Samsung Captivate :: Windows Can't Find Phone / Connect This To My PC?
Jul 16, 2010I have connected the Captivate to my Windows 7 64 Bit PC. I have downloaded the updated drivers and installed them. I have tried all the different types of connection as mass storage etc... Nothing seems to work. I can see the phone in Device Manager and in the explorer it shows three removable disks; however, when I try to open them it tells me to insert disk.
Does anyone know how to connect this to my PC?

Sep 30, 2010I have a new Captivate and am attempting to establish a USB connection with Windows XP sp2.
I have downloaded setup two different USB drivers, (1) from Samsung--I assume it's the official driver, and (2) from the Android SDK. Both installations ran without error. But when I attempt to install either driver, Windows complains that it cannot locate the driver. I'm at a loss.
Windows is finds the Captivate when connected but only intermittently. Sometimes it identifies it and sometimes it doesn't.

May 21, 2010I have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?

Jun 20, 2013 when I connect my Sony Xperia T to my home computer, the ADB driver will be installed properly. When I connect the same phone to my work computer, Windows just doesn't want to accept the drivers. The following things are equal:
- USB debugging is always on on the phone
- Both computer are running Windows 7 64bit
- On both computers I am pointing the Windows driver installation at the same folder with drivers downloaded from Sony.
The thing that is different is the device ID that Windows reports in the Details dialogue from Device manager:
On the home PC it is:
USBVID_0FCE&PID_5182&REV_0228&MI_01
USBVID_0FCE&PID_5182&MI_01
On the other PC where things go wrong it is:
USBVID_0FCE&PID_5182&REV_0228
USBVID_0FCE&PID_5182
So it seems Windows is not recognizing the phone as a composite device (MI is it multiplexing identifier?). I double checked that USB debugging is always on and also rebooted Windows.

Apr 22, 2013The phone and cables are good as I can get HTC Sync to work on my old PC and this one worked just a few weeks ago and I can even get it to work in a VMware session. But for whatever reason the phone just keeps showing up as Unknown and is put under Other devices as “Android phone”. On the other PC and in the VMware it is added as "My HTC" under Android USB Devices in Device Manager.
I’ve tried a bunch of uninstalling and rebooting and so on but something on my new Windows 7 PC is stuck when connecting the phone. It thinks it has no driver for it but it does. If I try and point any of the HTC INF files Windows just says they are not for this device.

Feb 10, 2013I have a cheap no-name 3G phone using Android 4.1.1..I want to change the sound settings. When I originally bought the phone I set the ringtone etc but now I can't remember for the life of me how I did it because I can't find a setting for sound anywhere.

However, the bar is not being resized correctly. Rather than being the width of the activity, the bar is the width of the message text. This means that if the activity is being expanded by the message, then the bar will fill the whole activity, so it looks correct. However, if the message width is less than the activity width, the bar only displays above the part of the activity with the text. I've tried every single combination of "fill_parent" and "wrap_content" that I can think of, and none of those work.I've also tried using RelativeLayout and placing the bar above the message text, but that also doesn't work. If I use the RelativeLayout approach and set the bar to fill_parent, it causes the activity to expand to fill the whole screen width, which is also undesirable. Ideally, I want the text placed, the activity width computed, and the bar resized to that width (without affecting it). Is there some way to flag a view to fill the parent view but not to affect its size?

I use dialogs made from layouts, but since I set the theme for the application, they have inherited all of the regular styles and no longer carry a border, etc. My question is: How do I say, "I want everything to use this theme which extends Theme, except dialogs, which should use this other theme that extends Theme.Dialog"? It seems like that's how things work by default but when you set the theme to your own, you lose the dialog theme!
