Is there any way to "teach" Android to recognize the characters not displaying in the attached image? Unaccented characters always display fine, but most accented characters show up as a rectangle. They display the same way in the stock browser, Chrome, and Drive, so I suspect it's system-wide.

how can i make my songs (.mp3) to have recognizable characters at every android media player. Let me make clear to you that non-english characters (greek letters) at my songs are nearly unreadable at players. Media players play such songs normally but i can not read their IDE tags (for example: individual artist's name, album's name, e.t.c....) Every android file explorer can identify their name, (so windows 7 do) but not the android players ( i have tested almost every media player available in market, now i am using miui player with the same problem). I have HTC magic with CM7.2 and the problem is with greek letters in songs which they appear to me as chinese ones and therefore i am not able to make playlists, choose a specific song from my list...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to use the Neucha font from Google Font Directory (link) in my Android app.
With other custom fonts, unsupported characters are still displayed, such as Japanese characters, as well as accented characters. However with the Neucha font, most unsupported characters (such as Asian ones) are displayed, but some accented characters (â, ã, ä, å, ą, ô, õ, ö, ő for example) are not displayed. Instead blank spaces are shown in their places.
Is this an issue with the font, or with Android? What can I do to get characters not supported by this font to be displayed using the default font in an EditText view?
I am from Greece. i am sailor so i bought from Italy a LG optimus L9 P760 v20B (with "TIM" software as i can image from those TIM aps inside). It doesn't have greek language so after a fail contaction with LG, i tried to search in xda to find a solution. The only solution is the OFFLINE METHOD but i followed every step one by one but i didnt make anything.... Not possible to install the greek kdz file with offline method. After doing those steps, after step "9" when im clossing the small box, there is no step 10 for me. Actually i never saw a step 10 in any of mine pc. I feel that something is going on in the small server.
Do i need to have internet to do the offline method??
I need 2 things only
1) Greek language
2) To root the phone so i can delete those TIM's apps which are full unusable for my GREEK probider ( and i cannot understand italian...)
In Romanian there are two characters (diacritics) that are causing problems in the IT world. I'm talking about ş and ţ that are written with cedilla instead of comma under (more details here and here).
Android seems to correctly display only cedilla-S, cedilla-T and comma-S. Comma-T is displayed as a square (on Maps, inside PowerAMP, etc). Looks like it's only a font problem as the songs are correctly submitted to last.fm. It happens both on Defy CM7.1 and on Wildfire original latest.
I've heard some time ago that it will be fixed in Gingerbread, but... looks like I'll have to change the fonts myself on my Defy. Is there any other solution than changing the fonts?

At first I thought it was because of some ROM so I made a clean install of Gingerbread.This didn't fix it so I updated to ICS. Not even changing my written language from Chinese to English worked.
I have to implement a simple custom soft-keyboard in my application and I want to show accented characters on the keyboard too.
These are: í, é, á, ű, ú, ő, ó, ü, ö
My question is how to map these in the keyboard xml? What are the key codes for these? I could not found them in the official KeyEvent document.

Is there any way to remove foreign characters just before sending a SMS? I know that some keyboards can do that, but I'm looking for something universal. I want to delete them, because when I use them, one SMS can contain only 70 characters instead of 160.

It's really annoying and means I can only send a few words on each text hah
I've read up online and ive tried downloading some SMS apps such as handcent etc but nothing is working I can't afford to buy a new phone currently, desperately trying to fix this.
I have an Sandisk micro SD Card on my galaxy. I was downloading and deleting apps. But took I for my laptop and tethered my phone to copy some music, on my phone for some music it would say 'File type not supported' while all the music, would be mp3. And when I tether again to play the music again it would play with scratches..And finally when I take pictures with the phones camera, I would see it and it would be fine but, when I exit then check my gallery it would be corrupt if, I try and send it on whatsapp (even a song that says "file type not supported") it would say "Not an image/audio file". Should I format my card, get a new one or what?

By the way I have rooted my phone( I guess) using Framaroot app 1.6 (with Gandalf option) and it was succesful, I have Superuser, but I have no idea what to do next.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSamsung Galaxy Nexus. I could send special characters (i.e: �, �, �, �, �, ect) in text messages. Then, it wouldn't anymore. I believe my phone updated to Jelly Bean before it stopped, so it may be connected to that. When I try to send a message with any type of special character in it, the message simply won't send. No matter if I use the messenger than came on the phone, or the one I installed (Handcent). I still get the message just not sending. It'll send once I take the characters out of the message, though. I can normally receive messages containing special characters, but they sometimes it shows up as squares.
Mostly, I want to know if I can fix it. I understand that it may be the update, which I'll have to wait out. Or that it could be the phone itself, which in that case I'd just have to wait till I can upgrade again. It's just very annoying not being able to send accents or special characters. Especially to my Spanish only speaking friends.
I've created a single primary Ext2 partition in my phone's external SD card but Android refuses to mount it automatically. Whenever I attempted to mount it manually it kept throwing the error "mount operation not supported on transport endpoint".
How can I mount it?
Using (SlimKat) Android 4.4.2.
EDIT: I'm now able to mount it only manually but have to specify ext4 as its filesystem -- why and will it make a difference since ext2 is non-journalled? Also, I tried adding a mount entry in /fstab.smdk4x12 but it was deleted upon reboot; does this mean no manual entries are allowed in that file and I will instead have to hack my own /init-xx.rc file to manually mount the partition at boot time?

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (MT15i Hallon) with the newest Nightly CM10 installed. My problem is, that in Google Now, when I ask "What's this song" it says "This action is not supported in your country". I tried everything, changing language, timezone, default google search engine, nothing worked.
My question would be, is there a way to edit a file with rootexplorer to gain ability of using this feature?
Samsung Galaxy Proclaim/Illusion. I decided I'd root my phone. After that was all said and done, I started up the phone and got a message, "unable to charge non supported battery see user manual." I never had any problems with this new battery, an Acesoft 1800 mAh that I've had for about a 1.5 months. I bought this battery because my old Samsung battery got fried. (I took it out and dropped it into water...)
I just purchased a Samsung battery off of amazon for $10, hoping that it'll come and fix all this.

The problem is when the title contains some non-UTF characters like it stops parsing and doesnt read the rest. For example if the title is "Ebru askere gitti" it only reads until which is "Ebru G". So, for a lark, I downloaded the Google Pinyin IME, which allows me to enter Chinese characters on my Droid X. It works handily. But when I put the characters in an SMS using hand-cent, it never arrives at its destination. It's not that it arrives as gibberish, it just doesn't arrive. My friend, in a trouble shooting attempt, installed it on his Droid Incredible, also using hand-cent. I receive his SMS's with the Chinese characters in them perfectly fine, but he never receives mine. When I use my goggle voice account to send myself an SMS with Chinese characters in it, it arrives as little squares. Is this a Verizon problem, a hand cent problem, or something else entirely.

Another problem I have is that in the false condition of the validation, that it will not bring up the soft keyboard to allow the user to reedit that text field. If the user clicks on another edit text the window gives it focus, and allows the user to edit the second text field while still maintaining the 'green outline' around the original edittext.
The EditText still creates a newline. I tried calling that when I create the EditText and it shows the dialog then inserts a newline character at the beginning which is weird because the

Should automatically overwrite anything in that field to the static IP saved within ConfigData. (my settings class) and I think the focus might work, the problem is that after requestFocus, that EditText shows it has focus but is unresponsive. I can click on other EditText's and modify them, while it still shows the focus outline on the IP EditText. If I click on the IP EditText it doesn't actually do anything. Its kind of strange.
I am working on a font rendering project for one of my applications in android. I am trying to input a language like.I used the Softkeyboard sample for building the Language Keyboard. I was able to type characters of the language using a font in assets folder.But The problem is As soon as I type a character and a Half word character the later replaces the first character. And the first character disappears as soon as the half word character is typed.I wish that respective glyph is displayed for respective character,half word combination.I looked at update classes they are fine. Couldn't find where the displacing thing is happening.
