I have a Chinese clone of Galaxy S4 called No.1 S6 with MTK6589 Cpu and Android 4.2.1 (Odexed Rom), well, I tried to replace some system app like contacts, phone and mms with the same apps taken from the Slim bean 4.2.2 Rom for the Google Nexus 4 that has the same screen resolution.
I odexed the slim bean apks with dexopt-wrapper as explained here [URL] ...., I signed them with auto-sign software, so I put them into system/app folder with right permissions, deleting old apks first, rebooted the phone, wiped cache in recovery and when the phone booted the apk I replaced was gone, so I think there's a compatibility problem between my system apps and nexus 4 ported apps, maybe I have to take the slim bean (or other ROMS, whatever) sources and edit the apks and make them compatible with my phone...
How to port system apps from other devices with different software?

I bought a chinese MTK6589 phone called the Tronsmart TS7 Glacier. I tried to flash CWM recovery with an app called Flashify. I was using the right CWM recovery for my phone, but when it rebooted it opened the normal recovery mode, and then when I tried to reboot, it didn't get past the first logo that comes up... Normally it shows an android logo, then it goes to a little animation with the tronsmart logo, then it's started up. Now it's stuck on the android logo... I've tried reflashing the stock rom from my SD card but I can't do it because it only works in CWM, the installation aborts normally. I've done it before but I got into CWM through a different app called mobileuncle or something. So yeah what I think I need to do is reflash the stock rom, but I can't do it without CWM, and I can't get CWM...

I recently purchased "KVD APOLLO ONE K6589 Quad-Core Android 4.2.1 WCDMA Smartphone w/ 5.5"
The phone itself was next to nothing ($180) so even if its Unrootable.
I would however prefer it rooted, I have read that you can basically use the MTK6577 rooting tool on the device?Would this risk bricking the device.
I'v attempted to contact the manufacturer however to no avail.

I bought recently a Tengda T94 (also being referred to as Dapeng T94).It has MTK6589 chip.
Me,the smartass, wanted to change the DPI setting of the smartphone, because Real Racing 3 lagged a little bit and thought changing it might fix the framerate.I changed it from 320 dpi to 221 with LCD modder and reboot. Then the surprise struck me,when it didnt start,it just stood on the logo and kept replaying it.I have tried with ADB commands - some works, some not.
I am with stock recovery 3e.
Has only few commands like reboot now, install update from adb, cache,sd card and wiping cache and another option for wiping data to factory settings (and two irrelevant options of restoring/backing up user data).
I tried wiping all data and cache, still bootlooping.
Tried with mediatek firmware adapter tool, but i think it cannot change the build.prop file while bootlooping (it cannot find my device when in recovery mode),because it is either in use,or in read-only mode.
Tried with android commander, but didnt know what to do there.
I downloaded rather late a CWM recovery for my phone, and also if I am not mistaken two roms - one of them is exactly like mine.
But when tried to install thru recovery adb sideload it starts and then says : restating ADBD ....... installation aborted and returns me to main recovery menu. Tried with my backed up build.prop which i have put in flashable zip file.
However, the two roms i have downloaded arent working properly. They are zip,but still adb sideload cannot read them.
And another (i dont know if it is relevant) my external sd card 16 gb default, when i put it in my old gsm to put the two roms and cwm recovery files, first windows wanted to format it and the only option was FAT 32,total of 2.87GB.What has happened to my sd card ?
Still I couldnt install from the external sd card the roms, only zip with build.prop file was listed and gave the same mistake as said above : restating ADBD ....... installation aborted.
PP: I have arrived at the conclusion that the problem is this line ro.sf.lcd_density=221,which is in build.prop file (I might be wrong). So the question is can i somehow modify the prop file or what should i do ? And why has my sd card shortened from 14,6gb to 2.87 ?

Trying to customize my new device (Runbo X6: MTK6589T, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, Android 4.2.1) .
1) Repartitioning
Actually, I successfully edited the partition table in EBR1 and EBR2 and the start addresses in the Scatter file and proofed it multipple times by recalculating, but after flashing, although I get a correct output in system settings and by dumping /proc/emmc, /proc/partitions and /proc/dumchar_info, when I try to push some apps, for ex., above the initial 680MB to /system/app or something similar I get a "disk is full" message. As I was able to find out only the /data and /fat partitions get physically updated by the new sizes, meanwhile the /system and /cache partitions remain physically on the initial state and get updated by the new sizes logical only. Although if after flashing I dump the system image by "cat /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 > /sdcard/system.img" I get an image with a size corresponding to the updated size of the partition.
Initial values:
EBR1
begin /system = 00 18 02 00 (real 00 02 18 00)= 137216 blocks (* 512 bytes + 1024 blocks of 512 bytes) = 70778880 bytes
size /system = 00 50 14 00 (real 00 14 50 00) = 1331200 blocks (* 512 bytes) = 681574400 bytes
begin /cache = 00 68 16 00 = 1468416 blocks = 752353280 bytes
size /cache = 00 F0 03 00 = 258048 blocks = 132120576 bytes
begin /data = 00 58 1A 00 = 1726464 blocks = 884473856 bytes
size /data = 00 00 40 00 = 4194304 blocks = 2147483648 bytes
[Code] ......
I also read somewhere that it is also necessary to edit PMT: in that case I tried to flash with original PMT, edited PMT and without PMT, but cuoldn't notice any difference.
2) Mounting the internal memory and external SDcard on system start natively as EXT4 instead of FAT32
Using my old device (Runbo X5: MTK6577) I had success on mounting the internal storage as EXT4 by disassembling recovery.img and editing /etc/recovery.fstab to change the "vfat" value to "ext4" and reformatting the storage after a successful boot with ne recovery, but on Runbo X6 I get no change to the filesystem after reformatting. By the external SDcard I never had success.

I bought this phone whilst on a business trip In Shenzhen china.
It's was running 4.2.9 jb. 2gb ram 16gb rom 5" screen 1080p
I put 3d chain fire on it and now it's stuck in the boot animation.
I borrowed my friend phone, same as mine and loaded up mtk droid and it generated a backup of his phone with loads of files system folder, boot.img etc
It then packed it up into a zip file. From there I thought I could put the zip file on an sd card and boot into recovery and delete the data / cache and them select install from sd card. But the installation failed

My current GS3 apparently had water damage, and a new one is coming from the insurance tomorrow. I figured that since the warranty is up and the insurance won't replace it again, I may as well finally root and flash a custom rom. From my poking around the internet, I like CyanogenMod 10.1. I am on AT&T.
I've only attempted a root once before with this current phone, which I think worked, but I abandoned the project months ago and don't remember. In any case, besides that, I've never rooted or flashed a rom before.
After further poking around on the internet, these are the sources I'm planning on using to successfully root and rom:
Rooting: How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S3 " XDA Developer TV " xda-developers
And for the ROM, I'm going to follow this video:
I understand that after rooting, I have to create a backup (using that Titan Backup app in the video I think?" and i am going to use Goo Manager to download the ROM and gapps. I saw another video that had me move files from the computer to my phone, but they didn't do any backing up, and apparently that's necessary.
What does it mean to "trip a flash counter"? And what is a toolkit, and do I need it?

I flashed the official nightly build of CyanogenMod on my Samsung Galaxy Ace.
The root explorer just closes when I try to open it. So I removed it, and installed it via an apk, same issue.
And when I download it from the market, it says it's "Purchased", but when I try to download it, it gives me a 403 error.

I was able to flash ROM from : LNK1 but I have a problem with touchscreen which works upside down. When I press screen on top it actually shows that I pressed at bottom of screen. I was looking for solution many days and have learned a lot from many sites and different forum threads, but surprisingly non of the solution works for me. I am not able to reach proper file to change proper property to change this behavior. Most probably i need to set somewhere: ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 as described here: LNK2, but I am not able to find nor edit script.bin on my phone, here I found some info: LNK3 and also here is very interesting info about partitions: LNK4 but I can't find this script.bin on my phone.
My phone is china phone 1:1 Real MTL 6589 GT-I9500, I was able to flash several ROM's using SP Flash tool from LNK5, I know how to do this, but no matter which ROM I flash no matter which recovery image I flash this touch screen behavior is still upside down as described.
1. set ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 in script.bin on my phone - I can't mount proper partition, don't know which partition should I mount, can't find this file
2. set ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 in script.bin on ROM file before flashing - don't know where to look for this file and don't know how to edit ROM before flashing.
What I know: how to root my phone, how to get to it using adb, how to use android-sdk, how to flash using SP flash tools, how to use recovery mode, clean user data, how to use SP Flash tool, how to switch on developer mode, switch on USB debugging, switch on "show touches".

Is there any word when a method to root and install custom firmwares on the Arc (such like Cyagonmod or something)?
I've tried just about most of the common methods I've found so far, and I've gotten nothing.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that the Arc is suspiciously similar to the Nexus 7, so can look into root and see if a port can be made for the Arc.

I can't go the the special boot (where you hold up, down, and power) and I can't do anything at all.

The procedures mentioned to root or install CWM Recovery in Huawei x3 U8510 requires you to go to USB Debugging mode in Settings but my device does not have a working Stock ROM.
I am able to boot into the Stock Recovery mode (Volume + and power button) but unable to install CWM(tried several versions for U8510), SU, Custom ROM etc cuz it says signature verification failed even though I tried cmw zip files which were signed.
I tried going into download mode by pressing Volume - and power button that didn't work too. Even though the Huawei symbol came up I couldn't root the device using
P.S: I couldn't find any of the latest ROMs for this device too!

I bought the new gionee elife s5.5 Unfortunately it has no play store installed and adding the apk and running it after installation always results in a forced close.
How to root the phone? Will Vroot also work (it is supposed to work on the elife e7 which has the same custom rom, amigo 2.0, I think).
Really struggling because many dialogs are in Chinese although I set the language to english...
Btw. one chinese guy told me the phone can be rooted using a chinese application named 大师 - however I have no clue where to even start with this...
