View 1 RepliesI am looking for a way to automate my Android phone connecting to an SSH server when the phone connects to an unsecured wifi network. My understanding is that this is adequate to keep my traffic from being sniffed by DroidSheep (Android), FireSheep (Windows), or other packet sniffers.
I'm using this guide to connect my Android phone to the SSH server: link HERE
Is the Tasker app the best way to do this?
- if yes: how do I trigger the launch of the SSHTunnel when the trigger event (connection to unsecured wifi network) occurs?
- if no: what is a better way?
Note: I did a search for SSH (link HERE) and did not see anything covering this.
I have a hosting account at godaddy ruinning Linux. Is has MySQL. I am creating a J2ME application that runs on android and I was wondering if there is any simpler way to connect from j2me application to my MySQL server?
Is it required to install anything at my server? which I cannot do because of the shared account. Any way to just open the connection, update some data in the MySQL from j2me application?
Galaxy Note 8.0, Suddenly my gmail would no longer sync. So, I browsed the internet for a couple of days looking for a solution to getting reconnected to gmail. I deleted the gmail account from my tablet, uninstalled all updates from the gmail app under applicaton manager. Tried to setup the account again and still got this message "Cannot safely Connect to server". It seems thousands have had this issue and for some reason no one has been able to provide a correct solution. I'm thinking to go back to APPLE! WTF. Can it be that difficult to fix? I don't want a work around by changing ports, accepting bad certificates, etc...I don't want to ROOT my device, and I don't want to do a factory restore!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a co-worker who suddenly can not connect to her Exchange account via her phone. It mysteriously stopped syncing emails on Dec. 5, and since then the phone can not connect to the server. Error message reported is "Unable to connect to server." I even completely deleted the Exchange account from the phone and attempted to re-add it, but adding a new account failed with the same error message.
The weird thing is that the account worked perfectly fine before Dec. 5, and we can't think of anything that changed on the phone or on the server at that time. Meanwhile, other Android phones in our workplace continue to receive messages from the Exchange server, including my own Nexus 4 with the exact same server settings and another co-worker's Droid Razr.
The problem phone is a Samsung Galaxy S on US Cellular, running Android 2.3.6.
I wrote simple server on android with NDK, which will work on port 8888 on android emulator, but i can't connect to it from my client on the host machine.
I added <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/> in manifest.
I tried to make redirection with telnet:
telnet localhost 5554
redir add tcp:6666:8888
Here code of server:
#include <string.h>
#include <jni.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>
#include <arpa/inet.h>
#include <unistd.h>

Has anyone gotten the Incredible to act as a wifi hotspot? Does this require root?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSomeone from WMWifiRouter had mentioned a couple months ago they were working on a product for Android but I haven't heard anymore. I was hoping they'd drop their product when paid apps went live. Any news? Any other Wifi tethering out there that doesn't require me to root my phone?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have to create an app that allows other devices to connect to my android terminal via wifi, without access point, so my device should become an access point to host their connections. i don't have to share the internet connection with them, just have to make them connect directly to me, then they send a UDP packet, and I have to read it, so on my device will have to be an UDP server after the connection creation. how to manage wifi? any step to follow? my android version is 4.0.3
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've experienced quite a lot of problems with the WiFi after updating the Andriod. Everytime I try to connect to my home-network i get that it failed to connect.
The phone didn't have any problems with this before the update.
Anyone had the same kind of problem, or anyone that has a smart fix for it?
We have 4 android phones at our house (2 HTC Wildfires and 2 HTC Arias). All four phones have been working flawlessly with the home wifi. Until today. For no reason at all, none of the phones will connect to the wifi. Nothing has changed. The phones have not been updated, the we haven't touched the router or the modem. Just to double check that the password hadn't been hacked, I fired up my laptop, and it's working great. The phones will "see" the signal, and report that it's excellent, they just won't connect.
I've tried battery pulls, recycling the wifi setting on the phones, resetting the router, changing the security type, double and triple checking passwords, and the only thing that would allow them to connect was to remove all security from my router and make it an open network. They connected to that just fine, but it's not something I'm comfortable leaving.
I've been struggling with wifi on my Droid Pro for a while now. I tried Wifi Fixer, forgetting networks, even resetting to factory. When I try to connect to an open network, it says obtaining up, remembered, connecting, then disabled. When I connect to closed networks, it works for a while thence wifi becomes ed and goes off and on over and over. Sometimes turning my phone off and on again. Most times it doesn't.
View 3 Replies View RelatedInteresting issue. I recently set up a repeater in my house to boost my router signal. I assigned the same ssid and wep key as my router to the repeater. Since it's been connected I can't connect to the internet from my LG Optimus S while wi-fi is on--it says page can't be displayed. I'm definitely connected to my home network. When I disable wi-fi I connect easily with 3g. Did I configure the repeater incorrectly, or is it an issue with the phone settings.

So here is the problem, when I go around town. My phone will connect to the wifi network around town. It will keep connecting and disconnecting to the wifi and data network. Making my IP phone and IM apps act weird.
Is there anyway to keep both wifi and 4g data on at the same time. I know the old app superpower on xda does it on some roms. but doesnt work on stock Razr HD.
BTW I have a Motorola Razr HD stock 4.1.2 canadian rom (rogers) rooted.
I bought phone with android 4.2.2 os and i cant normally connect wifi N. In router installed dd-wrt, access point, G/N speed, wpa2. View 4 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to get my phone to connect to wifi - any wifi, not just my home wifi - since the middle of August. I don't have any sort of data plan, just the basic texting-and-minutes dealio. This is what happens at the Wifi Settings screen:
- It says it's scanning
- It tries to auto-connect to my home wifi
- It says 'authenticating with (my home wifi)'
- After a few seconds it says 'disconnected'
- My home wifi in the Wifi Networks section of the screen is listed as 'disabled'.
- The process starts all over again.
As I said this has been like this since August, but it was never a problem before. I really don't want to buy a new phone. I need to get this sorted out in less than five days, so hit me with everything you got, even if it's not likely.
Info that might be useful (I don't know phones very well):
- Android version is 2.2.2
- Baseband version is I5510UGKC5
- Build number is FROYO.UGKC5
- My wifi is Motorola with Eastlink
Also I've had a problem with the app store for months...relevant? And: I used to have data but I switched my plan...never heard of a plan that didn't include WIFI though, good grief. And: my 'battery use' panel says Wifi only accounts for 3%...I seem to remember this should be way higher, if it were connected at all.
I've had my Samsumg S4 mini for four months now and everything was perfectly fine.I've been able to connect to the WI-FI at home but now it just keeps saying 'authentication error'.I restarted my phone several times, 'forgotten' the WI-FI and re-entered the password but it still does not connect to the WI-FI.

How possible would it be to make them connect with WiFi / Bluetooth? Have them both ring when a phone-call comes in and make it not matter which you pick up? Stay connected to the internet on both phones when one loses signal? (living on the border between Belgium and the Netherlands, when one has internet, the other one probably doesn't) Share audio with 1 Bluetooth headset? Do you know a way to make any of these happen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince I have installed the [ROM][4.2.2] Slim Bean - I9100G [Build v6.0] on my device (the Samsung Galaxy SII i9100g) I'm not longer able to connect to 5ghz wifi. The issue didn't disappear till now [Build v7.0].
The last 3 days I tried different routers and settings - but there was no improvement... My online research wasn't that successful, too - I only found a decription to a problem that sounds quite similar to my issue (at [ROM][GT-I9100G][JB][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1): [URL]...
I had used some public wifis in mc donalds and airport in the past. I never had any problems. Yes, some required sms verifications, but anyways, my phone could connect to them.
After a month, i went to the airport and mc donalds again, but i cant connect to any of them. There were hotspots in other places as well, run by different telecom companies. all of them were open networks. but i just cant connect. I can still connect to my home WiFi.
Its not a ROM issue. i have tried several ROMs. I have never changed my baseband, mac address or anything like that.
Is it possible that my hardware is damaged? (but i can connect to my home wifi, which is also open) Or my mac address/phone number is "globally blocked"? (i had tried hotspots of different telecom companies. nd i dont know if theres a way to get my phone number by just trying to connect to a WiFi) Or have they installed something like "connect only with laptops"? does anything like that exist?
I have a problem with connecting to WiFi on android. I got 2 phones, one with Android 4.2.2 and the other with an older version, but none can't connect. I also tried with an iphone and had no problem.
Also, I tried connecting to other WiFi networks with the same phones, and they connected. So I think there might be a problem with my home network.
I have just bought an Android Smart TV Box (to replace my AC Ryan media box which gave up the ghost a few days ago) and it mostly works fine - it is connected to my tv via hdmi and the box is hard wired to my router - so it is the standard connection setup. I have two usb hard drives connected to it. I obviously want to drag and drop media files from my phone (android) or my laptop (Windows7) to the connected hard drives I use ES Explorer app on my phone and Windows explorer but using either version I cannot see the Android box wirelessly - if i do a scan using es explorer it finds the laptop straight away and i can drag and drop but it just will not find the android box at all. However if i go onto the Android box and into the es explorer app and do a scan it picks up the laptop and i can drag and drop a file onto the laptop. So the wireless is sort of working as opposed to not at all. But just seems odd that i cant see it at all - i cant even ping it from the laptop.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a droid X and love it. It's been great and I'm a huge android fan. That being said, after the update from Android 2.2 to 2.3 (gingerbread), I lost the ability to connect to WEP-secured wifi signals. I know it's not just my wifi at home, but ANY WEP wifi... I've been to Starbucks, other people's houses, etc, and had the same issue. Other types of security work just fine, but it essentially means that 50% of the time I can't connect to wifi.
What specifically happens is the phone identifies the signal and asks if I'd like to log in. I type in the password, but the "connect" button is NEVER responsive... it has been greyed out so that I can only press cancel.
In general, I've had spotty connection with other wifi as well (It will work for a few minutes, lose the signal, find it again, work, rinse-and-repeat).
I've googled solutions. Most of the answers ask me to change the actual router settings. I CANNOT DO THIS as I am living in a shared apartment. It is not my router. Moreover, I know that it's not a router problem as I have encountered NUMEROUS routers (including my routers at home that I used all the time before the 2.3 update) that this happens with.
