based phone on Linux or Mac?

There is no Linux version of Pc Companion? Is there another way to update? It seems odd to me that a phone that uses a Linux kernel only allows you to update using windows? The phone manufacturers are happy to use a free and open source OS but have no interest in providing for the Linux community? Shame on them...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI get a message on the phone that says there's an upgrade. I assume this is the Android upgrade. It said, I think, "details on the sonyericsson.com support pages", and no, checking exactly what it said is not an option, I need to use my phone, not keep a message displayed until I have time to do something that potentially renders the phone useless. Web pages refer to installing PC companion which I haven't done. Mea f-ing culpa, it didn't work and I didn't bother. So now the instructions just say connect and either pc companion will install or it's already installed. Neither is true. Trying to look at specific instructions for X10 Mini Pro (or even X10 mini), btw, tells me the page does not exist (it has "wandered off", which strikes me as something that a 10 year old support page might be doing, but one for their newest lines? Come on.) And by the by, the X10 mini pro is not selectable when creating a forum account I didn't want. Glad if someone could help, but honestly expecting another expensive SE brick.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got X10 with Android. Unlike the blackberry that I used to own I cannot access the microSD card from my linux machine. It detects it but does not open it for file transfers. I replaced the microSD card with the one I had in Blackberry and the phone accepetd it and was able to find all the media files on it. However the linux desktop (Fedora 12) still could not access it. Note this is the same SD card that I used in BB and all the files there were transferred using this linux machine before. Is it something in SE X10 that is blocking this.

This is really just a silly thing but it's bugging me - I've put the Android keyboard on the phone after the upgrade to 2.1 and the preview of the smileys has disappeared
I can see them in their raw form by long pressing the smiley face on the number pad, but I'm not fluent in smiley language! and also, not all of them translate anyway; I can't get the angry face anymore for example.
Is there any way of getting the smiley page to work as it did on 1.8, where the More button would bring up the pictures? (can you tell I have a banging headache this morning, having trouble with words.

I have a BT Yahoo account working fine on it, but Hotmail refuses to work. O2 have sent me the settings and I have put them in manually too, still nothing works. The phone just sits for hours with the message "checking incoming server settings".

If I choose edit, in the edit menu are same numbers gor google, sony sync and phone contacts. Even if I try to filter them, they are there.

I tried the Settings/Sound and Display/Audible touch tones menu, and the Language & Keyboard/ Sound on keypress menu, in both cases I selected "on" but still I don't hear the keyboard sound which I find very useful since I am partially sighted.

I have updated my X10 mini to Android 2.1.Every thing seems working fine except the Android Market app.I can search, and browse Android Market.But I am failing to download ANY app from the Market.The download icon does appear; but after a while it says "download paused".I searched through different forums and found that one very common suggestion is to boot the phone by pressing "Power" and "Home" key.No luck by booting either. Can some one please suggest some remedy for the problem?

1) The Spb MS panel selector disapear.
2) From the Home desktop is impossible to select or open other mask or menu. s very difficult also, shutdown the phone because the home desktop (Spb desktop like the WM standard dektop) prompt ahead and close everythink.
It seem that continuosly load the hom page.

Sometimes after power down and up, all work fine.
Spb support say the the problem in know but is not in the application upgrade, they think the problem is in SE rom upgrade.
There was an upgrade which installed all Vodafone 360 apps on my xperia x10 mini. From that moment on my email app is not working anymore. Everytime I start the app it comes up with greyed out account and password field. I can not setup the account I had setup before. The user field says "null@vodafone.ie". I looked around in the settings trying to find a solution and found that the Baseband version is "Unknown". I need urgently a fix for this as I need the email for work.
I tried PC companion to upgrade/downgrade but when the upgrade engine starts it comes up with an error that it can not be started and I should contact Sony Ericson.
SEUS so worked fine for me, but did not resolve my problem. Looking forward hearing from you. they pop up from within this
