I am running Cyanogen mod and I can not figure out how to gain access to my sim card and delete contacts and text messages from it.
Is it possible and if so how do I do it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Rockchip RK3188 Tablet with Android 4.2.2, which I need to root ON DEVICE. Actually, the device was already rooted (using a Laptop via the adb bridge), so I already have busybox installed and I have one of my own apps in /system/app. However I managed to delete the su program (yeah great!) and therefore don't have root access any more. I know I can easily root the device again if I connect it to my laptop again, but that is not possible, because the device is at my parent's place and I can't go over there any time soon.
Therefore I want to root the device just with an app. Actually I would only need to copy su to /system/xbin. These are the things I already tried (without success):Framaroot (doesn't work, because framaroot does not support Rockchip tablets)
Writing my own app, which contains su in the assets and using this su for temporary root
Using adb (on the device) for a local connection (adb connect localhost), because if I connect from my PC I automatically have root (doesn't work because Android 4.2.2 has increased security on adb)
Start telnetd via busybox and then execute my commands via nc (doesn't work, because I can't start telnetd in a way that it ends up with a root shell)
My last idea is, that I could maybe gain temporary root access with the app I already have in /system/app. Basically this would be similar to the Master Key Exploit, except that I do not have to fiddle around with the apk and instead install it normally. However I don't know how to continue from that point. I know, I have special permissions if I have an app in /system/app, but which permissions are that? And how can I use those permissions to make /system writeable (and copy my su file there)?
Is rooting mean really exploiting a Kernel vulnerability to gain root access?
If there are no vulnerabilities, no root access?
why doesn't Android allow root access by default like other Linux or windows...
When I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?

Im a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !
View 40 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is trying to delete a thread of 1600 text messages from one person. Everytime I try to delete, it freezes my phone & have to force close the messages. Even turning off my phone doesn't work, I have to pull the battery out.
I tried looking up some answers on the forum. One member mentioned downloading Handcent. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me either. Same issues occured, phone froze & couldn't restart phone...had to take the battery out!
Will a Smoked Glass update delete or overwrite my flashed Motorola Droid thats currently on the Cricket service or in other words will it mess up my flashed service causing me to have to get it re-flashed back to cricket? Or is it like a somewhat update for ROOTED phone users that want to increase there phone's capabilities as compared to the stocked Android versions that were already released? I would hate to have to re-flash it even though its simple.Ok I did the update and so far the only problems are:
-That my 3G, or internet access through Cricket doesnt work anymore
-I cannot gain access to the Android Market, neither through Wifi or 3G (But as I mentioned my 3G doesnt work any more)
-I cannot gain access to GMAIL through App, even on Wifi
-GPS switch doesnt turn on GPS feature nor does the switch within the [Location & Security] enables the GPS feature
-In the [Add an account] the Gmail account has been deleted
-In the [Privacy settings] the only option available is "Factory data reset," Im not sure if thats a major problem but I thought I'd mention it But the plus's that I noticed so far are:
-The speed of my phone has increased greatly
-Youtube videos are now playable through the pre-installed app Does anybody know any possible fixes to the above problems, if so i'd appreciate it?
-Or to answer my question would my problem be fixed if I return back to my previous ROM that I backed up and then update it in order from v7 to v8 to v9 then to v10?
-Cause my previous ROM was Smoked Glass v6.0
-And if I do a factory reset will it delete my FLASHED service causing me to have to re-flash my phone?
I have like 1800 texts from one person, and I use handscent, and I'm pretty sure it would take hours to do this, is there a quicker way to do it. I'm not even sure it would even delete them all after hours to be honest

I was ok with it at first but now its a problem and is making my phone lag. i try to delete them but it goes to a black page and freezes up and i eather have to force close or turn it off. is this happening to anyone else?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

Every time i try to delete the whole thread my phone keeps freezing and the screen turns black then i get an error of Application Messages (in process com.andriod.mms) which if i hit force close it but the messages are still there. I have a thread of now, 2800 texts - every text to that person since i got the phone back in november. Now the Eris is very laggy, and deleting the other threads of texts helped, but everytime i try to delete this thread of 2800 (and counting) texts the program crashes and i have to force close it. I am using the OEM eris messages program.

I literally pushed the delete button when i went to bed the other night and 6 hours later nothing had happened except that i needed to pull my battery. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new Motorola Droid user. My phone came with 2.0.1 installed. I installed Instant Root 1.04 and attempted to run it but got a message "unble to gain access". I started down this road because I wanted to backup my phone so I could do a hard reset. So installed "Titanium Backup". It wouldn't run because my rom wasnt rooted. So i have spend 4 hours researching and each item i find leads me to another issue or program to install. Most everything seems to involve rooting. One question I have is if there is a difference between 2.0.1 preinstalled an 2.0.1 ota?
For background I wanted to reset the phone because none of the 3rd party contact or phone dialing packages will read the native phone list or contacts. I owned a Omnia i910 and did a considerable amount of customization on it to I am reasonably familiar with digging around in the guts for a general user.
Is there a way to programatically gain access (in real time) to the timer value that appears in the phone dialer display when a call is originated (the timer information appears to only be available in the call log _after_ the call ends).

That app works in a way, but has some defects, as follows, 1. Sometime it just doesn't work, missing the new message to delete. 2. Even if it works deleting the message, a notification sound and message still occur. Therefore, could any improvement be made to 100% block messages without any notifications? On the X10, is it possible to organize text messages so that they appear in an in box and sent items etc? Mine are showing up by each contact, which is good in a way, but I can't find a way to delete individual messages. It seems that all messages from a contact all form part of one long thread, even if I start a new message to a contact. That means that when I went to delete a message from a contact, the phone deleted all the messages from her. There wasn't anythign of special importance in them, but I'd like to be able to delete single messages.

Now my problem is, I've never really deleted any of my texts, so now I've got loads of texts stored on the phone and if I try to delete them, the phone just crashes, it either just freezes up completely or comes up with an error message saying that it could not delete my texts!
Ive tried deleting texts by one person at a time, but as soon as it reaches somebody that has over around 100 texts, it stops. I've tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I can only see the things that are on my memory card! Is there any way that I can hook up the phone to the computer and see all the texts there and delete them from there?
