I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. May 5, 2010Switched from Blackberry to Incredible and have hopefully a simple contacts question. My listing for a friend, John, has a cell and home number. His listing will give me an option to message each listed number. But, I only want to message his cell and would like that to be the primary action for messaging (in fact messaging his home could preferably be deleted since it isn't possible). Holding down the number doesn't give me the option to change like the calling listings do. Right now it looks like the primary messaging option is email, which I don't want. When I create a message in Handcent and type his name, the two numbers come up but there are no descriptions to help me distinguish between his cell and home numbers. I do have contacts synced with google with some Facebook links if that is important.

For instance, my friend has just left his job and his old work email is set at the primary email on my contacts, so I want to change that to his hotmail email yet when I go to edit, there's no way of removing the old email and setting the hotmail as primary.

The wrong account is ME in Contacts
I connect 4 accounts in Contacts
a business account (google apps google mail and google+)
a personal account (google apps google mail and google+)
a gmail account
and facebook
the business account is currently ME in Contacts which means if I send an email from my phone from the personal account the image shown is not the personal image it's the business image
how can I change ME in Contacts to be my personal account?
LG Ally :: Contacts Missing After Gmail Password Change
Jun 21, 2010GF picked up LG Ally, verizon rep transferred her contacts from her previous phone to the Ally - all was fine. A day later she needed to change her gmail password, which she did - the phone complained about a sync error, asked for her new password and gmail sync worked again. (So far the same as my Inc). After changing the password, she noticed that on the Contacts tab, only one person, herself, is displayed. Looking in the call log and performing searches, we see that all of the previous contacts are, in fact, still stored in the phone somewhere. I have tried changing which groups of contacts sync with the phone, pretty much everything with the exception of a factory reset.

Dec 9, 2009Is there any way to change the priority in what picture gets displayed for the contacts? I have most of my contacts in Outlook via. Exchange, G-mail and facebook. I would like the picture to change along with their facebook picture but it seems to stay the pict i have in gmail or outlook. Is there a way to have it always show the facebook picture first and then if they arent a facebook contact fall back to the g-mail or outlook picture?

I want my wife at the top of the list & would like to be able to re-sort the list as I find who I communicate with most often, but it seems to just display them in the order that you make them favourites. Most recent at the top.
I don't want to have to clear my favourites and then start again every time I wan't to change it.

Jan 2, 2010I'm using an Eris at the moment, and favorites that were populated by default shows a card and prompts me for the desired action. I realize that selecting the name below the icon allows me to choose different actions, but I have very poor accuracy in trying to tap on just the name, so for contacts that I've added that I'm forced to choose a default action, it's very difficult for me to choose an alternate action.
The instruction manual says to "press and hold" the contact to change the default action, but that selects the entire widget to move or discard.
Does anyone know how to change the default action to prompt me each time I open a specific favorite contact?
I've seen this question for the Hero too, but with no answers. Posted on the HTC forum, but that's looking rather un-promising.

Mar 25, 2014Most of my Android contacts are listed as "device" under the "connection" heading. About 10% of my contacts are listed as either "google" or as "google" and "device". The contacts that are have Google under the Connection heading auto-sync to Google+, the remaining 90% of my contacts don't sync.
Is there a way to edit/change the Connection type to add Google to all my contacts?
General :: Numbers Entered Into Contacts On LG L9 Doesn't Sync To Gmail Contacts Online
May 7, 2013I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.

Jan 3, 2013I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 - very nice looking device - to replace my old and clunky Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. And I want to transfer all my phone contacts across. On my Xperia, I've got "Phone contacts", and gmail contacts. I tried to import all my phone contacts by first exporting them to a simgle file, and transferring that file to the Samsung. And now I've got this vast list containing, it seems, everybody who I've ever called or emailed, including various names who I don't recognize at all. Is there any way (maybe a specialized app) of keeping my phone contacts and gmail contacts separate? And how do I manage my vast list of contacts?

The little robot (foryo or whatever) is a cute logo.. but it looks like a waving dildo.. Often times I have to answer calls in front of customers, family and friends. Oct 16, 2012My wife's phone - which is a ZTE Blade running 2.2 - is losing it's favorites in the contacts manager each time it syncs to Google Contacts.
I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.
General :: ICS / Disable Google Contacts And Move Contacts To Phone
Apr 16, 2012I don't want my contacts to be synced with Google. IIRC, this was possible in 2.x. Having upgraded to 4.0.4, I'm not able to disable Google contacts.
I'd like to:
1. Disable contact sync (this works)
2. Change all contacts from Google contacts to phone contacts
3. Add new contacts as phone contacts by default.
Using the "Accounts and Sync" settings, I'm only able to deselect "Sync Contacts", but I can't find a way to move the contacts and disable the creation of new Google contacts.
