General :: How To Mass Deploy Android ROMs On Tablet
Dec 4, 2012
For my work, I need to change the original ROM of the tablet received from factory to make them at the image of our company. Is there a simple way to do this ? make the changes on one tablet, extract the ROM (so far so good) and deploy by a simple way to all the other tablet (more hard at this point) ?

I am about to assist in deploying a large amount of android device. The requirement is, that the devices (700+) need to be charged, configured and provisioned with the relevant applications for the end-users before delivery.
Device info:
Android 2.3.3
Samsung Galaxy SII
This is not windows mobile, so I am unsure if I can code/design a solution to avoid this enormous manual task.
Is it possible to code something for an sd-card that will be automatically triggered on insertion (as on WM)? This would then provision the device etc.
Is it possible to bypass the initial prompts - To my knowledge you will be prompted for entering the info for your google accounts?
do I then need to create 700+ google accounts?

I tried es explore and X-PLORER file manager but no luck.
The build in file manager in tablet also starts deleting and after an hour still shows the deleting icon.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet and every few days I notice a few new apps on the device. I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

I know I can multi select and zip them and send via Bluetooth, but once you try to extract the songs from the zip file, it wants to name each file the same as you named the zip file.
I would like to be able to move many songs from one phone to another with Bluetooth.

My application may consist og 100Kb code and 800 Kb Database content. If I include a datafile with the 800Kb data and import it into an SQLite database under the initial run of the applcation, I cannot delete the data file afterwards and my application will take up 800 Kb unnecessarily. Is there a better way to include/import my data....? (I want my application to not depend on being online after download - so the data should be downloaded with the application.

I'm an android newbie having a lot of troubles with the android emulator. I have inconsistent luck in starting up the emulator, and no luck if I start it from within eclipse instead of from the commandline (it waits forever and never boots -- not even after 24 hours).
However, since I figured out how to get it to (sometimes!) start from the command line, I have a workaround to that particular problem. But I have no workaround for my latest problem.
When I try to run it:
CODE:................
But nothing starts on my android instance. MyApp doesn't even show up on the app list.

I'm looking to upgrade my phone. Aside from normal phone use my main goal is to get a phone that will send a text message to a very large group of people all at once. My current phone Samsung Epic 4g Touch will do this but i have to create the message and then from the address box go to the group and one by one touch in each member (almost 200 in the group). I have my groups already but i would like to just add the whole group all at once. I don't care about the responses being in the same thread or anything else, I just want to add the group all at once to the address box.

I am in need to write an application for Android devices that needs to access a large (~200MB) database.
What would be the best way to do this? Can I just stick the database in the assets folder? I have read of various limitations that apply to the entire application size and to individual resources within, especially on some devices... What are exactly these limits?
Is there any way to do this apart from a post-installation download from an external server?

I use Samsung Galaxy S2 with Ice Scream Sandwich 4.0.3. WITHOUT EXTERNAL SD CARD ,rooted with SuperSu,oh and I rooted my phone specifically to be able to move apps to internal mass storage.
Firstly, before I tried rooting my phone,I tried moving my apps to internal mass storage via the basic application manager in settings, but it only showed the "move to SD" option.
Then I rooted my phone and downloaded x-plore.With x-plore ( file manager app with root browsing ) I found out that there were two parts of any app on the internal memory.First part ( located in /root/data/app ) contains .apk of an app which is oftenly same size as the installation of an app.Second part ( located in /root/data/user/data/data ) and it contains ".com.android." files of an app, which I believe are downloaded folders by that app.So for an example ,if I have Angry Birds installed, angrybirds.apk will be available in /root/data/app and ".com.android.rovio.angrybirds" will be available in /root/data/user/data/data.Since I couldn't find ANY app that is specifically made to move app to INTERNAL mass storage,I tried moving these two parts of an app (.apk and ".com.android..") to internal mass storage ( named as "sd" on x-plore ).But,as expected the app I moved tho the mass storage was "installed on sd card" as android would specify when I'd try to run it.Note:I moved it to a random directory on internal mass storage. When I moved the files back to their original paths, since they wouldn't work on mass storage, they worked properly again.
So any way I count kind of mount those two parts I mentioned of an app as one,so Android would recognize it as a whole app when I move those files on internal mass storage.Or is there some other way to move them to mass storage?Or to make apps automatically install on internal mass storage?
I really don't want to buy a SD card since I've read multiple articles that apps don't run best from SD cards.Once again,I repeat , I wan't to move them to INTERNAL mass storage which is around 11.50 GB of space, because my internal(system) memory is like 1/1,97 GB used.

I have a generic LY-F1 Allwinner tablet which was working fine until a week ago. Now, however, it won't boot past the glowing Android screen. I've left it for five or six hours with no progress, so I guess the ROM is corrupted. Is there any other way to fix this other than flashing a new ROM?
However, the main problem with this tablet is that it does not automatically enter mass storage mode when plugged into a laptop, so I have no way to rescue my content. I can see the drives in Windows (one for the internal SD, one for the SD slot) but they are not usable (they result in an 'insert media' message)
Is there a way to force mass storage mode so that I can remove my data in preparation to reflash it? I'm sure I read of a command line method to get into the internal SD card? Or was I imagining it?

1) I have imito mx1 android TV stick with built in Bluetooth. When I pair it with my PS3 controller via sixaxis app, it does with no problem, but I noticed that the connection is very weak because if I go away from the TV stick more than about 3 meters, the connection will lost.
So my question If I get a Bluetooth dongle USB for better signaling, can I use it for pairing with the PS3 controller in sixaxis app rather than pairing with the built in Bluetooth?
2)Corresponding to the DirectoryBind app, can I use it to transfer data from SD to a USB MASS STORAGE rather than ext-SD?

I just got a Nexus 4 and have found to my despair that it doesn't have Mass Storage Mode due to the sdcard becoming integrated with normal data.
I really want Mass Storage mode, as I use my phone as a memory stick for various educational purposes, including running various executables directly from the Mass Storage.
Is it possible to create a 1GB, or so, FAT32 partition from the normal ext4 space and allow that to be mounted as Mass Storage?
