So I am new into the world of playing with phones. I come from the computer realm as an engineer for the past 10years or so. So far I have not tried to root or anything but I fully intend to give it a try in the very near future. Anyways the reason behind this post is I am interested in the possibility to dual boot my device. i.e. I want to keep the stock build of 2.1 with sense but I want to be able to still play around with a 2.1 or even 2.2 (hopefully) ROM without losing my stock setup. Is this even possible? I hear a lot of people also saying they switch between ROMs often. Can you do that without losing all of the data that you have loaded on the phone already? If that is the case then switching back and forth between stock and a new ROM takes out the need for the dual boot requirement.

I've just got a few questions in regards to dual booting roms on my device (Gs2 i777 running Dream Kernel 2.7.4.) So yes, Anyway, I'm looking to dual boot roms. As of now, I have the CM10 nightly build as my daily driver, which is nice. I've got Jelly Bean running as well. But when I boot to recovery, I no longer have the Dream Kernel boot up screen, which provides the option to dual boot, which is what I'm looking to do.
Do I need to get off CM10, go back to my back up, and then set up the dual boot from there? Or can I set up my dual boot on the CM10 mod?

I was wondering if it is possible to dual boot ios on android? Yes, there are already threads on it, but time passed so you never know. Is it impossible or are there ways? I would really love to dual boot.

I downloaded the files needed [from thepiratebay] for HTC HD2 <Magnet Link> and the app RunDroid. I installed RunDroid on internal memory and the android rom on the sd card [sdhc 4gb]. Can you recommand me an Android Rom that would work on my device [specifications] ?
Edit: When I try to boot on android, it says 'Haret: Booting Linux' and then 'Error: Terminating haret due unhandeled exception 9pc=00c83fb40'
Is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen positive reviews on the dual mic noise cancellation of the nexus one. However, what I haven't seen addressed is whether than noise cancellation is bypassed when using a bluetooth headset? It would be cool if the nexus one provided the same noise cancellation when using a bluetooth headset, but I kinda doubt it. Anyone know for sure?
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday I got a Nexus 7, but I haven't been able to use it yet. After letting it charge for a while, I hold the power button to boot, followed by a white Google logo on a black screen. After roughly 16 seconds, the screen goes blank and repeats the process. I am able to access the menu that shows the Android on it's back, with the body open with blue buttons. There is no red triangle.
From here, I can select start and it again shows the Google logo - but just hangs there. No difference after minutes of waiting. Same results for Recovery Mode. If the device is plugged in via USB to a charger / computer, the Nexus freezes when reaching the menu, after which I am forced to reboot the device.
my nexus 5 is stuck in boot loop ( turning on and off by itself and can't get past the Google icon) and i can't access the boot loader for a reset. all system reset/ factory image guides require me to access the boot loader but the problem is that the phone won't stay in the boot loader because of the boot loop, it turns off as soon as i get into the boot loader.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried holding down the volume buttons and power button several times the past three days and nothing. The device vibrates and nothing happens. If I continue to hold the buttons then it vibrates every 6-7 seconds. I also tried to get into fastboot using a toolkit in our development section with no luck. The toolkit says I'm in fastboot when connected, but nothing is on my screen.
At this point I am at a complete loss. If I can't get it to work is that a valid reason for replacement by Google?
When I boot up my Nexus One, it takes <Sandlot>FOR-EVV-ERRR</Sandlot> to mount my SD card. I've got most of my apps on that card, so it's super annoying!
Like I've said, I've got a bunch of apps (40?) loaded on to this card, a few documents, 4 CDs... random stuff. I haven't formatted the card in a looong time... nor have I wiped the phone in a loooong time. I am a crackflasher - I flash a new ROM every day, but I VERY RARELY have issues, so that's why I haven't wiped in so long. I would be happy to just mount the SD manually through the terminal when I need it to.
The phone is a Nexus One. I'm running a CM7.1(or whatever it is) based ROM and kernel. The SD card is the 16gig one that came with the phone.
What's the terminal command to mount the SD card to the phone? So the ROM can access it?
I just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Nexus 4 after i dropped it and the screen cracked. It was still in working condition after the damage, but the touch screen was unresponsive. The installation went pretty smoothly but when I went to boot it up after it gets stuck at the bootup screen with the 4 bubbles. I tried some of the solutions people found for a similar problem a few months back when Google released Kit Kat 4.4 for the Nexus 4 but none of them have worked for me. There doesn't seem to be any hardware functionality issues, just some software glitch that I can't figure out.

I have the phone connected to my computer where the phones LED notification light is red but will not turn on or even boot into recovery. My computer isn't recognizing it as a device either.
Nexus 4
CM11 (latest update)

What may have caused this. and if its bricked how to unbrick it if possible?
I flash MIUI 3,9,13 Sept 14 my nexus but it doesn't boot waiting at MI logo.
I wiped dalvik. etc.
If I were to get the VZW Nexus One, would I be able to flash any ROMs for the T-Mo Nexus One? Themes, apps, ROMs, etc.?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Nexus with the volume buttons spoilt (not functioning). It is rooted and running on AOKP's 4.4 rom. Is there any way to authorize my phone without booting into the OS itself?

Is there a way to boot into bootloader/recovery without authorizing the phone and without using the physical buttons of the phone?
one day when I was playing around with clockword mod and selected restart adbd(I thought it meant the adb daemon but I guess it means something else) in the advanced options area.Well I consider my self pretty tech smart and "advanced" for a 13 year old but I guess things happen. Now when I boot my nexus one the actual boot animation(not splash) is not showing for the first 3 quarters of the boot up. Then I thought I bricked my device because the screen wasn't showing the animation for 20 sec. Then I saw the touch-sensitve buttons light up and then 2 seconds later the animation apeared only for 2 seconds untill my device was booted. I tried overwriting the boot animation in both /system/media/ and in /device/local/ ad it had no effect. I dont know what to do. I am rooted using universal androot because I want to be able to unvoid my warrnaty. So my bootloader isn't unlocked. I am running Cyanogen Mod 6 and am loving it so far! But I am wondering what to do? Should I re-flash the rom? I tried pressing restart adbd again and it did nothing? i have not done a Nandroid restore because it will mess up my apps that are on the sdcard if i restore back. I dont know what to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a friends Nexus 7 up and running. I recently rooted it and installed the custom recovery using my Mac with this guide while the tablet was on 4.3. All was well, but then my friend was given the option to install the 4.4 Kitkat update. After the update, the tablet has been unable to boot - it simply hangs at the startup animation. I am able to enter the recovery boot loader, and enter options to restore from a .zip, however I have no way of accessing the tablet's memory from my computer to put the original operating system back on it- although I think it could be done from Terminal, I am not well versed in command prompts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried flashing a stock Android 4.2 JB ROM that seems legit. After flashing, I rebooted my device and saw the standard Nexus boot animation. So far, I though all was well. It's not. My phone has been stuck in this constant booting state for hours. I pulled the battery after an appropriate amount of waiting and held down the power and volume down+up button. Instead of booting into Fastboot mode, it went straight to Odin Mode. All I can do with my device is boot to Odin Mode or watch the Nexus boot animation over and over again.
