Has anyone else noticed that the Gmail app for Android aggressively tries to remove quoted text from emails and actually removes text that was supposed to be there; that wasn't a quote? I receive a lot of emails from this forum (subscribing to threads), and from other sites like Facebook. These emails are generated by software and contain the same text in every email. For example, messages from this forum look sort of like this. Code...

View 11 Replies View RelatedThere is obviously a mechanism for selecting, cutting, pasting, and generally editing text in text fields. Little pointer widgets appear under text from time to time. In general, I can't figure out how to use them. Furthermore, on a Kindle screen (which is bigger than a smartphone screen) I can't touch or drag them accurately--they're too small, the drags required are too small, and there isn't any automatic magnifier like there is on my iPod Touch.
What I find particularly frustrating is that I can't find an easy way to move the insertion point back and forth one character at a time, the way I would with cursor keys, and I can't find any easy way to delete the character just ahead of the cursor.
Is there some kind of how-to guide that spells out just how to do text editing within text fields on a touchscreen Android device?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.

I have a Galaxy S4 and I set a google reminder to remind me to buy something when I am near a store. I didn't realize the reminder would go off every single time i pass within half a mile of the store. When it shows up on my phone, I can only click "snooze" or clear it, which will have it pop up again. If I click on the reminder, it just takes me to the default Google Now page that has the search screen and weather, etc. I tried removing it through Google Calendar but a search of my calendar shows up nothing matching it.

I wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS :
In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
